We are looking forward to welcoming you to Kendrew Barracks. Javelin Trackdays aim is simple, to organise safe, no nonsense and enjoyable events. We are extremely fortunate in being allowed access to Kendrew Barracks. Please make sure we will be welcomed back again by not abusing the kind tolerance of the station and the local population. PLEASE SHOW COURTESY AND CONSIDERATION IN YOUR DRIVING WHEN IN THE VICINITY OF THE VENUE LOW REVS, SPEED AND NOISE AT ALL TIMES WHEN NOT RACING OF COURSE Please report for Scrutineering, Noise Test and Documentation between 07.45am & 8.45am. Thunder Road is basically a 2-lane drag racing event over a 1-mile distance Please ensure ALL members of your party are aware of the following information On Arrival Please approach the venue as quietly as possible. Security at Kendrew Barracks is understandably high. Please follow the Javelin Trackdays / VXR signage. Upon arrival at the Airfield Gate Park as directed by marshals. DO NOT block the entrance. If meeting up with someone please do so before arriving. NOT by waiting at the gate. See below and BEFORE approaching the Gate make sure: - You have Photo ID available for inspection for all car occupants. This should be carried with you at all times on the station in case you are challenged. 1. Scrutineering - Once inside the venue please respect the speed limits and follow the arrows to Scrutineering or Supporter Parking, as appropriate. We anticipate that there may be a queue as cars are processed. Please save time by popping the engine cover and having paperwork, MOT Certificate (if appropriate) and helmets ready for inspection. After passing scrutineering your car will have Thunder Road competition number plates attached. For timekeeping purposes numbers must be attached to the front and rear plates or front and rear glass. ABSOLUTELY NO REVVING OF ENGINES BEFORE 9:30AM PLEASE The NOISE LIMIT for this event is 105dba Static and a Drive By limit relative to that static limit. Any car considered to be creating excessive noise on Drive By may be denied further access to the course. NO OPEN HEADERS, PLEASE The above rules are in place to protect the venue for future use. 2. Please park in the paddock and walk to Signing On in the VXR Unit. All participants will be required to sign a Risk Awareness / Indemnity Form and a Competition Licence Application Form. Upon completion of this you will be given a wristband which indicates completion and acceptance of the Risk / Indemnity. All drivers will need to show us their DVLA drivers licence before we can allow them to partake. NB - NO Licence means NO DRIVING. If this is a problem then please contact us ASAP and certainly before the day of the event. 3. The event opening and main Safety Briefing will be at 9.15 am inside the Vauxhall VXR Unit. This Briefing will detail items such as the Assembly Area, Staging, Start Procedure, Acceleration Zone, Deceleration Zone and the Return Route. 4. After the briefing you will go on a Convoy Familiarisation Run so you can see the layout of the venue. It will also afford you the opportunity of satisfying yourself that the course is suitable for you and your car. If you do not feel the course is suitable you are free to withdraw from the event at this point.

5. Passengers In the afternoon session, Signed On Passengers will be allowed on Single Lane Runs. To be able to Sign On passengers must accept to :- Pay a 5 Licence Fee (Cash Only). Be a minimum of 16 years old with written Parental or Full Time Legal Guardian consent.( Indemnity Form) Be able to use the Car Seating and Safety Equipment (Seatbelts etc) as per an Adult. Have Arm & Legs covered whilst on track. Not use any hand held device whilst in the car on the course ie Mobile Phone, Camera or timing device. 6. Please read the Race Procedures. 7. Catering and Facilities There will be a Vauxhall VXR Race Awning and Catering Unit on site throughout the event, both will be sited in the paddock. Driver & Supporter Wristband holders will be able to avail themselves of refreshments and BBQ Lunch courtesy of Vauxhall throughout the day. Toilet facilities will be located alongside the paddock. 8. Supporters - Must have purchased a Supporter Pass and be preregistered noon on Thursday 4 th August. For those fortunate enough to be allowed in to the venue there will be defined areas where you will be allowed to watch. Due to speeds involved and the nature of the event viewing is very limited. We must insist that you DO NOT venture outside of these areas. All grassed areas are out of bounds to supporters. An adult must accompany any children at all times. 9. Litter / Foreign Object Debris / Smoking - Is a major safety problem on airfields. Please use the bags & bins provided. Cigarette butts are a specific problem dispose of them carefully and do not leave on the ground. You are responsible for providing your own ash tray if required. NO smoking is allowed in the Paddock or Race Assembly Areas. 10. Fuel & Oil - Please make sure you have enough fuel to complete the event before you arrive. If you have to refuel from cans then you should be clearly visible and the procedure must be completed in a safe manner. In the event of fuel or oil spillage please let the organisers know immediately. If your car has a tendency to drip oil then please use a drip tray. 11. Valuables - Items and vehicles brought onto the venue are done so entirely at the owner s own risk and the organisers, promoters or land owners will not be responsible for any loss or damage howsoever caused. 