Includes new maps and information Changes to bus routes in South Birmingham from 22nd July 2018

This summer we re making some changes to bus routes in and around South and South West Birmingham. These include small changes, such as timetable improvements so that our buses can run more reliably. There are also some larger route changes, to cater for new and emerging travel needs, and also help to overcome increasing traffic congestion around busier areas. These changes will bring new express services, more direct routes to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the University of Birmingham, and a simpler network that is easier to understand. Many will see very little change to their journey, but we ve put together this route-by-route guide to tell you about what s happening in the coming weeks. Changes will be made to the following routes from Sunday 22nd July 2018: 1 Gospel Oak Acocks Green Moseley Five Ways 2 & 3 Maypole / Yardley Wood Billesley Wake Green Birmingham 5 Solihull Widney Monkspath Shirley Sarehole Mill Birmingham 6 & 6A Solihull Shirley Hall Green Birmingham 22 & 23 Bartley Green Woodgate Harborne Birmingham 24 Woodgate Valley North Harborne Birmingham 27 Maypole Kings Heath Northfield West Heath Hawkesley 29 Frankley Northfield Weoley Castle Harborne Birmingham 31 Solihull Shirley Gospel Oak Acocks Green Birmingham 35 Hawkesley Kings Heath Moseley Birmingham 37 Solihull Olton Acocks Green Birmingham 45 Longbridge West Heath Cotteridge Stirchley Birmingham 47 Cofton Hackett Turves Green Cotteridge Stirchley Birmingham 48 Northfield Weoley Castle QE Hospital Harborne Bearwood West Bromwich 49 Solihull Shirley Maypole Cotteridge West Heath Longbridge Frankley Northfield 50A Wythall Maypole Kings Heath Moseley Birmingham 63 Frankley Rubery Longbridge Northfield Selly Oak Birmingham 84 Hawkesley Bournville Selly Oak QE Hospital 98 Rubery Rednal Longbridge Northfield Selly Oak QE Hospital Birmingham 885 Solihull Acocks Green Moseley Edgbaston X61 X64 Frankley Northfield Selly Oak University Birmingham Bartley Green Weoley Castle Selly Oak QE Hospital Birmingham 1 1 4A 1 1A Fox Hollies Acocks Green Springfield Moseley Cannon Hill Park Five Ways or University / QE Hospital 1A 1A 1 Gospel Oak Acocks Green Birmingham More buses will run through Moseley New direct route to University / QE Hospital Gospel Oak will have more and faster buses to / from the city centre 4A Gospel Oak no longer served by route 1 1 1A The 1 / 1A will run up to every 10 minutes between Acocks Green and Edgbaston, from there the 1 will run up to every 20 minutes to Five Ways; the new route 1A will then run up to every 20 minutes along Bristol Road and Aston Webb Boulevard to University / QE Hospital. In Acocks Green / Fox Hollies, buses on the 1/1A route will run around a loop of Shirley Road, Dolphin Lane and Olton Boulevard East. The new 4A will run from Gospel Oak along Severne Road and Gospel Lane to Warwick Road, then through Acocks Green and direct along Warwick Road to Birmingham city centre, reducing journey times for our passengers. 2 3 4A Maypole Warstock Yardley Wood Billesley Birmingham between Wake Green and Birmingham Buses up to every 10 minutes between Billesley and the city centre Between Wake Green and the city centre, services 2 / 3 will now use the same route along Stoney Lane. At Widney Manor Station, buses towards Solihull will now stop opposite the station entrance and not pull into the forecourt. Springfield Road will no longer be served due to ongoing issues with parking, preventing larger vehicles from passing and causing delays. All buses on this route will now serve Showell Green Lane. This may be revised if the problem improves in future. 6A Solihull Shirley Hall Green Birmingham Buses run up to every 6 minutes There s no change to the 6 route. Journeys on the 6A will be withdrawn. The business parks between Shirley and Monkspath are still served up to every 20 minutes by the 5.
