Foreword GB/T 16935 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems consists of the following 5 parts: - Part 1: Principles, requirements and tests; - Part 2: Application guide; - Part 3: Use of coating, potting or moulding for protection against pollution; - Part 4: Consideration of high-frequency voltage stress; - Part 5: Comprehensive method for determining clearances and creepage distances equal to or less than 2mm; This Part identically uses IEC 60664-1:2007 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems - Part 1: Principles, requirements and tests. This Part replaces GB/T 16935.1-1997. Compared with GB/T 16935.1-1997, the main technical differences are as follows: - added the nominal voltage of the single phase system of Japan Power Grid 100 V or 100 V ~ 200 V, involving the nominal voltage of rated impulse voltage, rationalized voltage and different over-voltage control mode of the power supply system; - added basic parameters of electrical clearance tolerance characteristics less than 0.01 mm in Table A.1; - added Table F.7 Clearances to withstand steady-state voltages, temporary overvoltages or recurring peak voltages ; - added the minimum creepage distance relative to 12500 V ~ 63000 V voltage r.m.s.; - modified the original Figure 1 The size of the creepage distance determined for the material group I by the voltage and pollution degree and made it as the content of Annex E; modified the title to Comparison of creepage distances specified in Table F.4 and clearances in Table A.1 ; - modified the provisions involving in the creepage distance of rib; added Figure 2 Determination of the width (W) and height (H) of a rib ; www.chinesestandard.net Page 3 of 90
- modified Table F.5 (of which the title is now Test voltages for verifying clearances at different altitudes modified from Test voltages for verifying clearances at sea level ); added test voltage values at 200 m, 500 m above sea level; - modified the original Clause 4 (now Clause 5) Requirements and dimensioning rules so as to describe in more details about the test, the test purpose, the test apparatus and the possible alternative test; - modified Annex A, Annex B and Annex D from normative to informative, in accordance with IEC; - deleted the dielectric test of 2Un + 1000 V which lasts for 1 min, but is not relevant to the electrical clearance verification; - deleted pollution degree 4 in Table F.4 and the original 4.2 (now 6.2). Annex C, Annex F of this Part are normative; Annex A, Annex B, Annex D and Annex E are informative. This Part was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industry Association. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Low-voltage Electrical Appliances of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 189). Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems - Part 1: Principles, requirements and tests 1 Scope and object This Part of GB/T 16935 deals with insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems. It applies to equipment for use up to 2000 m above sea level having a rated voltage up to a.c. 1000 V with rated frequencies up to 30 khz, or a rated voltage up to d.c. 1500 V. It specifies the requirements for clearances, creepage distances and solid insulation for equipment based upon their performance criteria. It includes methods of electric testing with respect to insulation coordination. The minimum clearances specified in this Part do not apply where ionized gases occur. Special requirements for such situations may be specified at the discretion of the relevant technical committee. This Part does not deal with distances - through liquid insulation, - through gases other than air, - through compressed air. NOTE 1 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems with rated frequencies above 30 khz is given in IEC 60664-4. NOTE 2 Higher voltages may exist in internal circuits of the equipment. NOTE 3 Guidance for dimensioning for altitudes exceeding 2000 m is given in Table A.2. The object of this basic safety Part is to guide technical committees responsible for different equipment in order to rationalize their requirements so that insulation coordination is achieved. This Part provides the information necessary to give guidance to technical committees when specifying clearances in air, creepage distances and solid insulation for equipment. Care should be taken to see that manufacturers and technical committees are responsible for application of the requirements, as specified in this basic safety www.chinesestandard.net Page 5 of 90
publication, or make reference to it, where necessary, in standards for equipment within their scope. In the case of missing specified values for clearances, creepage distances and requirements for solid insulation in the relevant product standards, or even missing standards, this Part is applicable. 2 Normative references The following standards contain the provisions which, through reference in this Part of GB/T 16935, constitute the provisions of this Part.
