System specific news Checking a circuit Tool information Improvements have been made to circuit diagrams to be used if tool information is missing. If you place the mouse pointer on a connection pin, the cable terminal part number, relevant hand crimping tool, dismantling tool and cable marking are displayed. Switch module configuration tool Used to troubleshoot, configure, renew and verify switch modules in the instrument panel. The tool also contains support to move switches digitally. Thereafter, only the keytops in the vehicle need to be moved between its switch modules. The tool is started by Electrical system> COO > Calibration or by Functions > Calibration > Bodywork adaptation. ACC Climate system New system option for the climate system: ACC3. The system is available in 2 versions: ACC Premium and ACC Automatic. The water valve is discontinued. An air flap is used for temperature control. Troubleshooting of all actuators via separate control and reaction. Calibration guide when renewing the climate panel or actuator. New fan motor located on one side of the climate unit. Control of auxiliary water heater (WTA2) via sub data bus on the climate system. Control, troubleshooting and fault code setting for comfort cooling when the engine is shut down (COL) is done in the climate system (ACC3). ALM ALM1 Alarm system Phasing out of LAS which is replaced by two new system families: DCS and ALM. Scania CV AB 2016
The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control units. ALM is now a pure alarm control unit. The greatest changes that affect troubleshooting: Configurable inputs for additional sensors (parameter setting). Reduced number of adjustable parameters. Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft protection. APS Air processing system New system option for the air processing system: APS2. APS2 has 6 circuits. The new circuit is a power train circuit. The pressure sensors are renewable. Improved cooling mode. AUS Infotainment system New system option for the infotainment system: AUS4. The system is available in 2 different performance modes: Standard and basic. Map update is done via external software from Scania (not SDP3). Download of software for the control unit is done via TIL to a compatible USB memory stick used for program updates. BMS EBS7 Electronic brake management system New system option for electronic brake management system: EBS7. The system is similar to EBS5 but all components are of new design. The component codes, however, are the same for the different versions. The steering angle sensor is no longer connected directly to the EBS control unit, instead it is connected to the coordinator via the CAN bus for driver support. For more information on roller brake test modes, see Scania Multi. BWE BCI2 Bodywork electrical system New system option for the bodywork electrical system: BCI2. Besides similar troubleshooting support such as BCI1, BCI2 contains the following: 500 kbit/s CAN bus. Parameter setting of the Driver information from bodywork function has been changed and is not done in ICL, instead programming is done directly in BICT. COL System for auxiliary cab cooler A completely new system for auxiliary cab cooler when the engine is switched off (at short-stops): COL. The system uses the existing climate unit with an electric compressor and fan. The system can only be configured together with ACC3. All diagnoses are carried out in ACC3 via a sub data bus. A completely new system which is controlled via sub data bus on ACC3. Fault code setting, diagnostics and troubleshooting are done via ACC3. The system consists of circuits under the climate system. COO COO8 Coordinator New system option for the coordinator: COO8. New hardware and software to support faster speed in all CAN buses. New CAN bus for the chassis electrical system: Orange. 500 kbit/s on red, orange, yellow and green CAN bus. New CAN bus for programmable switch modules. All troubleshooting and configuration is done via the switch module configuration tool which is started from SDP3. Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft protection. CSS CSS2 Crash safety system New system option for the crash safety system: CSS2. The system has new functionality for side collision curtains and is adapted for the new CAN speed. The fault codes have been worked on. New fault codes for side collision curtains. Scania CV AB 2016
