STRIKEMASTER LITHIUM 40v BATTERY QUICK START STRIKEMASTER LITHIUM 40v 5 AMP HOUR BATTERY 1. Remove StrikeMaster Lithium 40v Battery from carton (Image 1). IMAGE 1 2. Unpack Battery Charging base, slide Battery onto Battery Charging Base using the channels on both sides as a guide. Press down until you hear it click in place. Leave Battery on Battery Charging Base until fully charged (Image 2). NOTE: Battery is not fully charged when fi rst removed from box. 3. When Battery Charging Base indicator shows green, your Battery is fully charged (Image 3). 4. Once Battery is fully charged remove from Battery Charging Base. Slide battery onto Powerhead using the channels on both sides as a guide, pressing down until you hear it click in place (Image 4). 5. Remove blade cover from bottom of spiral and stow in a safe place (Image 5). Your StrikeMaster Lithium 40v is ready for use. BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE IMAGE 4 1. Use of another battery charger may present risk of fi re or explosion. When charging, make sure temperature is between (35 F/2 C 100 F/38 C) Keep Battery out of reach of children. Do not use a damp cloth or detergent on the Battery or Battery Charging Base. Always remove the Battery before cleaning, inspecting, or performing any maintenance on the tool. Have servicing performed by a qualifi ed repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained. If the Battery case is cracked or damaged, do not insert into the charger. Replace the Battery. Battery powered Augers do not have to be plugged into an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always in operating condition. Be aware of possible hazards when not using your battery tool or when changing accessories. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fi re, or serious personal injury. Do not place the Battery in high-temperature locations, such as near a fi re, heater, etc. Do not crush, drop or damage Battery. Do not use a Battery or charger that has been dropped or received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subject to explosion. Batteries can explode in the presence of a source of ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, never use any cordless product in the presence of open fl ame. An exploded battery can propel debris and chemicals. If exposed, fl ush with water immediately. Do not charge Battery in a damp or wet location. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock. Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact with your skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If liquid gets into your eyes, fl ush them with clean water for at least 15 minutes, then seek immediate medical attention. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury. Keep Battery dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Always use a clean cloth when cleaning. Never use brake fl uids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, or any solvents to clean Battery. Dispose of used Battery promptly. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fi re. Do not use any alternative chemistries such as alkaline, standard (carbonzinc) or rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-mh, etc.) batteries. EXTREME COLD WEATHER OPERATION The Lithium-Ion Battery can be used in temperatures down to (-4 F/ -20 C). If your Battery is not performing correctly, put the Battery on the Powerhead, free spin auger out and above ice for 30 to 90 seconds depending on how cold the unit is (the colder the unit, the more time to warm up). After this sequence the Battery will warm up and begin operating normally. NOTE: Always store Battery in a warm location. 02 03

SYMBOLS The following signal words and meanings are intended to explain the levels of risk associated with this product. SYMBOL SIGNAL MEANING DANGER Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. KNOW YOUR BATTERY The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the product and in this operator s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before using this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. BATTERY CONTACTS RELEASE BUTTON Some of the following symbols may be used on this product. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpretation of these symbols will allow you to operate the product better and safer. SAFETY ALERT READ OWNER S MANUAL Indicates a potentially personal injury hazard. To reduce risk of injury, user must read and understand owner s manual before using this product. The battery used in this device may present a fi re or chemical burn if mistreated. Risk of fi re and burns. DO NOT OPEN, CRUSH, HEAT ABOVE 212 F/100 C or INCINERATE. Follow manufacturer s instructions. When Battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fi re. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, fl ush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. Do not use a battery that is damaged or modifi ed. Damaged or modifi ed batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fi re, explosion or risk of injury. 04 05

