Load Specification Resilmount A237R Clips are designed to carry furring channel with one or more layers of gypsum wallboard attached. The load capacity of the clips depends on the gauge of the hat channel used. 25 Gauge channel is most commonly used and performs better acoustically than a heavier gauge channel.the maximum design load capacity for the Resilmount Clips in shear (Wall Application) or in tension (Ceiling Applications) as follows. Design load calculations are based on testing loading to failure where the furring channel deforms. Align furring channel with Resilmount Clips Maximum Load Wall & Ceiling Resilmount Clips w/ 25 gauge hat channel Resilmount Clips w/ 22 gauge hat channel 2:1 Safety factor 45 Lbs. 60 Lbs. 2.5:1 Safety factor 36 Lbs. 48 Lbs. Suggested safety factor of 2.5:1 for more critical life safety applications. Note: 5/8 thick gypsum drywall weighs 2.3 Lbs. / sq.ft. 1/2 thick gypsum drywall weighs 1.85 Lbs. / sq.ft. Fire Rated Applications Insert bottom hemmed edge into Clip Read Resilmount Installation instructions carefully before installing the clips. Resilmount A237R clips are supplied with a 1/4 x 1 steel washer. VERY IMPORTANT: On Fire Rated Applications the Resilmount washer must be used as shown. If this washer is not installed the clip has NO Fire Rating. Squeeze track and insert top edge Use approved fasteners for wood, steel and concrete. Do not fasten Resilmount clips with nails. On steel truss and C-stud applications, the screws are replaced with a 1/4 x 1-1/2 bolt with nylox nut. 2

Wall Installation Guide INSTALLATION NOTES Resilmount A237R shall not exceed 48" on center. Spacing between hat channels shall not exceed 24". Fasten the Resilmount A237R to the substrate with a fastener approved for a minimum pull-out and shear of 120 Lbs. Hat Channels are installed perpendicular to the studs. Locate the bottom row of Resilmount clips within 4" of the floor and the top row within 4 of the ceiling. Use sample calc. formula on Pg. 5 to determine the on center spacing between all of the tracks. A laser pointer or snap chalk line can be used to ensure that the Resilmount Clips and furring channels are installed horizontal and level. Install the drywall vertically from the bottom up leaving a 1/8" to 1/4 thick gap around perimeter of wall to be filled with acoustical caulk. Caulk around the entire perimeter of the gypsum board. Step 1 Review layout guidelines and check measurements before starting the installation. It is recommended that the ceiling is installed after the walls are in place. Step 2 Space Resilmount A237R so not to exceed 48" O.C. along line of furring channel. Secure clips with a single fastner through the washer and the middle screw hole in the clip. Step 3 Snap hat channels onto the Resilmount clips. Step 4 Place 1/4 shims on the floor in front of the sole plate. The shims are crititcal to ensure that the drywall does not touch the floor once attached to the tracks on the Resilmount clips. Use approved screws to attach the drywall to the channels following local building codes. Note: Only remove the shims after all the gypsum board is completely installed. Step 5 Use acoustical caulk around the entire perimeter of each wall. 3

Ceiling Installation Guide INSTALLATION NOTES Resilmount A237R shall not exceed 48" on center. Spacing between hat channels shall not exceed 16. Fasten the Resilmount A237R to the substrate with a fastener approved for a minimum pull-out and shear of 120 Lbs. Hat Channels are installed perpendicular to the joists. Locate the first row of Resilmount clips within 4 inches a wall and within 4 inches of the opposite wall use sample calc. formular on Pg. 5 to determine the on center spacing between all of the tracks. Use a laser pointer or snap chalk line to ensure the channels are accurately spaced. Install the gypsum board leaving 1/8 to 1/4" wide gap around perimeter to be filled with acoustical caulk. Caulk around the entire perimeter of the gypsum board. Step 1 Review layout guidelines and check measurements before starting the installation of walls or ceilings. It is recommended that the walls are in place before the ceiling is installed. Step 2 Space Resilmount A237R so not to exceed 48" OC. along the line of the furring channel. Secure clips with a single fastener through the washer and middle screw hole in the clip. Step 3 Snap hat channel onto the Resilmount clips. Step 4 Use approved screws to attach the drywall to the channels following local building codes. Step 5 Use acoustical caulk around the entire perimeter of each wall. 4
