SMW HISTORICAL TIMELINE 2004 SMW Manufacturing is incorporated in Munith, Michigan. 2016 In 2016 SMW Manufacturing will open its new corporate headquarters in their Taylor, MI facility. The Taylor facility will also become home to SMW s new state of the art heat treat division. 2015 In 2015 SMW adds a new induction heating system. This expands SMW s portfolio to offer hot forged components. 2004 2010 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2010 SMW opens a new 80,000 sq. ft. facility 20 miles west of Detroit and 10 minutes away from metro airport in Belleville MI. This new facility became SMW s R&D facility as well as allowed for production expansion. 2012 Through acquisition SMW opens a new 100,000 sq. ft. facility in Taylor, MI. This would become SMW s world class machining facility. Also in 2012, SMW opened a supplier village at Tenneco Automotive in Kettering, Ohio. This is home to the company s 205XL which is capable of manufacturing the longest cold formed parts in the world. 2014 SMW opens a new tool manufacturing company, Next Tool in Belleville MI. Also SMW adds simulation capabilities within its engineering department further empowering the companies creativity and innovation.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO Heavy Truck SMW is a leading manufacturer in cold formed heavy truck wheel bolts, studs spacers and spindle nuts. Industrial SMW s portfolio also includes industrial products such as deep well sockets, wire rope sleeves and ferrules. Mining/Construction SMW cold forms millions of components that are used for road construction, mining and other commercial construction needs. Automotive Being in the motor city, SMW has a diverse portfolio within the automotive industry. This includes IPB, EPB and Front brake pistons (34MM-60MM), inner-metals and sensors.
VERTICAL INTEGRATION SMW FUTURE INITIATIVE GLOBAL EXPANSION S.L.P., Mexico Poland IMPROVING EFFICIENCIES SMW s current and future focus is in vertically integrating outside processes in effort to improve our core business model. This includes FNC/Anneal and Coating capabilities at our Taylor/Ceca Facilities. SMW is investigating all opportunities to improve upon its internal efficiencies. Our current efforts are in the process of improving set-up time predominantly within our forging and cold forming areas. We believe through the use of robotic automation we can intrinsically improve our set-up process, once again revolutionizing the industry.

QUALITY FOCUSED TS-16949 Certified 2008 Lean Six-Sigma 2010 VDA Certified 2014 ISO 14001 Certified 2015 The ISO/TS16949 is an ISO technical specification aimed at the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that relies on a collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste. The VDA Quality Management System certification is an extension of ISO 9001 for the automotive industry as required by automotive manufacturers in Germany. The ISO 14001 standard, which represents the core set of standards used by organizations for designing and implementing an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).
