TIA-028: Clifton Corridor Clifton Corridor $700 million Construction of a fixed guideway from Lindbergh Station to Emory / CDC area 5-6 stations Part of larger project to Avondale Station

MARTA SOGR in the TIA MARTA is in a safe state of good repair, however our systems and infrastructure are becoming increasingly difficult to upgrade and maintain. Ten (10) MARTA State of Good Repair Projects on the Constrained Investment List Total Cost of these projects = $1.38 billion Adopted TIA funding = $600 million (prorated based on project percent completion and availability of TIA funding). The projects are presented in priority order Projects were prioritized based on safety, sustainability and operational criticality Approved by the MARTA s Board of Directors in March 2011

TIA-001 Train Control System Upgrade Train Control & Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition System Upgrade Total Project Cost $ 4.4 million $182.4 million Project will upgrade the train control & SCADA system. train control controls train movement and signaling for safe navigation of trains SCADA provides monitoring and control of life-safety systems (fire detection, tunnel ventilation communications, emergency power, CCTV), traction and auxiliary systems. Benefits: improved safety, reliability, on-time performance and emergency response; reduced equipment downtime and maintenance; compliance with FTA and NTSB.

TIA-002: Elevator / Escalator Rehabilitation Elevator & Escalator Rehabilitation Total Project Cost $ 97.6 million $123.4 million Project will upgrade elevators and escalators system wide. 149 escalators (30 currently underway) 112 elevators 500,000 riders per day Benefits: improved safety and reliability, ADA compliance, reduced equipment downtime and maintenance; improved customer service.

TIA-003: Unified Transit Communications Infrastructure Unified Transit Communications TIA Amount : Total Project Cost $27.2 million $33.4 million Project converts communication infrastructure (backbone) from analog to digital; modern platform for voice & data communications between stations/facilities and control centers (Police, Bus, Mobility and Rail) Benefits: improved safety, security and communications (emergency and general passenger information); improved reliability Voice Communications Infrastructure

TIA-004: AVIS and Wayfinding Signage Audio Visual Information System and Wayfinding Signage Total Project: $30.5 million $57.8 million Project replaces aging & independent audible and visual communications system with fully integrated and synchronized audio visual information in stations and bus loops; includes new public address system, video messaging (monitors) and fixed signage for normal and emergency use. Benefits: improved safety, security and incident management; ADA compliance; synchronized communications from a single workstation; improved diagnostic capability for reduced downtime and maintenance. TRACK RENOVATIONS THIS WEEKEND TRAINS WILL OPERATE EVERY 15 MINUTES ON THE NORTH/SOUTH LINE SEE WWW.ITSMARTA.COM FOR INFO AIRPORT TRAIN 9 MINUTES

TIA-005: Tunnel and Platform Lighting Tunnel & Platform Lighting Rehabilitation Total Project Cost $27.9 million $43.4 million Project will upgrade tunnel lighting system wide and enhance station lighting. 9 miles of tunnel 38 transit stations Benefits: improved safety & security, NFPA compliant egress lighting (evacuation), improved CCTV performance; new energy efficient lighting (LED technology); improved train operator visibility; improved track worker inspection and maintenance.

TIA-006: Tunnel Ventilation Rehabilitation Tunnel Ventilations System Rehabilitation $700,000 Total Project Cost $14 Million Project will upgrade tunnel ventilation system including motor control centers, fans/motors, dampers and detection system. Life safety system designed to remove smoke in tunnels to facilitate rescue and evacuation. 9 miles of tunnel 81 MCC/Fan combinations 75 Dampers Benefits: improved safety (rescue and evacuation), reliability, NFPA compliant system, reduced maintenance and downtime.

TIA-007: Electrical Power Rehabilitation Electrical Power System Rehabilitation Total Project Cost $308.8M $361.0M Project will upgrade and replace aged and obsolete electrical power distribution equipment system wide. traction power - propulsion power to rail vehicles auxiliary power - station/facility power and lighting emergency power generator & battery backed power systems Benefits: improved life-safety & security, reliable traction, auxiliary and emergency power, reduced energy costs, reduced downtime and maintenance, NFPA, NEC, NESC compliant.

TIA-008: Track Rehabilitation Track Rehabilitation Total Project Cost $ 5.6 million $79.5 million Project will replace rail system wide particularly at curves and inter-lockings that wear heavily. 120 miles of track 36 inter-lockings Benefits: improved safety & service; reduced risk of catastrophic failure, derailment or service interruption; improved ride quality; reduced wheel wear.

TIA-009: Aerial Structure Rehabilitation Aerial Structure Rehabilitation TIA Request: $89.95 million Total Project: $100.5 million) Projects will rehabilitate existing aerial structures Benefits: Extend and maximize the useful life of the aerial structures. The theoretical design life of a bridge ranges from 50 years to 75 years; the MARTA aerial structures are 30 to 10 years old.

TIA-012: Airport Station Improvements Airport Station Rehabilitation $7.125 million This rail station modernization project will restore MARTA s second busiest station and gateway to Atlanta to like-new condition. This includes exterior and interior finish, supporting systems and infrastructure. Benefits: improved station appearance and amenities, enhanced safety & security, improved customer experience.
