GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes - August 19, 2009 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS The club welcomed guest Fred Kingrey owner of a Jet Stream Blue ZR1. SECRETARY S REPORT Kitty Moorhead moved the minutes from the July meeting be accepted as written. Supplies Ending balance $2,178.99 VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT Don Pennell reminded everyone of the Kettering Holiday at Home Parade on Labor Day, September 7. If you are participating, plan to be there around 9:00 a.m. Normally, the staging area is around Far Hills and Stroop Roads. As soon as Don receives the exact location of the staging area, he will forward to club members. COMMITTEE REPORTS SOCIAL Judy Smith reported for Sharon First who was on vacation. On Saturday, August 22 there is a Miami Valley Firefighter/EMS Memorial Fundraiser at Gilly s, downtown Dayton. Cost is $5.00 at the door and the rock-n-roll group, Sky Kings, will perform at 8:00 p.m. On September 19 there is a bean supper at Dave and Sharon First s home. More information to follow. MEMBERSHIP Judy Smith reported that we have 90 members. PUBLIC RELATIONS Don Pennell had nothing to report.
NEWSLETTER Mike Jones had nothing to report. NCM AMBASSADOR Jerry Schlatter reported that Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky would be open and operating Tuesday through Friday, September 1-4. Tours will run continuously during their Labor Day celebration. Jerry also mentioned Precision Autosports. They offer complete custom fabrication services as well as custom fabricating turbo kits from the header to the down pipe, roll cages, air to air and air to water intercoolers. WEBMASTER There was no report from Bruce Richenbach. OLD BUSINESS Freddie Haugh received a request from Nancy at Mid-America for a list of club members who are planning to attend the Funfest in Effingham, Illinois. Nancy told Freddie the club will park together and needs a list of participants. Among other activities, there will be a silent auction and fireworks between the Survivor and the Jan and Dean shows Judy Smith thanked the club for their donation for school supplies for Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She also thanked Don and Sharon Pennell, Dave and Sharon First, and Bob and Carol Miller for additional donations. The shipment cost $65.00 and Tommy Cummings of Pine Ridge was very appreciative. NEW BUSINESS Boris Tirpack mentioned that he and Retha and Larry and Terri Kopa attended the National Council Corvette Club s (NCCC) annual convention in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There were a lot of activities during the week as well as personal side trips.
