At Solmax, we understand that a flexible and weathering resistant geomembrane is in-line with our clients needs. But also, that factory-fabricated geomembranes hold tremendous advantages. They are cost-effective, time-efficient and improve the project s overall quality. High-quality seams performed in a controlled environment are instrumental in completing an installation job successfully and in a timely fashion. With that in mind, Solmax brings to the market the F 3 SERIES, geomembranes specifically formulated for fabricated polyethylene panels. Due to its outstanding FLEXIBILITY, the F 3 SERIES is easy to FABRICATE and easy to FOLD and is sure to benefit the industry: Excellent Flexibility Properties Excellent Weathering Resistance Proven Installation Efficiency Proven Folding Capabilities 2
F FOR FLEXIBLE Using a special blend of high quality resins, Solmax s F 3 Series is the best long-lasting and flexible material currently available in the industry. With multi-axial deformation greater than 90%*, the specially formulated resin used in the F 3 Series makes this series of geomembranes the most flexible non-reinforced PE geomembrane available on the market as of today. The proprietary resin blend has high tensile strength and exhibits high impact and puncture resistance. It also has great environmental stress-cracking resistance and multiaxial stress resistance. Solmax s F 3 Series is perfectly suited for projects completed in cold climates, difficult site conditions and subgrades. In fact, Solmax tested the F 3 Series under the Large Scale Hydrostatic Puncture Testing to evaluate the real behavior of the material on the field. Such panels can be customized to each project, saving as much as 80%* of the installation time. High-quality seams are performed and tested in a climate controlled facility ensuring that no destructive testing is done. As shown in the table below, factory fabrication enables the reduction of the material used by up to 67%** since the quantities lost to bad seams, destructive testing and cutting of the first layers of the roll are eliminated. Factory fabricated panels can also be customized to the project s exact quantities provided that the initial take-off has been performed as per specifications. However, not all geomembranes can be fabricated and folded due to their lack of flexibility. Solmax s F 3 Series can be fabricated and engineered into the specific requirements for a project providing installers and engineers the best performing product for any given site conditions. Solmax s F 3 Series is made with of a special blend of high quality resins that can be easily prefabricated and packaged. *(Stark et Al, 2011) 3
F FOR FOLDABLE The stiffer a geomembrane is, the higher the chances of creasing it during the folding process is. Folding can result in a weakness that could become the starting point of cracking and/or accelerated aging. The F 3 Series is flexible enough that it can be factory seamed into large panels, folded, transported and unfolded without undergoing any damage, even in the harshest weather conditions, as shown by the data below. Data obtained by these test methods have been used to predict the behavior of plastic sheeting at low temperatures. F 3 Series 30 mils / 0.75 mm F 3 Series 40 mils / 1 mm Low Temperature Impact ASTM D-1790-94 F / -70 C -94 F / -70 C Low Temperature Brittleness ASTM D-746-106 F / - 77 C -106 F / - 77 C The quick deployment of folded, prefabricated panels allows large areas of the prepared subgrade to be covered quickly to prevent degradation due to weather and installation operations. Fabricators using the F 3 Series of geomembranes can fold and ship panels that range from 1,816 kg (4,000 lbs) to 2,724 kg (6,000 lbs) covering an area of 2,950m 2 (30,770 ft 2 ). 4
F FOR FREEZING POINT In cold temperatures, the F3 Series behaves the same way as the best available LLDPE geomembrane. In 2014, Solmax published A Case Study on the Installation of LLDPE Geomembranes in Cold Weather for the Mining Geosynthetics conference held in Vancouver, Canada. A Case Study on the Installation of LLDPE Geomembranes in Cold Weather As a world leader in geomembrane innovation, Solmax is proud to offer the F 3 Series, a liner solution in-line with Solmax s core values: Offering the best containment solutions that meet customers needs.
