STANDARD FEATURES Safety Shut-off: All No. 140 Series Valves are equipped with stainless steel ballchecks upstream from the seats which instantaneously shut off flow of medium being gaged in case of gage glass breakage. The ball may be omitted on request. Bonnet: The bonnet on all No. 140 Series Valves screws directly onto the outside of the forged body. The inner area bears on the packing gland. Union Tank Connection: Series 140 Valves are equipped with union tank connections which permit simple installation and easy access to the ballcheck. Union Gage Connection: No. 147 and No. 144 are furnished with a union gage connection which allows a top and bottom connected gage to be turned to any desired angle for convenient visibility. It also makes possible removal of the gage without removing the valves or draining the liquid from the vessel - a feature which saves time when the gages must be cleaned or maintained. Offset Patten: No.146 and NO.147 valve bodies are designed so that the gage connections are offset W' from the «t of the vessel connections. Long life is assured by the use of stainless steel for the stem, and ballcheck. Materials used to conform to or exceed requirements of AI.S.I., AS.T.M. and/or A.P.I. - AS.M.E. for recommended pressures. SPECIAL CONNECTIONS (extra charge) No. 140 Series Valves can be furnished upon request with Flanged, Socket Welding, Solid Shank (non-union) and Spherical Union Connections. The use of Spherical Unions on inlets and outlets with top and bottom connected gages is particularly valuable lest the vessel connections are not perfectly parallel. This construction will compensate for up to 10 misalignment of vessel tapping in any direction from the stem axis and up to plus or minus %" variation from mean centers. The same compensation may be had on side connected gages using single spherical tailpieces on the outlet connections. Quick Closing: Quick-closing valve stems with leversforchain operation. Exclusive equalizing plate assures positive closing ot both valves. Stems have quadruple thread for full closing or opening in Y.I turn. Bleed Fitting: A bleed fitting is available making it possible to bleed pressure from the valve and connected gage without breaking any threaded connections. The bleed fitting is designed so its stem cannot be withdrawn accidentally. It is tapped for ji" N.P.T. discharge. Downstream Ball Check: No. 67. An additional safety feature in the bottom valve ofatopand bottom connected assembly is an optional ball check on the downstream side ofthe bottom valve seat. Valves can be furnished in special metals for special applications. Typical are other stainless steels, monel, carpenter No. 20, Hastelloy "C". For temperature service over 600 F, specify high temperature packing. STANDARD FEATURES OS&Y + Backseating Stem: The yoke supports the stem away from the valve body so the threaded portion of the stem is uneffected by the heat and does not come in contact with process fluids. The stem has a backseating area which allows repacking the valve under pressure. Renewable Seat: The seat may be renewed by removing the seat with a %" socket wrench. Union Gage Connection: Nos. 74 and 77 are furnished with a union gage connection which allows a top and bottom connected gage to be turned to any desired angle for convenient visibility. It also makes the possible removal of the gage without removing the valves - a feature which saves time when gages must be cleaned or maintained. Offset Pattern: Nos. 76 and 77 valve bodies are designed so the gage and drain connections are offset %" from the ct of the vessel connections. An additional safety feature in the bottom valve of a top and bottom connected assembly is a vertical rising ball check on the downstream side of the seat. This arrangement shuts off the flow of liquid in case of fracture of the instrument or connecting piping and eliminates the horizontal ball in the bottom fitting. A W' male drain is standard. A cap may be furnished on request. Ball checks are horizontal with side connected gages. Bleed Fitting: A bleed fitting is available making it possible to bleed pres sure from the valve and connected instrument without breaking any threaded connections. The bleed fit ting is designed so its stem cannot be with drawn accidentally. It is tapped for ~" discharge tube. No. 86-H - standard construction No. 86-HO - with Viton "0" ring between bonnet and body and under renewable seat and drain plug. No. 86-V or 86-VO - with vertical rising ball check Standard construction with a spiral wound gasket between bonnet and body is rated at 6000 psi at 100 F. When a Viton "0" ring is used (~o. 86-HO or 86-VO) in place of the spiral wound gasket this valve is suitable for pressures to 10,000 psi at 400 0 F. It is designed specifi ~ cally to be compatible with Jerguson's 10,000 psi Series 51 Flat Glass Gage. OS& Y construction provides a steel yoke which supports the stem away from the body of the valve. This assures perfect seating and eliminates the possibility of galling at the seat. Acme threads are used to assure easy operation. When the stem is backed out to its limit the knob on the stem seats against the bonnet sleeve allowing the stem to be repacked when the valve is under pressure.