DCS DCS1, PDS1 Door control system Phasing out of LAS which is replaced by two new system families: DCS and ALM. The functionality is similar to LAS but is now distributed to the new control units. ALM becomes a pure alarm control unit that is described under its own heading. All signals from the button panels and the control unit outputs have diagnostics support and can be troubleshooted via SDP3. Troubleshooting guides are found under each component, linked from the fault code or via the Functions view. An overall description of the DCS system is found in Scania Multi. Most important changes that affect troubleshooting: Extended CAN functionality with CAN-based button panels. o Switch module for door lighting does not go via DCS but via VIS. o Switch modules to DCS cannot be configured with the switch module configuration tool. A control unit in each door: the driver s door control unit (DCS1) and the passenger door control unit (PDS1). Managing remote controls (DCS1) via the Functions view. Always protected by a PIN code and encryption code. Locking and unlocking is done by Functions view > Calibration > Theft protection. EEC Exhaust gas aftertreatment system Bleeding the SCR system is a new guide for bleeding of the SCR system when the SCR circuit has been opened for troubleshooting or repair. Exhaust gas aftertreatment Troubleshooting has been improved in many ways: o o o The check of the pressure sensor in the reductant doser is now automatic. Troubleshooting of the reductant pump has been made clearer. The modulated pressure in the reductant pump is not displayed any more as it was misleading. Scania CV AB 2016
EMS Engine Management System S8 and EMD1 Scania continuously strives to improve the Inspection programme and to make the work involved more effective. After evaluating the function Exhaust gas aftertreatment, check of sulphur pollution, we have come to the decision to remove it from both the Inspection programme and SDP3. OCS Support for collision detector B1015 has been implemented for trucks. For more information, see Electrical system> EMS > E103, Control unit OCS > OCS > B > B1015, Collision detector. Flow diagrams for LNG tanks have been implemented in Functions > Check> Powertrain> Fuel system > Flow diagram for the fuel system, gas engines. EST Electronic hydraulic control system for tag axle steering New system family and system option: Electronic hydraulic control system for tag axle steering (EST). EST replaces RAS as well as the mechanical link system for tag axle steering. Guide for calibrating the straight-ahead position. Guides for activating and deactivating service mode. The system is available in 2 versions: with digital display instruments and without digital display instruments. The larger part of the bodywork functionality has been moved to BCI and BICT. As standard, 2 pins are available in the instrument panel for the bodywork to control 2 of the 8 bodywork indicator lamps. Available in 2 versions: o Standard (km/h and miles/h) o High (km/h and miles/h) Troubleshooting of indicator lamps has been made easier by intuitive guides. Increased number of fault codes. INL INL2 System for internal lighting New system option for internal lighting: INL2. A completely new control unit has been introduced for checking the internal lighting. The control unit has its own fault codes and diagnosis for signals. The troubleshooting guides are linked from fault codes, circuits and the Functions view. The control unit is integrated in the switch module located in the instrument panel. Available in 3 versions: o Basic version o With control of the background lighting behind the instrument panel o With control of the background lighting behind and above the instrument panel Switches cannot be configured with the switch module configuration tool. VIS CUV3 Visibility system New system option for the visibility system, CUV3. The system is available in 2 versions: Basic and Extended. Besides similar troubleshooting support such as CUV2, CUV3 contains the following new features: 500 kbit/s CAN bus. LED headlamps on sub data bus. Rain and light sensor on sub data bus of LIN type (12 V). Support for new function, cornering light. Signals for remote activation, e.g. the parameter for Alternating main beam flashing is adjusted in CUV instead of BCI as previously. WTA System for auxiliary water heater New system option for the auxiliary water heater: WTA2. The system is available in 2 different performance modes: 3 kw (cab Scania CV AB 2016
heater) and 6 kw (cab and engine heater). The heater locks itself after several failed start attempts. SDP3 now includes a calibration guide in to unlock the heater if required. When renewing the combustion air fan, the new fan needs to be adjusted with regard to the carbon dioxide content. Guide to measure the content is found in SDP3 in the Functions view. Known problems and shortcomings EMS Engine Management System OCS There is no support for C1677 and C1678 for LNG vehicles manufactured before November 2015. As a result, information and signals regarding the fuel level sensor and solenoid valves for high pressure are no longer available in the Electrical system view. For troubleshooting, Scania refers to the flow diagram for the fuel system instead. For more information see Functions > Checks> Powertrain> Fuel system> Flow diagram for fuel system, gas engines. TMS Transmission management system Software before 52.40 for TMS1 and before 62.27 for TMS2 does not handle high split being engaged when starting the layshaft brake test. To be able to run the test, the vehicle needs to have low split engaged and be in neutral. Scania CV AB 2016
