ROgator 618 Challenger RoGator 618 The ultimate vehicle for spraying and spreading systems, for the most demanding farmers and contractors. Designed with the toughest operating conditions in mind, the Challenger RoGator 618 offers exceptional strength and durability, together with performance that ensures optimum output in all conditions. Matched with the appropriate sprayer or spreader, the Challenger RoGator 618 can return consistently high work rates over extended periods to ensure that applications are made in a timely and efficient manner, even over extremely large acreage. Combine this with the back-up of the Challenger dealer network, closely supported by the parts and service network of the world s largest, dedicated agricultural machinery manufacturer, you have a package unrivalled in the industry. Engine Fitted with the Caterpillar 3126B 6-cylinder engine rated at 225 hp, you can be guaranteed excellent performance, regardless of operating conditions. Caterpillar s industry-leading ADEM III controller together with their HEUI (hydraulically pressurised, electronically controlled unit injector) fuel injection system, accurately controls fuel delivery to ensure optimum power output and fuel economy. With Caterpillar s enviable reputation for reliability and durability, you can be assured of many thousands of hours of dependable service. Daily maintenance can be easily conducted from the driver s platform, with more in-depth access to the engine being easily achieved thanks to the sliding cover and access ladder. Chassis Designed for high-speed operation with very heavy loads in extreme conditions, the welded steel space frame chassis and axles have proved to be very durable and can comfortably manage a 5,000-litre, 36-metre spray pack in liquid fertiliser applications. The front and rear axles can be fitted with the option of hydraulically adjusted track, 1.8-2.25 metres. The underside has an extremely smooth profile with a clearance of up to 1.1 metres to minimise crop damage. 2

Setting New Sta Transmission In simple terms, the 3-speed hydrostatic system fitted to the Challenger RoGator 618 exceeds all expectations. On this vehicle, the transmission only utilises about 50% of its design capacity, even when fully laden. All four high-capacity wheel motors are fitted with oversize bearings. This ensures that they are well protected from the inevitable excess loads experienced when traversing rugged terrain with a full payload. The high-flow twin pump system delivers massive torque to all four wheel motors at lower pressures than competitive machines, thereby further enhancing durability. The twin pump system, crossover plumbing and special hillclimb steep cam wheel motor control, provides excellent gradeability for surefooted traction in the most difficult conditions. To further demonstrate Challenger s confidence in the RoGator 618, where local legal regulations allow, the vehicle has been tested and approved to tow a trailer with a gross laden weight of 16 tonnes. 4
ROgator 618 ndards Cab On competitive self-propelled sprayers, the cabs often appear to be something of an afterthought. Not so with the Challenger RoGator 618. Designed specifically for the market leading North American RoGator, the spacious, pressurised cab is the essence of luxury, comfort and safety. Easily accessed up the automatically folding steps and through a wide door, the fully trimmed, ISO-mounted cab with its pneumatic suspension seat provides the driver with a quiet and comfortable workstation, ideal for extended working periods. The large interior also allows for practical use of the foldout driver-training seat. Comprehensive instrumentation and logical controls make light work of operation, whilst the large glass area provides excellent visibility particularly to the all important rear three-quarter area, giving perfect line of sight to the spray boom on each side. A further major advantage of the Challenger RoGator 618 cab is that it is designed to exceed ECPAR / ASAE 525 test requirements for sprayer cabs. The high capacity heating and air-conditioning system maintains a fresh and comfortable environment for the operator, irrespective of ambient conditions. The cab has a two-stage air filtration system. All incoming air passes through a standard dust filter first to remove particulates, before passing through a secondary, active carbon filter to provide protection from airborne chemicals. This arrangement greatly extends the life of the carbon filter when operating in dusty conditions. Furthermore, even when operating the ventilation system in re-circulation mode, all air passes through a third, active carbon filter to ensure that any chemicals brought into the cab on the operator s clothing are taken out of circulation. Steering The hydrostatic steering system is light and precise, and the simple-to-operate four-wheel-steer system provides excellent manoeuvrability on the headland. The steering wheel is fully adjustable to allow the operator to find the ideal position. Auxiliary Hydraulics Powerful auxiliary hydraulics supplied through 4 spool valves provide ample flow for most applications and are plumbed so as not to be affected by demand from either the transmission or steering systems. An additional, independent, high-flow, load-sensed hydraulic circuit complete with its own cooling system can be specified as an option. This can provide additional hydraulic flow directly to the implement or a powered drive via a chassis-mounted PTO system. 5
Simple Versatility Braking In addition to the braking effort provided by the hydrostatic system, safe and dependable braking is provided by large high capacity drum brakes fitted to all four wheels. Even when fully laden, the braking system inspires confidence, allowing the operator to work the Challenger RoGator 618 to its full potential even on the most difficult terrain. Separate parking brakes are fitted on each of the rear wheel motors. Driveability The Challenger RoGator 618 is simplicity itself to operate. Gear selection is electro-hydraulic whilst engine speed is controlled electronically, either by use of the foot throttle or a rocker switch control. Forward speed and direction can be controlled in the field by the convenient armrest-mounted joystick in combination with the electronic throttle. On the road, the operator can also choose to make use of the dynamic braking control system. This allows forward speed and braking to be coordinated automatically. Once selected, depression of the foot throttle causes the vehicle s forward speed to increase. On releasing the throttle pedal, the vehicle will slow down, through a combination of reducing engine speed and the slowly increasing hydrostatic braking effort. Should the load/speed combination require it, applying pressure to the brake pedal will, at first, increase the rate of transmission deceleration, then with increased pressure will operate the powerful drum brakes on all four wheels. This automatically controlled function provides a very smooth drive, reduces driver fatigue and greatly increases confidence when operating with heavy loads. Suspension The chassis is fully suspended. The rear axle is mounted via two heavy-duty Aeon suspension units, whilst the front is equipped with a hydrostatic suspension system for an extremely comfortable ride. Spray Packs The choice of sprayer is often a very personal one. Many customers have preferences for features that are not available on all brands. For this reason, Challenger is working with two manufacturers of sprayers - Chafer and Knight Farm Machinery. Together, we bring you the very best spraying technology in combination with the very best application vehicle - the ultimate solution for your application needs. Spreader Body For many years, Bredal have been successfully supplying spreader bodies for the Challenger RoGator 618. These can be supplied with hydraulically driven discs or with the optional PTO-driven disc mechanism for high rate lime spreading. Whatever your spreading or spraying needs, Challenger RoGator has the solution for you. 6
