CHAIRMAN S MESSAGE Dear Members, I begin on a happy note that our association was approved by the Registrar of Society on 28 May 2007 (Registration number : 1036-07-SEL). The formation of Agriculture Laboratory Association of Malaysia (AgLAM) has been a challenging one but fortunately, with the support of a dedicated team of Management Committee (MC), we managed to successfully register the association. It is well taken and accepted that the objectives of AgLAM are to function as a forum to promote good laboratory practices (GLP) and to organize proficiency testing programme with the aim to improve member s laboratory performance. It is also our duty to up-date members on the latest development in the analytical technique of agriculture testing in particular, in soil, plant and fertilizer analyses. With the current technological developments and globalization, laboratory analysis becomes closely linked to other issues like environment, international trade, consumerism, to mention a few. It is therefore necessary for AgLAM to adapt to these changes and re-define its role in the constantly changing global environment. I am also happy to say that the activities organized by AgLAM especially the proficiency testing programme in soil, plant and fertilizer analyses for the year 2007 have been very successful. I would like to thank the coordinators for their contributions to make the programme a success. With those remarks, on behalf of the MC, I wish to apologize for any shortcomings in the course of our dealings and wish all the members and AgLAM the very best for the future. The registration of AgLAM was approved by ROS on 28/5/2007. The registration number is 1036-07-SEL. 2. The constitution booklet was printed at a cost of RM 19.50/booklet and was distributed to members. 3. Members will also be given the following : a) 2 membership cards b) Car sticker 4. Presentation of portal package by Jetaime Supply Enterprise on 27/9/2007. Issued PO to Jetaime S.E. on 11/10/2007 amounting to RM 5,000 for basic website yearly subscription, customized website & installation and basic sms yearly subscription & installation. 5. New account was opened at Public Bank, Sg. Buloh on 19/9/2007. The authorized signatories shall be the Chairman (in his absence, the Vice-Chairman) and the Honorary Treasurer (in his absence, the Honorary Secretary). 2. The association s income was derived from the sponsorship from suppliers for conference and the registration fee for conference from the members. The excess of income over expenditure was RM 9,942.50. After no further comments, the report was proposed to be adopted by Cik Haryati Mansor and was seconded by Cik Kartini Abd Rahim. 4.0 AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION Noted There is no amendment to the constitution. 4.0 PROFECIENCY TESTING PROGRAMME 4.1 General The preparation and distribution of the soil, plant and fertilizer samples were carried out by the selected coordinators. Buloh The collated results were summarized by the respective coordinators, distributed to the participating laboratories and discussed at regular meetings. 4.2 Sample Distribution The participating laboratories received 4 samples each for soil, fertilizer and plant samples every four months. The laboratories analysed the samples according to their own procedures and for those elements they are interested in. 6.0 AgLAM REGISTRATION The registration of AgLAM was approved by ROS on 28/5/2007. The registration number is 1036-07-SEL. The constitution booklet was printed at a cost of RM 19.50/booklet and was distributed to members. Members will also be given 2 membership cards and a car sticker 7.0 AgLAM PORTAL Presentation of portal package by Jetaime Supply Enterprise on 27/9/2007. Issued PO to Jetaime S.E. on 11/10/2007 amounting to RM 5,000 for basic website yearly subscription, customized website and installation and basic sms yearly subscirtion & installation. 8.0 FINANCIAL STATEMENT New account was opened at Public Bank, Sg. Buloh on 19/9/2007. The authorized signatories shall be the Chairman (in his absence, the Vice-Chairman) and the Honorary Treasurer (in his absence, the Honorary Secretary).
