THE MOST ADVANCED AND EFFECTIVE BOLT LOCKING SYSTEM SOLID-LOCK offers a state of the art wedge locking system ensuring bolt connections from coming loose by using tension instead of friction. SOLID-LOCK washers relies on tension to lock a bolt connection. Although SOLID-LOCK wedge locking washers have a locking effect even with a low preload in the bolt, the washers needs a specific preload in the bolt to have the wedge-locking washers to perform properly. If no preload at all in a connection, the wedge-locking washers will not be able to lock the connection. SOLID-LOCK washers are composed by two washers (pair) which are glued together, providing an assembly-friendly, and time-saving fastening concept. These unique features of the SOLID-LOCK washers will prevent it from coming loose ensuring the best locking method for all kinds of industries. The wedge locking technology provided by SOLID- LOCK represents a reduction in maintenance costs and the need for retightening of loose bolts is eliminated. The level of safety in the installations is also improved. This pair consists of two identical washers having a set of cams on one side and a serration on the other. These washers wedge each other and lock themselves because the angle α of the washer cam is larger than the angle β of the bolt thread. By tightening the bolt, the serrations outside the washer will grip into the head of the bolt/nut and on the material surface, utilizing tension instead of friction to lock the bolted connection. 4

THOROUGH TESTS AND APPROVALS SOLID-LOCK washers have undergone rigorously tests by world class laboratories, and are proven in Junker vibration tests, and NASM 1312-7 test. THE JUNKER TEST A Junker test is a mechanical test to determine the point at which a bolted joint loses its preload when exposed by transverse vibration. Design engineers apply the test to determine the point which locking methods secure elements, and failes when subject to vibrations. The Junker test has been adopted into international fastener standards such as DIN 25201 (previous: DIN 65151). Safe-Bolt has through SOLID-LOCK a fully equipped in-house laboratory using the latest technology and highly advanced testing equipment. TORQUE GUIDELINES Values in tables below shows the minimum torque you need for a secure locking of SOLID-LOCK`s wedge locking washers, provided that the compound is lubricated. A connection that is not lubricated, will need a 15% higher torque value because more force is used to overcome the friction in the connection. The maximum torque value is always dependent on the yield strength for the bolts.
