TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1. General Rules a. Unless in the Rules and these Homologation Documents and Technical Specifications, it says that you can do something then you cannot. b. Only the original equipment Briggs and Stratton Animal engine model series 124332.8003.01 is permitted for use. c. The engine and all its components must remain as originally supplied and unaltered. d. No aftermarket parts can be used unless specified herein. e. All parts are subject to comparison with the homologated part. This includes specified and mandated aftermarket parts. 2. FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT - Things That Are NOT Permitted a. Tampering with the Teka installed engine seals (5) b. Addition or subtraction of material in any form or matter. The only exception to this is Valve maintenance. Valve seats must remain with the factory specification of 30 and 45angles only. Valve seats of additional angles and/or angles not comparable to the homologated components of 30 and 45are not permitted. Grinding of valve stem or excessive material removal is prohibited. c. Blueprinting. d. Modification to or the machining of any part/s to bring them to the minimum/maximum specification., e. Machining or alteration of any kind to the engine or replacement parts unless specifically stated herein. f. Deburring, machining, honing, grinding, polishing, sanding, media blasting, etc. g. Sandblasting or glass-beading any interior engine surfaces. h. No device may be used that will impede, or appear to impede, airflow to the engine cooling system. 3. Engine Sealing a. All engines must have the official TEKA fitted seals in place and be delivered with its own TEKA log book and serial number. The log book must be readily available at all times during a race meeting. b. Tampering with or breaking the seals is not permitted. Should the seals be tampered with or be broken, the engine will no longer be eligible for competition. Tampering includes interfering with the fasteners and/or damage to or brea kage of the wire/seal itself. Take proper care of your seals to ensure their integrity. c. Only authorised TEKA engine sealers are allowed to seal engines after carefully inspecting the engine according to the Technical Specifications for the Briggs and Stratton Anima l engine. Special TEKA engine seals must be used. A record of any and all repairs is to be noted in the engines log book, dated, signed and stamped by a Teka engine sealer. d. At race scrutineering, the team representative, is to present the engines with undamaged seals and its corresponding log books showing the correct matching serial numbers, seal numbers, stamp and signature of the authorised TEKA engine sealer. e. In the case of a protest or post race scrutinerring, scrutineers can open and check the engines and their log books. These actions will be in accordance with these rules. f. After checking the engines step by step to ensure it is in accordance with the technical specifications hereunder, the KA scrutineer in conjuction with the TEKA engine sealer will reseal the engine. 4. Engine Ignition Switch a. The B&S ignition switch and wires must remain in the original location. b. It is not permitted to alter the OEM wiring. C. Remote engine kill switches are permitted however the standard B&S kill switch must be retained and must function independently of any remote engine kill switch. 5. Engine Air Filter a. The air filter is free. The air filter must be attached directly to the original air intake of bell of standard B&S carburettor, or alternatively it is permitted to securely fit an intermediate one or two piece extension tube made of fire resistant material with an internal diameter no greater than the air intake bell with a maximum bend angle of 90 degrees and minimum length. b. A protective shield may be attached for wet-weather or dusty competition. c. It is not permitted for the protective shield to create any ram-air effect. Copyright 2014 Karting Australia. 6. Engine Oil a. No oil additives are permitted. 7. Fuel Systems a. Fuel pumps are free b. Pulse pumps port fittings may be fitted to one of the following; The inlet manifold Cylinder head inlet tract, or Utilizing the oil cap. c. If via the inlet manifold or cylinder head, the fitting used must be a commercial off the shelf product with no modifications and must be installed flush to 0.5mm maximum protrusion into the inlet manifold tract or cylinder head tract.if the inlet manifold tract or cylinder head inlet port is modified in any other way the engine will not pass scrutineering. 8. Carburetor & Intake Manifold a. The B&S stock carburetor part #555658 is the only carburetor permitted for use. Walbro, Briggs diamond logo and/or #590890 etched in the body are additional visual indicators. b. No alterations allowed unless stated below. c. All parts will be compared to the homologated OEM part to determine eligibility. d. It is permitted to adjust the float height by means of bending the small tab on the float arm. e. Slide must remain B&S OEM unaltered. p/n555590 f. Idle pilot jet must remain OEM p/n 555594 as supplied with the engine. g. Main jet is free. h. B&S OEM unaltered aluminum needle is required p/n 555691 i. Throttle cable cap p/n555603 on the top of the carburetor must be properly installed and secured in the fully tight position. j. Choke must be OEM and unaltered. The lever may be fastened open with a spring, rubber band, wire, etc. k. All Carburetors must be measeured amd sealed with a TEKA seal by the engines sealer and noted in the engines log book. 9. Cylinder Head a. Depth of the head at shallow part of the head is a minimum of 0.3mm. b. The measurement of the shallow side of the combustion chamber is taken with a depth gauge on the push rod side of an imaginary line drawn from dowel pin to dowel pin on the valve side of the dowel. It is also taken over the spark plug area. C. Depth at floor of head = 8.1mm minimum. d. Depth of top of valve seat = 9.15mm maximum to 8.5mm minimum. e. Head thickness is measured from head gasket surface to head plate gasket surface = 61.5mm (measured in 4 places through valve guides and push rod holes. f. Width of combustion