General Safety Instructions WARNING - to guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following: 1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. 2. DANGER - To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is present near electrical equipment. Unless a situation is encountered that is explicitly addressed by the provided maintenance and troubleshooting sections, do not attempt repairs yourself, refer to an authorized service facility. 1. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 2. WARNING: Before installing the bag filter housing, check that the piping system operating conditions do not exceed their maximum pressure and temperature rating limits of the filter. 3. WARNING: CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE!! Make sure to relieve all pressure before performing and maintenance. 3. Carefully examine the filtration system after installation. It should not be powered up if there is water on parts not intended to be wet. 4. Do not operate the filter system if it has a damaged power supply, if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. 5. Always shut off water flow and drain system before changing bag filters or performing maintenance activities. 6. Do not use this filtration system for anything other than the intended use. The use of attachments not approved, recommended or sold by the manufacturer / distributor may cause an unsafe condition. 7. Intended for indoor use. Do not install this filtration system where it will be exposed to the weather. Do not store this filtration system where it will be exposed to temperatures below freezing unless all the water has been drained from it and the water supply has been disconnected. 8. Read and observe all the important notices and warnings on the water filtration system. 9. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less Amperes or Watts than the filtration system rating may over heat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or accidentally pulled from the outlet. 2 Aqua Treatment Service, Inc. 2012 www.aquat.com

Function / Description ATS bag filter housings are intended to be installed in pipeline systems to remove unwanted solids from fluids. All ATS filter systems are designed to withstand rated pressures. Single bag housings should be installed only in systems where the flow can be interrupted in order to change the filter bags. Duplexed housing allows bag change without shutting down the flow. Installation NOTICE: Please remove all shipping and crating materials carefully. Be sure to remove the plugs from the inlet and outlet opening. Dispose of all crating materials safely. Pre-Installation Check List Water Pressure If the water pressure is over 100 psi, a pressure reducing valve must be installed before the equipment and set at 85 psi Electrical A continuous supply of 110 to 120 volt - 60 hertz current should be located at installation site of the equipment. A drain, must be available within 20 feet of the equipment. Location of the equipment must be where it is not subject to freezing, direct sunlight or room Temperature over 120 F. Installation 1. All plumbing must conform to local codes 2. Location Selection If it is likely that supplementary water treatment equipment will be required, make certain adequate additional space is available. Do not install any equipment closer to a water boiler than a total run of 10 feet of piping between the outlet of the equipment and the inlet to the any hot water. 3. Water Line Connection Close main water supply valve. Open to relieve water pressure and drain system. Set the equipment into installation position. Assess the installation (i.e. type of pipe, size of lines, etc.) and obtain necessary plumbing fittings for installation. Use Teflon tape on all threaded connections and avoid over tightening. WARNING: If your piping system is subject to impulse pressure resulting in a water hammer condition, a surge tank or other means must be provided to remove this condition. 4. Flanged Connection Flange bolts should be tight enough to slightly compress the gasket and make a good seal, without distorting or putting excessive stress on the flanges. Suitable washers should be used between the bolt head and flange and nut and flange. Nuts and 5/8 diameter bolts should be metal, well lubricated and used with soft rubber gaskets. Bolts should be tightened in alternating sequence to a final torque of 15-25 foot pounds. 5. Electrical Connection All electrical supplies should be installed and checked by a qualified electrical contractor and follow all local codes. (See wiring diagram on page for details) 6. Drain Connection Run drain from system to open floor drain, making sure not to hard connect the line to the floor drain. 7. Bag Filter Installation Filter housings are not delivered with the bags installed. Please follow these installation steps compleatly. 1. Open cover and remove the bag hold down ring. 2. If opening the housing for the first time, remove the restraining basket and clean the inside of the housing to remove any shipping dust or packing debris. 3. Inspect all O-Rings, lubricat with compatible lubricant. 4. Place the restainer basket (if not already installed) into the filter housing. 5. Insert the filter bag into the restainer basket, after first removing the label from the bag. 6. Be crtain that the filter bag is pushed to the bottom of the basket and that the collar of the filter bag is pushed onto the rim of the restrainer basket. 7. Replace the bag hold down ring into the housing. Making sure it is on top of the filter bag collar. 8. Inspect the sealing surface and cover O-Ring to make sure they are clean and free of damage. 9. Close and seal cover, making sure not to over tighten the cover bolts. 8. Startup Prior to turning the water on, please check the following!! 1. Swing Bolts are secure and do not exceed recommend torque. 2. Electical conection is made and protected. 3. Bag filters are properly installed and all air purged from system. 4. Inlet and outlet flanges are securely fastened. 5. Slowly turn on water (making sure to check for leaks). WARNING: Always make sure that flow has been switched to alternate bag filter before performing any maintenance. 4 Aqua Treatment Service, Inc. 2012 www.aquat.com

Maintenance Once the desired service flow has been established, the filter will operate efficiently until filter beg is dirty. With the standard filter basket, no more then 20 PSI Differential Pressure through the filter should be attained. Operating the filter unit with a high differential, may cause the filter bags to rupture and/or cause damage to the filter system or downstream equipment. o. Open the inlet valve (1/4 turn) to the filter housing. p. Allow water to slowly fill the Filter Housing there by letting the air escape and the Filter Housing to repressurize. Once full, close inlet water valve and pressure relief valve. To prevent excessive pressure loss, a differential pressure switch is installed and wired to the Control Panel. When this switch exceed 20 PSI an alarm is trigere in the Control Panel. This notifies the operator to know that maintenance is required. Steps for ag Replacement: 1. Determan which ag needs to be changed, via the indicator light on the Control Panel. 2. Pressing the button on the Control Panel will silance the alarm, however this will not turn off the indicater light. 3. To replace the Bag Filter you must first change which Filter is in operation. To do this you must follow these step. a. Open the inlet valve to the non-dirty filter housing. b. Open the outlet valve to the non-dirty filter housing. c. Close the inlet valve to the dirty filter housing. d. Close the outlet valve to the dirty filter housing. e. Open the drain line on the dirty filter housing. This will relieve the pressure and allow the differential switch to reset and turn off the indicator light. f. Loosen the swing bolts and remove the lid. g. Remove the Stainless Steel compression Spring (BFS-2) h. Remove Bag Filter i. Remove Stainless Steel Basket and clean. Once cleaned place the basket back into Filter Housing. j. Install NEW Bag Filter. k. Place Stainless Steel Spring back into Filter Housing. l. Clean and lubricate the O-Ring. m. Place the lid back in position and hand tighten Swing Bolts. n. With the drain closed, open the pressure releaf valve attop Filter Housing. 6 Aqua Treatment Service, Inc. 2012 www.aquat.com
