* COMPANY INFORMATION PAGE 1 INTRODUCTION Dulhunty Power is a manufacturer and supplier of quality Electricity Transmission and Distribution products. The company has manufacturing plants in Sydney (Australia),Yangzhou (China) Bangkok (Thailand) and Darul Ehsan (Malaysia), as well as sales offices in New Zealand and Hong Kong. The company supplies its own products to utilities and contractors throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, and the Asia Pacific region. It also supplies components and fittings for a number of European and American companies involved in the electricity transmission and distribution sector. Dulhunty Power is most well known for its range of vibration control products and its technical capability in measuring and resolving vibration control problems in transmission line applications. The company has invested heavily in developing products and solutions for Aeolian vibration, and is one of the foremost companies in this field in the world. Apart from manufacturing and selling a large range of its own products, Dulhunty Power also represents a number of other manufacturers, supplying products including glass, porcelain and composite insulators, substation fittings, fault indicators, height meters, tension monitoring systems, switchgear, corona cameras, emergency tower structures, and high temperature conductors. Dulhunty Power arose from the merger of Dulhunty Industries Pty. Ltd., founded by industry veteran Mr Philip Dulhunty, Dulhunty Engineering Ltd., a Hong Kong-based company and Dulhunty Yangzhou Line Fittings Co. Ltd. (Philip Dulhunty was also the founder of Dulmison more then years ago). The merger combined the technical and marketing capacity of the Australian company with the low cost manufacturing of the Chinese company, and has opened new markets for both. In its first year of operations, the new Dulhunty Power has greatly expanded its horizons with sales from Australia to Finland and from Morocco to the USA.

OTHER S SAGO METER G PAGE 135 The Sagometer is a second-generation design of a new technology developed for the express purpose of accurately monitoring conductor ground clearance/sag on overhead transmission lines. The Sagometer provides the information needed to confidently: Study conductor behaviour for the purpose of validating and/or enhancing static rating Establish the dynamic rating for a monitored line Collect data on high-temperature conductor operation

OTHER S FAULT INDICATORS G PAGE 136 Merlin Gerin Fault Indicators. The Flite 11X range are single phase Fault Passage Indicators for Overhead Lines. They are used in a group of 3 units at each location in order to allow for the detection of all possible fault configurations. It must be installed at welldefined strategic locations along the overhead line such as the start of a spur, Load Break switch location or at the radial arms of a junction. They mount directly on the live HV conductor through a specially designed spring operated clamp. They can be fitted live line via a hot stick fitted with a special adapter. When a fault occurs all the Flite 11X located between the sub station and the faulted section will trip and start flashing whilst the Flite 11Xs located beyond the faulted section will stay idle. Flashers The red LED flash is very powerful and is seen on a 360 0 solid angle of vision. The Flite 11X Range of Products: FLITE 110-SA can be adjusted on site with its embedded DIP switches. The light power of the Flite 110-SA is 40 lumen. Flite 116-SA has a similar design to the Flite 110-SA but incorporates a Short Range Radio to allow it to counicate with a G200 RTU and can be interfaced into SCADA applications via GSM and CDMA telephone networks using DNP3 protocol.

OTHER S FAULT INDICATORS G PAGE 137 Flite 110-SA Fault passage indicator for overhead networks Application A Fault Passage Indicator (FPI) is mandatory to locate faults on Distribution networks. It must match electrical network characteristics and be very visible in order to help maintenance crew to quickly locate network faults. A FPI must be coordinated with the upstream recloser or circuit breaker and therefore, depending on its location on the MV network, the trigger value may change. If need be, Flite 110-SA is adjustable on site thanks to its embedded dip-switches. One single product therefore covers all customer requirements. A FPI is always able to indicate permanent faults, but utilities are often interested to track transient faults as well (a fault is transient when the upstream protection device eliminates the fault and successfully recloses). Flite 110-SA offers both facilities with the same unit, flashing differently upon permanent faults and transient faults but with the same flash power. This feature is user adjustable: one single product therefore covers these two applications. Fault detection Flite 110-SA is fitted with two sensors, one measuring the magnetic field (image of the current) and one measuring the electric field (image of the voltage). A fault is either a passing over an absolute current threshold (Imax) or a current variation

OTHER S FAULT INDICATORS G PAGE 138 Flite 110-SA Detects both short-circuits and low current earth faults Self adaptation to network voltage and frequency Highly visible red flash light Indicates both permanent and transient faults User adjustable Very low power consumption Operation Upon installation on a live conductor, Flite 110-SA adjusts itself to power frequency and network voltage, then enables its fault detection function. Fault types: Flite 110-SA detects and indicates both earth faults and shortcircuits between phases. In addition Flite 110-SA indicates both permanent and transient faults. Fault confirmation: to avoid false indications, faults are confirmed with a voltage dip occurring within 70 s after the threshold has been reached, which indicates that the upstream protection system has opened the circuit or started a reclosing cycle. Inrush restraint: upon line energising, an inrush restraint filter avoids possible false fault indication due to transformer magnetising currents. Reset: once a permanent fault has been detected and flashing has started, upon power return, Flite 110-SA waits for the MV to stabilise before resetting its flash, thus avoiding to stop flashing if the fault has not been cleared. Transient fault evolution: once Flite 110-SA is busy flashing for a transient fault, if a permanent fault occurs, the flash fault indication automatically changes from transient to permanent, thus helping the maintenance crew to treat fault priorities (first permanent faults, then transient ones).