chamber at the widest part across the valve seat area = 67.05mm no -go at a depth of 5.1mm in the combustion chamber. Cylinder head combustion chamber volume is 28.5cc. 10. Head Gasket a. Unaltered B&S part #555723 and # 555698 (fire ring) head gaskets are the only ones permitted to be used. b. Minimum thickness allowed is.1.25mm. Measurement must be performed using a micrometer. Readings are taken from inside the cylinder hole of the gasket closest to the combustion chamber. Four measurements must be taken with 3 meeting the minimum thickness of 1.25mm. 11. Ports a. No de-burring, machining, honing, grinding, polishing, sanding, media blasting, etc is permitted. b. The transition from intake bowl to port must have factory defined machining burr at this junction. No addition or subtraction of material in any form or matter. No alterations of any kind may be made to the intake or exhaust ports. Copyright 2014 Karting Australia. All rights reserved. 25

c. Intake Port: Maximum diameter measurement 23.32mm d. Exhaust Port AS CAST. Exhaust Outlet -24.89 e. Valve Seats. Intake and exhaust: Must remain factory specification with one 30 and one 45 angle only. Valve seats of additional angles and/or angles not comparable to the factory stock are not permitted. f. Intake seat I.D = 24.55 must go to 24.7mm no go. Exhaust seat I.D = 21.45mm must go to 21.6mm no go. Seat angles 45 degrees, single angle cut. Valve lifters: head = 20.8mm no go to 21.85mm must go. Length = 38.5mm no go to 38.75mm must go. 12. Valves a. Intake and exhaust valve length = 85.65mm +/-.25mm b. Single angle cut intake: head diameter = 26.8mm no go, 27.05 mm must go. c. Valve dish: 2.15mm to 3.01mm. d. Height from angle of valve face to top of valve = 1.45mm 45 degree cut. e. Exhaust valve, Head diameter = 23.75mm no go to 24mm must go. Valve dish 2.15mm to 2.65mm. Height from angle of valve face to top of valve = 1.5mm. 13. Valve Springs a. Intake and exhaust valve spring maximum length = 23.65mm no go. b. Wire diameter (measured in 3 places) 2.6mm to 2.7mm c. I.D of spring 15.65mm minimum to 16.1mm maximum. P/n 26826 14. Rocker Arms, Rocker Ball and Rocker Arm Studs a. Rocker arm must be OEM part #797443 (METRIC) as homologated and must not be altered in any way. b. Rocker studs must be OEM, part #797441 Metric (M8x1.00 thread) as homologated and must not be altered in any way. c. Rocker arm OEM part #797443 (Metric) must be used with rocker stud OEM part #797441 (Metric). d. Rocker Ball must be OEM. Diameter 14.99mm minimum to 15.49mm maximum. e. Rocker arm mounting positions must not be altered in any way. No helicoiling of mounting holes is permitted. It is not permitted to bend the studs. f. Rocker arm stud plate must be bolted to the head with one OEM gasket as homologated no alterations are permitted. Maximum thickness of gasket is 1.52mm. Rocker plate to head fastener holes must remain in accordance with the homologation 7.34mm maximum. g. Minimum overall Rocker arm length 71.63mm. 15. Push Rods a. Push rods must be OEM p/n 693517 as homologated and must not be altered in any way. Push rod length 143.2mm minimum to 143.6mm maximum. Push rod diameter 4.7mm minimum to 4.83mm maximum. 16. Engine Block a. Engine block must be unaltered as cast B&S factory machined condition. b. There must be no addition or subtractions of metal or any substance to the inside or outside of the cylinder block. c.welding to repair cracksor breakage is permitted only in areas where the affected portion does not require re matching and not in an area where the welding may be conetrued as a performance gain.. 17. Valve Lift a. Maximum valve lift is checked from the top of the valve spring retainer. Valves must be adjusted to zero clearance. b. Camshaft check is taken at the valve spring retainers. With the lash set at zero, the movement of the valve spring retainers may not exceed the following: o Intake and exhaust: 6.48mm maximum. 18. Flywheel a. The flywheel must be OEM part #555685 as homologated and must not be altered in any way. No machining, glass beading, sand blasting, painting or coating of flywheel is permitted. b. The minimum weight of the flywheel, fins and attachment bolts is 1.843kg. c. The flywheel fan must be OEM part#692592 as homologated and must not be altered in any way. It is not permitted to use a flywheel fan with broken fins or fins that have been removed or damaged. d. OEM unaltered flywheel key with the B&S logo must be us ed. Width of the key allowed is 4.64mm 4.76 No offset keyways are permitted. 19. Ignition System a. The ignition must be B&S ignition OEM part #555681 as homologated and must not be altered in any way. Only the Blue ignition module is permitted to be used. Rev limited to 12,000rpm. b. The Coil and its position, other than air gap may not be altered in any way. Coil mounting bolts must be OEM and cannot be altered in any way to advance or retard timing. Attachment bolts and/or bolt holes may not be altered. c. Spark plugs, leads and cap are free. No spark enhancers or boosters are permitted. The plugreach is to be 19mm with 19.2mm being a maximum, measured from the upper gasket surface of the spark plug to the parallel lower aquared edge of the threaded portion of the plug. 20. Clutch a. Only thenoram dry air cooled clutch GE20-219 is to be fitted. Clutches will be used to transmit the drive with a maximum engagement speed of not more than 2,500 rpm. The Noram GE20-219 clutch sprocket has 20 teeth. The final drive sprocket for use in TEKA is 71 teeth. 21. Starter a. Recoil Starter - OEM part # 695287 as homologated is the only recoil starter permitted for use and must not be altered in any way. b. The Recoil Starter maybe rotated. 22. Exhaust a. Complete exhaust manifold and muffler assembly must be as homologated and as supplied by TEKA. b. All mufflers must be tagged, stamped or engraved with TEKA permanent identification by TEKA. Teka mufflers also come with a braket and mounting kit. 23. Non Tech Items a. Chain gaurds, engine mounts, rev counter or hour meter, inline fuel filter (no greater than 50ml capacity), catch can and brackets, fasteners, clips, ties, washers, throttle cable and housing, fuel line and pulse line.
