Dear Forest River - Glaval Bus Customer: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River Office of Corporate Compliance has decided certain 2008 through 2016 model year Apollo, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Sport, Titan, Titan II and Titan II Low Floor buses fail to comply with the identification requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) number 217, Bus emergency exits and window retention and release. What is the defect? The Emergency Exit Windows manufactured by Hehr do not meet the exit identification requirements of FMVSS 217. The affixed label is more than 16cm away from the release mechanism. Additional labels must be placed closer to the release mechanism in order to comply with the standard. Evaluation of the risk to the vehicle related to the recall. The label currently in place contains operating instructions for the release mechanism and placed on the window in plain view. Therefore the safety risk is minimal due to its current visibility position in the lower center-point of the window. How to confirm if your vehicle is subject to the recall: The vehicle dealers/owners will be instructed to place the labeling on the window per the provided instruction contained within this notification. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL Forest River Glaval, will provide the free service kit from Hehr Window, which will include two (2) window labels to place onto the window(s) as instructed above. What is the Forest River Customer Service Phone Number? (574) 343-5184 Forest River - Glaval is notifying dealerships of the recall. Please have the recall remedied at any Glaval dealership or service center. Your cost for the remedy is completely covered by Forest River and you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number. What should you do? Please call your dealer without delay and request a service appointment. Forest River wants you to have this safety recall completed on your Glaval Bus. The owner is responsible for making arraignments to have the work completed. Please mention you have been notified by Forest River - Glaval of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. Please note: Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days. How long will the remedy process take? The estimated time of repair is.08 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your unit for a period of time in order to fit into their normal service schedule. Please maintain contact with your dealer if you desire on the status of repairs. What if you have previously paid for repairs to your vehicle for this specific condition? If you have previously paid for a repair that addresses the issue described in this letter, you still need to have this recall performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were used. Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for service completed directly involved and described in this letter. The retail consumer shall not be charged any amount of monies for repair/remedy to their 2008 through 2016 model year Apollo, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Sport, Titan, Titan II and Titan II Low Floor buses that are covered under this Recall. If your dealership has already preformed the remedy to 2008 through 2016 model year Apollo, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Sport, Titan, Titan II and Titan II Low Floor buses your dealership is entitled to the reimbursement as stated above; if the remedy had been performed on an out of warranty 2008 through 2016 model year Apollo, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Sport, Titan, Titan II and Titan II Low Floor buses in which the VIN number falls under as stated in the opening paragraph where no warranty claim has/had been filed against the VIN number and the consumer paid for the remedy personally. Federal regulation requires that any lessor receiving this Recall must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.
