R I M 1 0 RIM10 series rotor insertion flowmeters Versatile enough for almost any challenge Spirax Sarco s RIM10 rotor insertion flowmeters combine the volumetric, mass and energy flow monitoring of gases, liquids and steam into one device. The RIM10 is hot tap compatible making it versatile for installation into virtually any application; ultimately it avoids the expense and unnecessary disruption to critical processes often associated with installation of flowmetering equipment. The sensor is easy to install and maintain in pipelines ranging from 75 mm to 2000 mm (3" to 80") under full flow conditions without process shutdown. The RIM10 is especially economical for large pipe diameters of 300 mm (8") and upwards, where inline installation costs may be prohibitive. Even when the RIM10 has been selected for use in smaller pipeline sizes, the low maintenance liability makes the total cost of ownership attractive. Turndown of 25:1, plus outstanding linearity at low flowrates is achieved through the six field-installable rotor assemblies constructed of high grade stainless steel with different turbine pitches. The benefit of this technology is the accuracy you get, even in the more difficult applications, delivering reliable performance with high pressure flows and high process temperatures up to 400 C (750 F). The RIM10 multi-variable electronics also incorporate an RTD to provide a compensated mass flowrate of liquid, gas and steam, so any fluctuations in pressure can be taken into account to consistently provide error-free flowmetering.

spiraxsarco.com Introducing the RIM10 range As well as being able to set the velocity range by choosing from six rotor pitches, you can choose from three RIM10 types to ensure that you select the correct flowmeter to best suit your application. The key differentiators are highlighted adjacently. spiraxsarco.com A single device that measures all process variables to provide outstanding accuracy Key features of the RIM10 rotor insertion flowmeter: Key benefits Rugged insertion-style mounting in pipeline sizes of 75 mm to 2000 mm (3" to 80") Typical savings compared to full-bore flowmeters: - 80% for the 600 mm (24") pipelines and - 50% for 250 mm (10") pipelines. Fixed mount or hot-tappable configurations (including outdoors) Suitable for installation and servicing under full flow conditions. Unique, low-mass rotor machined from a solid block of stainless steel No welds for maximum service life and flow sensitivity. The positioning of the sensor head within the pipeline s flow profile, plus six field-installable rotor assemblies each comprising a calibrated cartridge Highly accurate. Fits where other technologies cannot perform Outstanding for low-flowrate (Re > 5,000) and wide-turndown applications. Minimal flow obstruction Negligible pressure drop and energy loss. Excellent pressure / temperature limitations Process pressure up to 137.8 bar g (2 000 psi g) and Process temperatures up to 400 C (750 F). Bidirectional rate / total (optional), with the rotor calibrated Forward and reverse flow. Advanced algorithms developed from independent research and flow standards Delivering accurate measurements for excellent energy management. Set-up and running quickly with simplified commissioning Through an easy to use local display or remote configuration and monitoring via Ethernet / HTTP web interface. Simultaneous measurement signals by Ethernet, Modbus RTU via RS485 serial, Modbus TCP / IP Suitable for many applications. FM, ATEX and CE approval pending Fit for purpose at the standard required for your business.

R I M 1 0 Whether for indoor or outdoor use, in fixed mount or hot tap installation, there is a RIM10 configuration for your application, with a range of three options: RIM10-600, RIM10-700 and RIM10-900 Spirax Sarco's RIM10 rotor insertion flowmeters provide you with the management information you need to operate your plant at peak efficiency by helping you pinpoint where the biggest consumers of energy are located so you can monitor the associated costs and make adjustments across the plant to save energy. Since the RIM10 is also easy to install under full flow conditions and without process shutdown, a limited numbers of flowmeters could cycle through many locations for extra cost efficiency. How the RIM10 works Installation The RIM10 s stainless steel rotor is accurately positioned and the kinetic energy in the fluid stream causes it to spin in direct proportion to flow. As each turbine blade rotates past the magnetic pickup coils, the magnetic field is broken which generates a small voltage pulse that can be translated into flowrate data. The integral RTD provides real-time temperature monitoring for sensor calibration and accurate flowrate monitoring, as well as for the flow computer to output a true density-compensated mass flow signal accurate to ±1.5% of rate with liquids and ±2.0% of rate with gas and steam. The installation location should be selected to minimize turbulence and swirl. The extent of these flow disturbances depends upon the piping configuration. Valves, elbows, pumps and other piping components may add disturbances to the flow. The rotor insertion flowmeter may be installed in vertical, horizontal, or angled pipe sections, but not mounted upside-down. The tap size is 48 mm (1 ") minimum diameter. For liquid service, the fluid must completely fill the pipe. For more details of how the RIM10 rotor insertion flowmeter can help you take control of your energy environment, contact your Spirax Sarco Sales Engineer today. Alternatively visit our website at www.spiraxsarco.com

spiraxsarco.com Hot tapping Accessories The RIM10 can be installed quickly and easily under full flow conditions without process shutdown. First, a sock-o-let is welded to the line, then a flange to the sock-o-let. A gate valve is mounted to the flange and a hot tap enters the pipeline. The flowmeter is then installed on the valve and the measuring element extended into the pipeline with the aid of a reference scale. The RIM10 requires only 10 pipe diameters of straight length after a single bend in the pipeline. For a detailed layout of the pipeline requirements based on pipeline configurations, see the Installation and Maintenance Instructions (IM-P198-02) supplied with the product; alternatively search our website to download or view at your convenience: www.spiraxsarco.com. Typical pipeline requirements for the different technologies are shown below. Comparison of pipe requirements for different flow technologies on saturated steam Orifice plate Vortex RIM10 TVA Flow Flow Flow Flow 10D 6D 15D 3D 20D The RIM10 requires only ten pipe diameters of straight pipe upstream and five downstream, making it a compact ideal choice for any application and saves time and money 5D on installation costs and downtime. 5D 7D D = Pipe diameter The RIM10 is a trusted, field proven member of the well established and comprehensive family of Spirax Sarco flowmeters that has been used in industrial flowmetering applications for more than 30 years. As it may be specified with several accessories to accommodate different applications, the RIM10 is one of the most adaptable flowmeters available. Gate valve for the RIM10-900 This DN50 (2") double-flanged, raised-face, full-port gate valve enables the flow sensor to be inserted and removed from the pipe under full-flow conditions. Isolation valve for the RIM10-600 (included) A DN50 (2") full-port bronze gate valve makes this model fully installable and maintainable under full-flow conditions. Pressure tap and bleed valve Standard ¼" NPT pipe nipple with ¼" stainless steel bleed valve provides connections for mounting an optional pressure transmitter. Model PT pressure transmitter (optional) This instrument can be mounted to the ¼" NPT bleed valve connection, eliminating the need for a separate pressure tap. A 4-20 ma output, scaled to the desired pressure range, is provided. All pressure transmitters include a siphon tube, bleed valve, plug, nipple, and tee. Remote mount electronics The RMT option includes 30 m (100 ft) of signal cable and U-bolts. A ¾" NPT conduit connection is provided. FM approval Pending: FM Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D; Classes II, III, Division 2, Groups F and G NEMA 4 x locations; ATEX and CE.
