SPECIAL NOTE: After Auer Automotive Safety mandated preparatory steps have been taken, the installation sequence is the suggested method for completing the accessory installation. In some instances the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality. Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure quality installation. Preparation Remove negative battery cable Picture 2 Installation 1. From front of vehicle, run the DRL s wire harness on the driver side from the battery towards the firewall of the car. Use wire ties as needed (see picture 2) 2. Locate the large vehicle harness grommet on the left side. If accessible, cut the auxiliary wiring access nipple off the grommet or cut ¼ slit in grommet and push the red, black, black-white and red-white wires through firewall. Note: Extra caution should be taken not to damage the connector s pin. Seal with 3M Silicone sealant (picture 2) Vehicle Disassembly 3. Remove air conditioning panel with nylon removal tool and unplug connectors behind it (picture 3) Picture 3 4. Remove the 10 mm bolts (4) as shown in picture 4 Auer Automotive Inc 2
7. Remove driver side door scuff plate. Disengage with panel tool and remove (picture 7 and 8) Picture 4 5. Remove the head radio unit and unplug connectors (picture 5) Picture 7 Picture 5 6. Remove lower panel to the right of the steering column (pictures 6) Picture 8 8. Remove the foot rest on the driver side (picture 9) Picture 6 Picture 9 9. Remove the lower finish panel by removing two 10 mm bolts (picture 12 and 13) Picture 14 12. 13. From inside the cabin, locate the wires that were pushed through in step 2. It will be the grommet left to the emergency brake (picture 16) 17. Using a 14 wire tie, secure the driver box next to the steering wheel column on metal dash bracket (picture 18) Picture 18 Picture 16 14. Route the wire harness to reach the left area of the steering wheel 15. Push the pins into the connector supplied in kit. Make sure that the wire colors of the connectors are aligned with the wire colors of the driver box: black with black and red with red, etc (picture 17) 18. Route the wires towards the center panel. Use wire ties as needed 19. T-tap the red wire from DRL harness to connector A33 pin 14, pink wire. A33 is located on the back of the air conditioning control switch. The connector is black in color (pictures 19 and 20) Picture 17 Picture 19: Connector A33 16. Connect the driver box to the wires pushed into the connectors on step 15 (make sure wire colors are aligned). Auer Automotive Inc 5
22. Secure relay and any excess wire from t- taps to factory wire harness (picture 22) Picture 20 20. T-tap the blue wire from DRL harness to connector A33 pin 6, green wire (pictures 19 and 20) 21. Secure ground (black) wire to bolt in metal knee panel (picture 21 and 21A) Picture 22 23. Remove the switch plug above the center console. Pull the DRL wire harness. Using a wire tie secure the DRL harness to the factory harness terminal behind the plug switch plug (picture 23) Picture 21 Picture 23 Picture 21A Auer Automotive Inc 6
24. Plug in the switch (picture 24) Picture 26 Picture 24 25. Reinstall dash panels and connectors ENGINE COMPARTMENT 26. Remove the radiator cover shield (picture 25) Picture 26A 28. Remove the green pin from the factory bezel (picture 27) Picture 25 27. Using a pry tool, remove the bezel below the left head lamp area (picture 26 & 26A) Picture 27 29. Using a pry tool, remove the plastic plug from the factory bezel (picture 28) Auer Automotive Inc 7
Picture 28 30. Repeat steps 27 ~ 29 for right side bezel 31. Install the green pin and the black plastic plug (removed in steps 28 and 29) into the DRL bezels 32. Secure the DRL s wire harness next to the factory wire harness, next to the white clip on the fire-wall (picture 29) Picture 30 34. Run the wire harness to the right side on top of the radiator housing and drop right side of wire harness to reach behind head-lamp compartment area (picture 31) Picture 31 Picture 29 35. On the driver side head-lamp, locate DRL wire harness. Pull it carefully through the opening below the head lamp (picture 32) 33. Route the DRL s wire down to reach left head lamp area (picture 30) Auer Automotive Inc 8 Picture 32
36. Plug in left side DRL into harness plug 37. Install DRL bezel into place (picture 33) Picture 34B Picture 33 40. Secure excess wires with wire ties (picture 35) 38. Repeat steps 36 to 38 on right side DRL 39. Secure wire harness on top of radiator housing with wire ties (pictures 34A & 34B) Picture 35 Picture 34A 41. Reattach the radiator cover shield 42. Reinstall negative battery cable and torque to 35 in-lbs Check System for Operation 1. DRL will work at full power when ignition switch is ON. DRL will dim out to DOT specifications when lights are ON. 2. If DRL switch position is off, DRL will not work at any time Auer Automotive Inc 9
Check Accessory Functions Checks Look For: DRL function... All Panels snapped into place. Battery Terminal Loose panels and switches Re-torque battery terminals to 35 in/lbs. Vehicle Function checks Check functions all switch functions VEHICLE FUNCTION CHECK AFTER ALL PANELS, COVERS AND COMPONENTS THAT WERE REMOVED HAVE BEEN REINSTALLED, TEST THROUGHLY ALL MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS DISCONNECTED AND/OR REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THIS ACCESSORY Auer Automotive Inc 10
