COMPRESSED GAS, EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES.
THE NEW BENEFITS FROM COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS CNG32000 is a ship for the maritime transport of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), designed by Fincantieri Offshore, which introduces an IMPORTANT INNOVATION in the natural gas market: gas can be transported by sea without undergoing liquefaction, but by simple compression. This makes transport and delivery more PRACTICAL AND FASTER, more CONVENIENT and allows to AVOID THE WASTE of such a precious resource as natural gas. INNOVATIVE A new and exclusive solution, with a series of patents and innovations that produce various operational, economic and environmental benefits. VERSATILE Transporting CNG by sea is the ideal solution for all situations that do not justify investing in pipelines or liquefaction or regasification facilities. Thanks to CNG32000 the so-called marginal and stranded fields can be recovered and enhanced, monetising those small amounts of gas that would otherwise be wasted. According to estimates, natural gas reserves with these characteristics amount to 180,000 bcm (over 950 trillion cubic feet - tcf). The CNG transport process is very simple: it does not require a compressor station on the loading location, since it is already installed on the ship, and can moor at traditional piers without special infrastructure. Once the gas that is transported this way reaches its destination, it is practically ready to be used, and can therefore be destined for regions lacking pipelines and regasification facilities. A niche market that is nonetheless very interesting.
COST-EFFECTIVE This solution, which is based on proven technologies, allows to compress gas at the ideal compression point (around 160 bar), in which the least amount of energy is used achieving the best results in terms of compression factor. CNG32000 expresses its ideal cost-benefit ratio in short-medium distances (up to 1,500 miles) and in small-medium amounts (up to 500 MMscf/d). The initial investments are particularly cost-effective. In fact, since the gas does not need to undergo an expensive treatment before it is loaded or after it is unloaded, 75% of costs are attributable to the ship and transport, two flexible expense items that can be re-modulated according to actual needs. Additionally, CNG can be marketed, thus not only avoiding costs for re-injecting in reservoirs but also providing conditions for additional revenues. ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY Using CNG helps reducing CO 2 emissions and its recovery allows to observe the increasingly widespread and strict regulations against the practice of gas flaring. An issue that regards in particular producers in the oil & gas sector, who need to dispose of well-test gases and associated gases originating from oil extraction. The exploitation of these gases, so that they are transformed from byproducts into a resource, produces significant benefits both for sector operators and for the environment. SAFE CNG32000 is a ship that has been designed with the maximum level of safety, modular, equipped with a double-hull and with a cutting-edge system (patent pending) of racks that are separately demountable for more in-depth and safer maintenance. The project has been granted the approval in principle from the RINA Classification Society.

Each rack is composed by 12 pressure vessels of about 5.35 m 3 (189 ft 3 ). The total number of racks is about 500, arranged 10 cargo holds containing 50 racks each. 3 BALLAST TANKS: the mid body portion of the ship, in way of the cargo holds, is provided with a double bottom and double hull. Part of the double bottom is utilized as ballast water tanks. Ballast water tanks are placed in the fore end for trimming purpose. Consumable tanks are situated on aft and forward zone. 4 ACCOMODATION SPACES: suitable of a complement of 21 persons, located in the aft part of the unit, in a superstructure above the main deck. 5 CNG HANDLING SYSTEM (including the compressor): located forward the cargo holds, above the main deck. 6 PROPULSION: the unit is equipped with 2 propulsion devices ( azipod ), of about 4,500 kw each and the power generation is realized by 3 diesel generators, dual fuel engines, of about 4,300 kw each. A specific emergency generator is installed, aft besides the accommodation superstructure, above the main deck, in accordance with the safety requirements. 5 1