OPERATION CHECKING BATTERY CAPACITY NOTE: The battery is not shipped fully charged. It is recommended to fully charge before first use to ensure that maximum run time can be achieved. This lithium-ion battery will not develop a memory and may be charged at any time. A fully discharged Battery will require approximately 150 minutes to fully charge from a discharged state. Press the Battery Capacity Indicator (BCI) Button. The lights will illuminate according to the batteries capacity level as shown below. CHARGING THE BATTERY Batteries are shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge prior to first use. If the charger does not charge the Battery under normal circumstances, return both the battery and charger to your nearest Authorized Service Center for electrical check. Charge the Battery only with the recommended charger. Connect the Charging Base to a power supply. For approved power sources, refer to the operator s manual for the charger. Make sure the Battery is secured in the Charging Base before beginning operation. Press down on the Battery to be sure contacts on the Battery engage properly with contacts in the Charging Base. The Battery may become slightly warm to the touch while charging. This is normal and does not indicate a problem. Do not place the Charging Base and Battery in an area of extreme heat or cold. They will work best at normal room temperature. When batteries become fully charged, unplug the Charging Base from the power supply and remove the Battery. EXTREME COLD WEATHER OPERATION The Lithium-Ion Battery can be used in temperatures down to (-4 F/ -20 C). MAINTENANCE To avoid personal injury, always remove the Battery from the Auger when cleaning or performing any maintenance. When servicing use only identical StrikeMaster replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Brush or blow dust and debris out of the air vents using compressed air or a vacuum. Keep the air vents free of obstructions, sawdust, and wood chips. Do not spray, wash, or immerse the air vents in water. Wipe off the housing and the plastic components using a dry, soft cloth. Do not use strong solvents or detergents on the plastic housing or plastic components. Certain household cleaners may cause damage and may cause a shock hazard. STORAGE Always remove the Battery before storing the Charging Base or any time the Charging Base is unplugged. Do not place the Battery in the sun or in extremely warm environment. Keep at normal room temperature. If the battery will not be used for 6 months or more, please store the battery in a room temperature environment. Please fully charge before storage. Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. to come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury. ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE BATTERY DISPOSAL The following toxic and corrosive materials are in the batteries used in this Battery: Lithium Ion, a toxic material. All toxic materials must be disposed of in a specified manner to prevent contamination of the environment. Before disposing of damaged or worn out Lithium-Ion Batterys, contact your local waste disposal agency, or the local Environmental Protection Agency for information and specific instructions. Take the batteries to a local recycling and/or disposal center, certified for lithium-ion disposal. If the Battery cracks or breaks, with or without leaks, do not recharge it and do not use. Dispose of it and replace with a new Battery. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT! To avoid injury and risk of fire, explosion, or electric shock, and to avoid damage to the environment: Cover the battery's terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. DO NOT attempt to remove or destroy any of the Battery components. DO NOT attempt to open the Battery. If a leak develops, the released electrolytes are corrosive and toxic. DO NOT get the solution in the eyes or on skin, and do not swallow it. DO NOT place these batteries in your regular household trash. DO NOT incinerate. DO NOT place them where they will become part of any waste landfill or municipal solid waste stream. Take them to a certified recycling or disposal center. 2-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY BATTERY WARRANTY StrikeMaster hereby warranties this product, to the original purchaser with proof of purchase, for a period of two (2) years against defects in materials, parts or workmanship. Batteries must be charged in accordance with the operator s manuals directions and regulations in order to be valid. StrikeMaster, at its own discretion will repair or replace any and all parts found to be defective, through normal use, free of charge to the customer. This warranty is valid only for units which have been used for personal use that have not been hired or rented for industrial/ commercial use, and that have been maintained in accordance with the instructions in the owner s manual supplied with the product from new. ITEMS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY 1. Any part that has become inoperative due to misuse, commercial use, abuse, neglect, accident, improper maintenance, or alteration; or 2. The unit, if it has not been operated and/or maintained in accordance with the owner s manual; or 3. Normal wear, except as noted below; 4. Routine maintenance items such as lubricants, bla de sharpening; 5. Normal deterioration of the exterior finish due to use or exposure.
