Product Category ebus Button Panel Decora Series Setup Guide IPORTANT: www.extron.com Go to www.extron.com for the complete user guide and installation instructions before connecting the product to the power source. Overview The Extron ebus Button Panel (EBP) 05 D and EBP 06 D ebus Button Panels are fully customizable AV system control interfaces for use with Extron IPCP Pro Series Control Processors. They can be mounted in walls or furniture in any standard Decora opening. NOTE: These products are only for use with Extron U listed IPCP Pro controller products. Each EBP button panel includes two ebus ports, which support power and communications between the IPCP Pro control processor and ebus devices. Up to eight ebus endpoint devices such as EBP button panels can be connected to the control processor and to each other in various cabling topologies. Cabling topology refers to the physical layout of cabling interconnections between devices in a network such as an ebus system. ebus systems can include daisy chain, star, or hybrid system (a combination of both types) topologies (see the ebus Technology Reference Guide, available on www.extron.com, for basic diagrams). Every endpoint device must have a unique identification address (bus ID) within the system. Setup involves setting bus ID DIP switches on the EBPs, then using Extron Global Configurator (GC) Plus and Professional software, or Global Scripter programming, to configure the control processor. Once configured, the AV system can be controlled from any of its EBPs. This guide provides basic instructions for an experienced installer to install an EBP 05 D or EBP 06 D button panel. For more details on the EBPs, see the ebus Technology Reference Guide, available on www.extron.com. For details on configuration, see the software help files. EBP 05 D (left) and EBP 06 D (right) Front Panels NOTE: Use Global Configurator Plus and Professional to configure the EBP buttons and EDs. A Input and Function Buttons if these buttons are used to select an input, they can be configured as a group to act in a mutually exclusive manner. However, the buttons can also be configured to carry out separate functions. In that case, they can be removed from the input group and configured independently. All the buttons are back-lit with EDs to identify the active button. Dim back lighting helps read inactive buttons in low ambient lighting. B Power Buttons are labelled and OFF and control the power to the display device. The button has a nub that can be felt with the finger tips. C Volume Buttons can be used to increment or decrement audio volume. D Transmit ED at the top right corner of the faceplate blinks once when the programmed action of the button is performed. E Volume ED eter these five EDs can be configured to show the volume level.

C Reset Button resets the firmware to the factory installed version.. Disconnect the ebus cable that is providing power. 2. Press and hold down the Reset button while reconnecting power. During the reset process, the front panel buttons are not lit and the ebus Connection Status ED is lit. After about 30 seconds, the front panel buttons are lit dimly and the unit firmware is restored to the original factory installed version. For information about updating the unit firmware, see the ebus Technology Reference Guide. D DIP Switches Up to eight units can be connected to one control processor. Each unit connected to the same control processor must have a unique BUS ID, which is set using DIP switches. Planning the System and Installation When planning to install an ebus system you must consider how many EBP button panels to use, maximum cable distance, cabling topology, and mounting. See the ebus Technology Reference Guide for more information about ebus topologies. Installation Step : Get Ready Use the following check list to prepare for the installation. Download and install the latest version of the software, firmware, and device drivers needed to configure the IPCP Pro and control the connected AV products. See the IPCP Pro Series User Guide (available at www.extron.com) for details on software and drivers. Obtain network information (IP addresses, passwords, DHCP settings, and the like) and the AC address for the control processor. Obtain model names, drivers, and setup information for AV devices. Determine which ebus cabling topologies to use and obtain cables, mounting hardware, and any power supplies or hubs required by that configuration. 2

Product Category Step 2: Prepare the Installation Site ATTENTI: Installation and service must be performed by authorized personnel only. installation et l entretien doivent être effectués par le personnel autorisé uniquement. Extron recommends installing the EBP into a grounded, U isted electrical junction box. Extron recommande d installer le EBP dans un boîtier d encastrement électrique mis à la terre, listé U. If the EBP will be installed into fine furniture, it is best to hire a licenced, bonded craftsperson to cut the access hole and perform the physical installation so the surface will not be damaged. S il est prévu d installer le EBP dans du beau mobilier, il est préférable de faire appel à un artisan autorisé et qualifié pour couper le trou d accès et réaliser l installation de telle façon que la surface ne soit pas endommagée. Follow all national and local building and electrical codes that apply to the installation site. Respectez tous les codes électriques et du bâtiment, nationaux et locaux, qui s appliquent au site de l installation. All electrical installation should be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with local and national building codes, fire and safety codes, and local and national electrical codes. Toute installation électrique devrait être effectuée par un personnel qualifié, conformément aux codes du bâtiment, aux codes incendie et sécurité, et aux codes électriques locaux et nationaux. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance When planning where to install these devices, you may need to consider factors affecting accessibility of the button panel such as height from the floor, distance from obstructions, and how far a user must reach to press the buttons. For guidelines, see sections 307 ( Protruding Objects ) and 308 ( Reach Ranges ) of the 200 ADA Standards for Accessible Design available at http://www.ada.gov/regs200/200adastandards/200adastandards.pdf. Site preparation The EBP 05 D and EBP 06 D fit any standard Decora wall opening. The units ship with a mud ring. APTOP UTE 2 Step 4: Set the ebus ID Addresses Up to eight units can be connected to one control processor. Each unit connected to the same control processor must have a unique six-bit, binary ebus ID (address), which is set with the DIP switch assembly on the side panel of the EBP (figure 5, ). If other modules have the same bus ID, address conflicts may cause one or more of the panels to not be recognized by the IPCP Pro control processor. Set the bus identification DIP switches for each EBP button panel in the system using the diagrams in this section as a guide. NOTES: By factory default, the EBP 05 D is set to address three (binary: 0000). The EBP 06 D is set to address four (binary: 00000). Any address can be used except address 0 (binary: 000000), which is reserved (as the address of the controller) and may not be used.
