55 Model No: LG-0-PT-WP-0-BL-TSC 0 Gallon Point Lawn & Garden Sprayer W/Pump & Coupler & Boomless Boom Assembly / Operation Instructions / Parts ASSEMBLY Most of the sprayer has been assembled at the factory.. Join the boom to the carrier frame with the two u-bolts, and whiz locknuts. NOTE: Make sure the u-bolts are positioned within the grooves of the grommets on the boom tube. NOTE: The purpose of these grommets is to prevent metalto-metal contact between the u-bolts, boom tube, and boom mounting bracket. BEFORE RETURNING THIS PRODUCT FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE CALL -800-8-00 IF YOU SHOULD HAVE A QUESTION OR EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR FIMCO INDUSTRIES PRODUCT: -800-8-00 BEFORE YOU CALL, PLEASE HAVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AVAILABLE: SALES RECEIPT & MODEL NUMBER. IN MOST CASES, A FIMCO INDUSTRIES EMPLOYEE CAN RESOLVE THE PROBLEM OVER THE PHONE. GENERAL INFORMATION The purpose of this manual is to assist you in operating your sprayer. Please read it carefully as it furnishes information which will help you operate and maintain your Point Hitch Sprayer. WARRANTY / PARTS / SERVICE Products are warranted for one year from date of purchase against manufacturer or workmanship defects. Your authorized dealer is the best source of replacement parts and service. To obtain prompt, efficient service, always remember to give the following information. The grommets will compress as you tighten the whiz locknuts onto the u-bolts. Tighten just so that the boom tube will NOT rotate within the grommets. Alternate the tightening of the locknuts to provide even pressure on the grommet. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN the whiz locknuts, as this may cause the boom tube to flatten slightly!. Attach the boom feeder hose to the boom and secure in place with a hose clamp. Nylon hose fittings (Item 5) are included to be joined to the pump. A torque chain, S-hook, and hardware are also included for the pump. The pump is included with the assembly. It is intended for this pump to be mounted directly to the tractor PTO. INFORMATION ABOUT THE SPRAYER Roller pumps are positive displacement pumps which means that the entire solution being pumped must go somewhere or the pump will break. In this roller pumping system, solution is drawn from the tank and forced to a planned source such as boom nozzles, handgun, or jet agitator. The pressure is controlled by a relief valve which is a spring loaded device that controls the amount of fluid bypassed to the tank. The tee handle is to be tightened to increase pressure and loosened to decrease the pressure. The directo-valve is the off-on control which allows the operator to manually control the solution going to the boom. Testing the sprayer Attach the sprayer to the tractor point hitch. Mount the pump to the PTO and affix the torque chain.. Correct part description and part number.. Model number of your sprayer.. Serial number of your sprayer. Part number and descriptions can be obtained from the illustrated parts list section of this manual. Whenever you need parts or repair service, contact your distributor / dealer first. For warranty work always take your original sales slip, or other evidence of purchase date, to your distributor / dealer. www.fimcoindustries.com 000 FIMCO LANE P.O. BOX 00 NO. Open tank lid and be sure the tank is clean and free of foreign material. Fill the tank about one half full with plain water. It is important to test the sprayer with plain water before actual spraying is attempted. This will enable you to check the sprayer for leaks in the plumbing system. Before starting, open the suction line valve, turn the relief valve tee handle out to lower the line pressure, and thereby to help to prime the pump. Caution: Always be sure that water has reached the pump before starting your sprayer. If the pump is run dry, serious damage to the pump will result. Always have the pressure line open to the tips so that any air which may be trapped in the line will be forced out. Start the tractor PTO. Check the entire system for leaks. Once the pump is primed the pressure may be increased by turning the tee handle in. Keep the pressure line open to the tips when setting the pressure. Set the pressure and then lock the relief valve tee handle in place. Shut off the directo-valve and check for leaks again. Pressure will increase when the pressure line valve is closed and then return to the set pressure when the valve is opened again. During the testing period be sure to observe the spray pattern given by the spray nozzles. If there is any pattern distortion, it will be necessary to remove and clean the affected tips. caution: Never use a metal object or other sharp item for cleaning a nozzle tip. It is better to use a nozzle brush (not wire brush) or compressed air for tip cleaning. OPERATION Always fill the tank with a desired amount of water first, and then add the chemical slowly mixing as you pour the chemical into the tank. You may use the handgun to spray into the solution in order to mix the chemical and water. Initially begin spraying by opening the handgun. This will enable the air in the line to be eliminated through the tip, while building pressure. All three nozzles spraying at the same time will allow a maximum coverage of 0 ft. Overlapping of the ends of the spray pattern will not be needed. The center nozzle will cover a 80" swath. Each of the three nozzles has a means of shutting down, so you may choose the coverage that is needed. When it becomes necessary to clean the screen, you will need to have your tank empty. The easiest way to remove the screen would be to disconnect the inlet