12. Camera s - Please note that any camera carried in competing vehicles MUST be mechanically & securely mounted internally and in a position unlikely to injure any occupants in the event of a mishap. For the avoidance of any doubt suction or magnetically mounted cameras are NOT allowed without a suitable secondary restraint. How to find KENDREW BARRACKS - DO NOT USE A POSTCODE or SAT NAV!!!! If possible please try and approach Kendrew Barracks from the A1. There are large signs saying Kendrew Barracks. Once off the A1 follow the map below using the B668 and then Thistleton Lane. DO NOT go to the Camp Main Gate. PLEASE SHOW COURTESY AND CONSIDERATION IN YOUR DRIVING WHEN IN THE VICINITY OF KENDREW BARRACKS. LOW SPEED AND NOISE AT ALL TIMES. Wind, Rain and even Sun. Please dress accordingly. Animals will NOT be allowed on the venue. Race Procedures Race Procedure Simple, the highest speed at the end of the mile after 5 runs wins. Who will you race against? Your first 5 runs following your Convoy / Sighting Run and One Untimed Practice Run will count towards the competition, thereafter any runs will be for fun only. After completing your 5 runs DO NOT queue again until authorised to do so. Note - HELMETS & SEATBELTS MUST BE WORN, ARMS & LEGS MUST BE COVERED ON THE COURSE Signing On / Scrutineering - All drivers must have attended Scrutineering, Signed On and attended the Safety Briefing. All competing vehicles must be checked for condition, tyres, loose objects etc. NB It remains the driver s responsibility to ensure that the car and any safety equipment are suitable for their intended purpose at all times throughout the event. Paddock Area - 5mph at all times within the paddock area. If you have to refuel then please do so safely. Assembly Area - 5mph at all times within the assembly area. As mentioned earlier you should arrive in this area "Ready to Race" i.e. helmet, belts on, no loose objects in car etc. Either with your chosen opponent or on your own. Marshals will check the drivers wristbands and arrange the cars in pairs ready for them to proceed to the staging area. Staging Area - Please move into the Staging area as and when directed by the marshal. Note - NO TYRE WARMING, SPINNING WHEELS etc until you start to actually race. The Race Start procedures will be explained at the Safety Briefing. Race Finish - As you approach the one mile finish you will see the chequer boards, these tell the driver exactly where the finish is. Once the finish line is passed you should get off the gas and start to brake, do not continue accelerating and try to brake smoothly. Stay in your lane until you reach the end of the runway and then turn onto the perimeter road on the right. If applicable the car in the left hand lane should stay in lane and wait, following the car from the right hand lane onto the Return Road. There is a small amount of run off and a grassed area at the end of the runway in the event of failure to stop. Return to Paddock BE AWARE there will be 2 way traffic and spectators on this route. Strictly 30mph until event signage instructs you to a lower limit. There will be marshals controlling this route so please obey their instructions as speeding or unauthorised driving in the reverse direction on the return route may result in exclusion from the event and the venue. Results At the midpoint along the Return Route you will be able to stop and collect your Run Speed Ticket. Results will also be displayed on the Thunder Road Leaderboard in the VXR Awning. PRE EVENT VEHICLE CHECKLIST Always remember Motor Sport Can Be Dangerous It makes sense to minimise the risk When you participate in this event you will be required to sign an indemnity form upon which you make the declaration that the vehicle you are using is fit for its purpose. We will be scrutineering vehicles and we reserve the right to deny track access to any vehicle we consider to be a risk to the occupants or other track users. We suggest that you carry out these few simple checks to make your day safer and ultimately more enjoyable. Sort any problems found. Exhaust All cars must have a road legal silencing system. Is yours? The noise limit is 105dba at 0.5 metres from each exhaust. For the good of future events and motorsport in general the organisers reserve the right to exclude any vehicle they consider to be antisocially noisy. Brakes Check fluid levels. Check for excessive pedal travel and investigate cause if found. Check thickness of linings. Will they last the day? If they require renewal it is best to do this well in advance and ensure pads are bedded in prior to taking to the event. Wheels & Tyres Remove wheel trims if fitted. Check pressures, condition and suitability. Check wheel nuts are tightened. Seats and Seat Belts Check condition and that the mountings are secure. Suspension and Steering Check suspension for condition and operation. Play in joints, linkages, bushes etc. Investigate any noises or play in wheel bearings. Engine Bay Check Engine Oil and Coolant Fluid levels (DO NOT OVERFILL) Check condition of hoses and any pipe work. Check for and correct fluid leakages. Electrics Check battery is securely mounted and an insulating material covers terminals. Check wiring for condition and potential chafing, short circuits etc. Fuel Check for and rectify any leaks. Check Filler cap for security and seal. DO NOT overfill the tank (This is a particular problem with Kit Cars). DO NOT under fill the tank (running out of fuel on circuit will stop that session for everyone). Bodywork Remove all loose or non-permanently secured objects from the vehicle Must be in a sound condition with no sharp edges or dangerous protrusions, either internally or externally. Security Devices, Door Locks, Immobilisers etc Ensure these are set to allow unimpeded access to the vehicle whilst in the assembly area or on course. Safety The carrying of an adequately secured, readily accessible and fully charged AFFF type Fire Extinguisher of a minimum 1.75 litres is recommended. Attire, All limbs must be covered whilst on track. The wearing of flame retardant materials is recommended.

PERSONAL CHECKLIST Photo ID For security purposes. Carry some form of Photo ID at all times and be prepared to show this if requested. DVLA Drivers Licence Bring it with you, we need to see it. MOT Certificate if applicable Helmets Must be fit for purpose and in good sound condition. BIG CHIN Motocross Helmets are not suitable. Helmets are available for hire @ 15 cash on the day (subject to availability). Loose Objects Ensure ALL loose items are removed from the car interior & boot. Wheel trims removed. Animals - Animals will NOT be allowed on the venue.
