Delivering Vital Standby Power To Pakistan s Planned Super-Airport. NEW ISLAMABAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, PAKISTAN Cummins is helping to provide power to the New Islamabad International Airport, the planned mega-airport located in Pakistan s Islamabad-Rawalpindi metropolitan area. Due to open in 2018, the airport will become Pakistan s largest and initially offer two runways, a 15-gate terminal and vast cargo complex. Planned expansions will see it grow further to serve up to 25 million passengers annually. Cummins Pakistan distributor Orient Energy Systems (OES) worked with Siemens to supply four C400 D5 diesel generator sets to provide standby power backup to the airport. Supply of four Cummins C400 D5 diesel generator sets to help deliver complete power continuity to Pakistan s newest airport. The main reasons for success included the cost-efficiency of the generator sets, and Cummins ability to meet Siemens demanding technical and service specifications. Also significant was a product presentation at Cummins, when Siemens representatives were able to inspect and witness the testing of a C400 D5 unit. VALENCIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, SPAIN Three Cummins C2500 D5A generator sets to answer the standby power needs of expanded Valencia Airport. Cummins diesel generator sets provide emergency power to Valencia International Airport in southern Spain. Installed to meet the airport s increased requirement following a massive expansion programme, the generators were installed after Cummins beat competitors to win the job from contractor SAMPOL. Primary choice factors included Cummins renowned reliability and competitive pricing. Designed to operate for up to 24 hours a day on an automatic operating programme, the package stands ready to supply the airport with 6 MW of emergency power when needed. LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, USA Los Angeles Airport needed mobile backup power units that could be easily deployed around its 640-acre grounds as needed. Any new system also had to comply with local emissions regulations, the most stringent in the US. Cummins Pacific stepped up: specifying two QSK60 generator sets that delivered not only on the mobility and emissions fronts, but on performance and competitive cost too. Today, the mobile-mounted units give the airport a versatile power source while ensuring emissions conformance via their Active DPF systems: stateof-the-art controls that monitor and regulate emissions as operating conditions change. Dubai s Royal Air Wing uses Cummins QSK60 powered diesel generator sets for critical emergency backup in any power loss. When Dubai International Airport constructed a Royal Air Wing terminal for the use of its royal family as part of a $2.5 billion expansion, it needed to ensure the terminal s electrical power could be rapidly restored in any outage. DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, DUBAI With the contract won, the team designed and delivered a complete solution, following technical drawings and electrical schematics with the installation of three 2250 kva QSK60 powered diesel generator sets to supply the required standby power. Other deliverables included a set of digital master controls, alongside testing and on-site training. Today, the Cummins solution is key in ensuring this prestigious wing continues to run to the exacting standards demanded by Dubai s royals and their VIP guests.