OTHER S FAULT INDICATORS G PAGE 139 Easergy Flite 116-SA and Easergy G200 Terminal Unit Remote Fault Indicators for overhead lines Application: fast location of faulted circuits Traditional Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs or FCIs) with visual indication are of limited use on distribution networks with long outgoing feeders. To know the status of FPIs, the utility has to perform a "line patrol" as soon as the feeder protection device (CB or recloser) trips. This patrol is time-consuming and some network sections may be hard to access: traffic jams in urban areas, difficult terrain in rural areas, long outgoing feeders. The solution is to use the remote indicating Flite116-SA. Payback is quick because the outage time decreases: gain in non distributed energy is substantial and quality of supply increases. Flite 116 counicates through a low power licence free radio with a G200 RTU able to collect and transmit the information to a feeder automation SCADA or utility SCADA using open protocols such as IEC or DNP3.

OTHER S G FAULT INDICATORS PAGE 140 Easergy Flite 116-SA and Easergy G200 Terminal Unit Application: fast location of faulted circuits The Flite 116-SA being a low power consumption unit, the G200 is used as a gateway to link the Flite 116-SA FPI's to any SCADA or W0 intranet maintenance software. The G200 unit is mounted on an overhead line pole close to the Flite 116 radio Fault Passage Indicator and counicates: On one side to the Flite 116 units, via a spread spectrum license free radio (915-928 MHz) with low power consumption. On the other side to the distant acquisition system through a long range counication media: mobile telephone network (GSM/GPRS/CDMA) fixed telephone network (PSTN) radio (analog radio or radio modem) others through the local RS232 port. Basic functions The G200 basic functions are: Date and time stamp all events from Flite 116-SA DNP3 Protocol conversion for transmission to the SCADA system Send all the requested events to the W0 maintenance software and/or to the SCADA Allow remote parametering of Flite 116 units Allow local parametering of Flite 116 and G200 through the RS232 local port Storage capacity: 100 stamped events Monitoring in real time : MV presence/absance, load current

OTHER S FAULT INDICATORS G PAGE 141 Easergy Flite 116-SA and Easergy G200 Terminal Unit Fault detection Flite 116-SA is fitted with two sensors, one measuring the magnetic field (image of the current) and one measuring the electric field (image of the voltage). Upon installation on a live conductor, Flite 11X-SA adjusts itself to power frequency and network voltage, then enables its fault detection function. Fault types: Flite 116-SA detects and indicates earth faults (on di/dt scheme) and short-circuits with I MAX. Inrush restraint: upon line energizing, an inrush restraint filter avoids possible false fault indication due to transformer magnetising currents. Reset: by timer or by power return. Power Supply The G200 is powered by a 10W Solar Panel with a backup battery with a life up to 5 years. G200 unit with solar panel The Flite 116-SA is powered by a Lithium battery with a life of over 10 years and a total flash duration of >400Hours.

OTHER S CAT-1 G PAGE 142 CAT-1 TRANSMISSION LINE RATING SYSTEM* Increases transmission capability with maximum reliability No statistical risk-taking due to weather variability Eliminates clearance uncertainty caused by creep The CAT-1 system monitors the status of transmission lines by measuring the same parameters used to design the line. It measures the one parameter that is truly representative of the average condition of the conductor over an entire transmission line suspension section of several spans the tension. The Rating Principle Figure below represents a simplified example of a multispan transmission line suspension section. Because the suspension insulator strings at the suspension towers are free to swing longitudinally, the horizontal component H of the tension equalizes over the entire suspension section. Normally, the span shapes can be approximated as parabolas. Therefore, sags S1, S2 and S3 are all inversely proportional to the horizontal load H and directly proportional to the squares of the spans lengths L1, L2 and L3, regardless of conductor creep. By monitoring the conductor tension to verify that it remains above the minimum design limit, the design clearances at all points of the suspension section can be maintained. Transmission line suspension section. Horizontal tension remains constant over the entire suspension section (ruling span principle) CAT-1 OPERATING PHILOSOPHY The CAT-1 operating philosophy is based on recognising that weather variables are interrelated and probabilistic. The chances of both high temperature and low wind speed occurring along an entire suspension section are essentially zero. Thus, presently used ampacity limits can be increased by 15-25%. Although this causes a low finite risk, (typically less than 1%) of exceeding the limiting clearances, applying CAT-1 system will provide a reliable and accurate warning system for these potential clearance violations.