fitting at the pump, and unscrew the "in-line" valve near the tank, keeping the whole assembly (hose & fittings) together, thus exposing the screen, which can be pulled out of the tank at this point. Wash screen out thoroughly before replacing the tank. WARNING: Some chemicals will damage the pump valves if allowed to soak untreated for a length of time. Always flush the pump with water after use. Do not allow chemicals to sit in pump for extended times if idleness. Follow chemical manufacturers instructions on disposal of all waste water from the sprayer. adjusting pressure When the bypass valve is closed, pressure is at the highest point. Opening the valve will decrease pressure. using the boom nozzles Four things must be considered before spraying with the boom.. How much chemical must be mixed in the tank.. Rate of spray (gallons per acre to be sprayed).. What pressure (P.S.I.) will be used.. Speed traveled (M.P.H.) while spraying. End Nozzle Information (#55) The pumping system draws solution from the tank, through the strainer, and to the pump. The pump forces the solution under pressure to the handgun or boom nozzles. Pressure may be decreased by opening the bypass valve to the tank. When it is closed the highest spraying pressure will be reached. Open the handgun by squeezing the handle lever Rotating the adjustable nozzle tip on the handgun will change the tip from a straight stream to a cone pattern (finer mist). Be sure the thumb nut on the adjustment nozzle is tight. The pump motor's demand switch shuts off the motor when the handgun, bypass valve and boom lines are fully closed. The system remains pressurized, and the pump motor will restart automatically when the handgun or boom line is opened. If however, the bypass line is open, the pump will not shut off automatically. The nozzles are fixed on /" spacing. Page

Refer to the chemical label to determine the chemical mixture. See the tip chart to determine the pressure to be used. The chart will also show the speed used when spraying. Start the pump and open the valve to the boom nozzles. Check the spray pattern. Usually you can see the coverage better on solid concrete surface, such as a driveway. The boomless nozzles should be " above the objects being sprayed. calibration Chemical labels may show application rates in gallons per acre, gallons per 000 square feet, or gallons per 00 square feet. You will note that the tip chart above shows all three of these rating systems. Once you know how much you are going to spray then determine (from the tip chart) the spraying pressure (PSI), and the spraying speed (MPH). Speed Chart Speed in M.P.H. Time Required in Seconds to Travel a distance of; (Miles Per Hour) 00 ft. 00 ft. 00 ft..0 8 05.0 8 0.0 5 8.0 5 5.0.0.0. 8.0 8.5.0. 5 0.8 0 After testing, add water and chemical to the tank. Adjust the pressure and spray as you did in the testing procedure. MAINTENANCE WHILE SPRAYING Periodically close the suction line valve, check the line strainer and clean the screen. Always flush the entire pumping system with water or a neutralizing agent such as Nutra-Sol after completing the spraying operation. Care and maintenance will prolong the life of the sprayer. AFTER SPRAYING warning: Some chemicals will damage the pump parts if allowed to soak untreated for a length of time. Always flush the pump with water after use. Do not allow chemicals to sit in pump for extended times of idleness. After use fill the sprayer part way with water, start the sprayer and allow clear water to be pumped through the plumbing system and out through the BoomJet nozzle. Conditions of weather and terrain must be considered when setting the sprayer. Do not spray on windy days. Protective clothing must be worn in some cases. Be sure to read the chemical label carefully. If the vehicle does not have a speedometer, determining the proper speed of the tractor can be done by marking off 00, 00 and 00 feet. The speed chart indicates the number of seconds it takes to travel the distances. Using a watch or stop watch for time, set the throttle and with a running start travel the distances. Adjust the throttle until you travel the distances in the number of seconds indicated by the speed chart. Once you have reached the throttle setting needed, mark the throttle location so you can stop and go again (returning to the same speed). Add water to the tank and drive to the starting place for spraying. When you are ready to spray, turn the boom valve to the on position. This will start solution spraying from the tips. The pressure will decrease slightly when the boom is spraying. Adjust the spraying pressure by operating the bypass valve. After use dispose of unused chemicals per instructions of chemical manufacturer. Refill the tank about half full with plain water and use a chemical neutralizer such as Nutra-Sol or equivalent and repeat cleaning instructions above. Flush the entire sprayer with the neutralizing agent. Follow the chemical manufacturers disposal instructions of all wash or rinsing water. Remove tips from the BoomJet nozzle. Wash tips thoroughly with water or cleaning solution (appropriate for chemical used). Blow out orifice, clean and dry. If orifice remains clogged, clean it with a fine bristle (not wire) brush, or with a toothpick. Do not damage the orifice. Water rinse and dry tips before storing. WINTER STORAGE Drain all water out of sprayer paying special attention to pump & valves. These items are especially prone to damage from chemicals and freezing weather. The sprayer should be winterized before storage by pumping a solution of RV anti-freeze through the entire plumbing. Proper care and maintenance will prolong the life of the sprayer. Page
