Y-9 Y-9 Operation Check (Traveling Device) Y-9 Operation Check (Traveling Device) 1. Exhaust brake [NOTICE] Jack up the crane and make sure the crane is set up horizontally and all tires are off the ground. Check with 4WD-high drive mode. Check whether the exhaust brake is operating or not from the engine noise and from the movement of the air cylinder for the exhaust brake. 1. Turn on the exhaust brake switch, and keep the engine idling. (The pilot lamp remains lit.) 2. Check the exhaust brake operation with the following procedure. 2. Automatic transmission (1 km/h = 0.6214 mph) [NOTICE] Numbers indicate speedometer readings. (units: km/h) ( ) Indicates lock up ON and OFF values. * Indicates downshift points when the accelerator position is 90% or above. (Uphill condition) (These do not need to be checked.) ( ) Indicates the lock up OFF point when the accelerator position is 90% or above. (Uphill condition) (These do not need to be checked.) Make sure that the transmission shifts according to the map as below. Seq. 1 2 Operation Release the accelerator pedal. With the shift lever in the N position, turn the exhaust switch ON. (The pilot lamp illumines.) Move the shift lever from the N position to the D position. Increase the engine speed to 1080 min -1 or higher. Exhaust brake OFF (Not activated) ON (Activated) 3 Depress the accelerator pedal. OFF 4 Release the accelerator pedal. ON 5 Use the service brake to reduce the engine speed to 1000 min -1 or OFF lower. 6 Release the service brake pedal. Increase the engine speed to 1080 ON min -1 or higher. 7 Return the engine speed to idling, and move the shift lever to N position. OFF 3 WY05-5260E
Y-9 Y-9 Operation Check (Traveling Device) 3. Rear steering lock 3.1 Operation check A Turn the rear steering lock switch to "Release". (The indicator turns on.) Release The indicator is on. The indicator is off. Lock IWY05-0141E15 Check that the indicator is on. Switch to 4-wheel, crab, or rear steering. 2-wheel 4-wheel Crab Rear Switch to 4-wheel, crab, or rear steering. 2-wheel steering indicator remains on and the 4-wheel, crab, or rear steering indicator flashes. IWY05-0141E16 Check that the indicator is on. (4-wheel, crab, or rear steering) With the steering release switch pressed, slowly turn the steering wheel left and right. Release IW05-0141E17 Check that the indicators are ON. Turn the steering wheel and check the steering. After checking that the indicator turns off and on, turn the steering wheel to a position where the indicator is on. Turn the rear steering lock switch to "Lock". If the pin does not engage, adjust the position of the detector cam so that the detector switch activates when the pin can be inserted. 2-wheel 4-wheel Crab Rear Check that the indicators are OFF. IWY05-0141E16 4-wheel, crab or rear steering indicator flashes. Switch to 2-wheel steering, and check that 2-wheel steering indicator turns on and the 4-wheel, crab, or rear steering indicator turns off. 4 WY05-5260E
Y-9 Y-9 Operation Check (Traveling Device) 3.2 Operation check B 1. With the lock pin engaged, upshift to 2nd gear. Check that the lock pin does not disengage even when the rear steering lock switch is turned to "Release". 2. Upshift to 3rd gear. Check the same details as in step 1. 3. Downshift to 1st gear. Turn the rear steering lock switch to "Release". Check that the lock pin disengages (indicator turns on). 4. Overshift prevention (1 km/h = 0.6214 mph) [NOTICE] Jack up the vehicle and shift to 4WD High position. Perform the operations below and check the shift position with the combination meter. 1. Move the shift lever to D and increase speed to 44 km/h or more. Check that transmission shifts to 3rd gear (display: D). 2. Gradually reduce speed. Keep a speed of 42 km/h. Move the shift lever to 2. Check that transmission does not downshift (display: D). 3. Gradually reduce speed. Check that transmission downshifts to 2nd gear when the speed is 39 km/h (display: 2). 4. With the lock pin disengaged, check that the vehicle does not upshift to 2nd gear. 3.3 Operation check C With the lock pin disengaged, check that the lock pin lamp flashes when the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9.3 mph) or higher. 4. Keep a speed of 24 km/h. Move the shift lever to 1. Check that transmission does not downshift (display: 2). 5. Gradually decrease speed. Check that transmission downshifts to 1st gear at 21 km/h (display: 1). Meter speed Combination meter display 1. 44 km/h D 2. 42 km/h D 3. 39 km/h 2 4. 24 km/h 2 5. 21 km/h 1 5 WY05-5260E
Y-9 Y-9 Operation Check (Traveling Device) 5. Warning [NOTICE] For the location of the buzzer, refer to "Z-10 Electric Parts Location Diagram (Upper), 1. Inside cab". Item Total air low pressure and parking brake applied Engine overrun Torque converter low pressure Warning buzzer Buzzer (CN815) (CN816) Sound Continuous beep (high tone) Intermittent beep (high tone) Continuous beep (high tone) Check conditions Buzzer sounds when the following conditions are met. 1. Air pressure is 540 kpa (5.5 kgf/cm 2 ) (78.3 psi) or less, when the main switch is turned ON and the parking brake is not applied. 2. Shift lever is out of N position when the parking brake is applied. It is not necessary to check because the buzzer sounds at engine speed of 3110 min -1 by the mechanism. Buzzer turns OFF at 2800 min -1. Buzzer sounds if the torque converter pressure is 0.87 MPa (8.9 kgf/cm 2 ) (126 psi) or less while the parking brake is not applied. 6 WY05-5260E
Y-9. Operation Check (Traveling Device) Y-9. 6. Suspension lock [NOTICE] Conditions Crane status : On-rubber, boom directed forward Shift lever : N position. Vehicle speed : 0 km/h Engine speed : Approximately 770 min -1 1. Keep pressing the lock switch to the lock side. 7. Speedometer (1 km/h = 0.6214 mph) When the actual traveling speed of the vehicle is V 2, the reading of the speedometer (V 1 ) shall meet the following formula: 0 V 1 -V 2 V 2 / 10 + 6 Ex. Case of a vehicle of [45 km/h < Vmax 55 km/h] When the reading of the speedometer (V 1 ) is 40 km/h, the tester speed (V 2 ) shall be as follows: 30.91 km/h V 2 40 km/h 2. Check that the indicator begins to flash after 1 second. 3. Check that the indicator stops flashing and remains lit 8 seconds after it starts flashing. Then release the switch. 4. Stop the engine. Check that the suspension lock cylinders are fully retracted (4 points). 5. Restart the engine. (At this time, check that the indicator is on.) 6. Keep pressing the suspension lock switch to the release side. 7. Check that the indicator begins to flash after 1 second. 8. Check that the indicator stops flashing and goes out 2 seconds after it starts flashing. Then release the switch. 9. Stop the engine. Check that the suspension lock cylinders are full extended (4 points). 345-804-54000 2 7 WY05-5260E
