Settima screw a. Medium: HL oil conforming to DIN 51524 Parts 2 and 3 Special media such as: HFA min 5% oil HFB min 40% oil HFC max. 35-55% water HFDR high-viscosity lubricants SKYDROL, MIL-H may also be used after consultation with the manufacturer. In all cases, only media with a minimum lubricating effect with no solid particles should be used. Viscosities for the standard version with 68 cst. maximum starting viscosity : 2000 cst. minimum viscosity : 4 cst. Higher viscosities are also possible for the special versions S1 to S4. These different versions generally refer to the noise characteristics of the. In addition to the viscosity however, this also depends on the cavitation characteristics, the proportion of air in the oil, the pressure and the revolutions. More accurate information requires exact knowledge of the proportion of air and the cavitation occurring, or corresponding trials. Rough guideline values are as follows : S1 100-200 cst. (operating viscosity) S2 250-500 cst. (operating viscosity) S3 500-800 cst. (operating viscosity) S4 over 800 cst. (operating viscosity) b. Temperatures for NBR-seals: maximum operating temperature : 70 C minimum operating temperature : 5 C c. Inlet pressure: Inlet pressure : 0.7-3 bar (absolute) Inlet pressure (short term) : 0.6 bar (absolute) van Dinther Antriebstechnik GmbH Tel No.: +49 (0) 234-68738 0 page: 1
Settima screw d. Filtration/contamination Oil purity : Class 10 to NAS 1638 Higher contamination classes possible after consultation e. Seal materials The standard pump is fitted with NBR seals. VITON, TEFLON and EPDM seals are also available on request and at a surcharge. f. Pump drive: Free of axial and radial forces on the drive shaft. An elastic coupling is used and the pump is connected rigidly to the drive. The coupling must not be installed by hammering or with the use of force! Attachment flange to DIN / ISO 3019 Part 2 AC version for direct installation on electric motor These types are designed for direct installation onto IEC - DIN norm motors. The code number gives the shaft diameter of the motor and thus the installation geometry of the pump. In some AC versions, the spindles are mounted to move axially in the housing, in order to compensate for axial play. For installation, the pump should be placed on the vertical shaft of the motor without the use of force. Ensure that the feather key of the motor does not project too far out of the groove, and is properly seated. Install motor and pump with mounting grease. Check the perpendicularity between motor flange and wave and also the concentricity between wave and the motor centering at the motor. The max. Difference have to be 0,05 mm. Utilise motors with the degree of protection IP 65. Guarantee will be only warranted for motors with the conditions named above. After the mounting of the screws check the clearance of the motor pump group through the rotating of the ventilator at the motor. Problemes can exist because of the tolerances between the waves. The motor only have to be started, when the mounted motor pump group let itself rotate free. van Dinther Antriebstechnik GmbH Tel No.: +49 (0) 234-68738 0 page: 2
Settima screw g. Installation position The pump can be installed in any position. Care must however be taken to ensure that the pump can vent itself completely on initial commissioning. h. Pump drive in operation The drive must only be started or stopped when the pump is not under pressure. The permissible revolutions and pressures should be taken from the pump catalogue. i. Pipe connections Suction and pressure lines must be laid voltage-free! Either BSP parallel threaded connections or flange bore templates in accordance with SAE 3000 psi series. The connection sizes should be taken from our catalogues. The pressure connection of the pump is designated by the word out. The suction housing of the SMT version may be turned round by the customer. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, are supplied without an opposing flange. j. Rotation direction / revolutions The direction of rotation of the pump can be seen on the right of the drive shaft or on the right of the fan wheel of the standard electric motor. The pump is marked with an arrow indicating the direction of rotation next to the pressure flange. Left-rotating and reserve are only available on request! The permissible revolutions should be taken from the pump catalogue. The revolutions given in the catalogue represent the maximum values for operation with hydraulic oil. Other limits apply for high-viscosity fluids, depending on the cavitation characteristics. k. Commissioning / initial commissioning Ensure that all the above points are observed. Commissioning should only be carried out if the whole system and the associated machinery or equipment conform to all applicable guidelines and regulations of the EC and the relevant country! 1. Check the free movement and correct direction of rotation of the electric motor. (the electric motor must be able to be turned by the fan wheel with the pump installed) 2. Ensure that there is sufficient oil in the tank during commissioning! 3. Fill the pump with oil. 4. The pump should never be started during commissioning against pressure from non-return valves, pressurised seat valves, DBV-valves or the like! Commissioning must be carried out without pressure in the system. All pressurised valves should be installed as far away from the pump as possible. (loosen the pressure connection, start the electric motor for brief periods) van Dinther Antriebstechnik GmbH Tel No.: +49 (0) 234-68738 0 page: 3
Settima screw 5. Start the drive repeatedly for short periods, until the pump starts to supply oil. 6. Before the pump is put under full load, the whole system must be completely vented. Under permanent operating conditions, no more noise caused by air should be heard. 7. Keep a check on the oil temperature, and do not allow the pump to spray for too long via the DBV-valve! Note that the RF versions are fitted with a DBV-valve with a fixed setting that is not visible from outside. Continuous operation via this DBV-valve will cause the pump to overheat. 8. Take care throughout the whole commissioning process that the pump does not run dry. 9. During repairs or initial commissioning of a hydraulic system, the whole system is often heavily contaminated with dirt. The system should therefore be operated for as long as possible without pressure in the system, and the filter checked and replaced if necessary after approx. 100 operating hours. Special attention should be paid to the purity of the oil and system components when replacing. Work on hydraulic systems should only be carried out by experienced and suitably qualified technicians. l. Maintenance Settima screw do not require any special maintenance during operation. Special attention should be paid however to the purity of the oil and the observation of Points A to D of these instructions. Only static stressed housing seals are available. m. Operation Settima screw are supply with a positive constant geometric displacement volume. The supply volume is proportional to the revolutions and depends on the operating pressure. The user cannot change or adjust these physical characteristics. Correct operation therefore depends on the observation of the technical conditions given above. If these cannot be maintained, the manufacturer must be consulted. n. PRV (pressure relief valve) The are equipped in the RF + RP version with PRV valves: RF1 ~ 5 bar non-adjustable internal RF2 ~ 10 bar non-adjustable internal RF3 ~ 15 bar non-adjustable internal RP ~ 5-25 bar adjustable externally All PRVs function internally and are only intended for emergency situations. Continuous operation via an internal PRV will lead to the pump overheating. van Dinther Antriebstechnik GmbH Tel No.: +49 (0) 234-68738 0 page: 4
