Tools You Will Need: 1. Power driver with a Phillips bit, special bit, and 7/16 socket 2. Flat head screwdriver 3. Wire cutters 4. 1/8 zip ties The image below shows the Belted, Carousel Check Out Stand. This instruction will demonstrate how to remove and replace the motor and capacitor. A new capacitor will be included with the new motor; thus, it will be necessary to replace the capacitor simultaneously with the motor. 3
Turn Off Power to the Unit: 1. Remove two screws holding the access panel on the customer s side of the Belted Lead-In. 2. Remove the access panel, exposing the Main Power Cord. Unplug the cord from the Power Pole. NOTE: Retain all hardware for later re-installation. 4
Remove Power Switch 1. Remove two screws holding the Power Switch on the clerk s side of the Belted Lead-In. Gently pry up and pull out the switch. 2. Use the blade of a flat head screwdriver to carefully separate the Belt Switch Plate from the wires. 3. Use caution to avoid damaging the wires. 5
Remove Electric Eyes: 1. Both the Sender and Receiver Eyes may be removed using the same steps, which follow. Remove two screws and pull out the Electric Eye casing (receiver shown). 2. Push the cable from underneath the unit rather than pulling on the wires, which could damage the Molex connector. 6 02/01/2017 Rev-
Remove POS (Point-Of-Sale) Assembly: 1. Inside the hardware package provided is a special bit required to remove the POS Assembly. 2. Using a power driver with the special bit, remove four bolts holding the POS Assembly to the rail (two on the front and two on the back). Lift and remove the POS Assembly. Set aside. 7
3. Unscrew and remove the stainless-steel trim rails from both the customer s and cashier s sides of the unit. 8
Remove & Replace Motor: 1. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the nose cover. 2. Pull up on the nose cover. There may be a tight fit; if so, lift up, pull back and lift up again. 9
3. The edges of the nose cover are slotted to connect to screws on the inside of each rail. 4. Using a power driver with a Phillips bit, remove the two screws holding the Dead plate. Remove the Dead plate. 10
5. Using a power driver with a Phillips bit, remove the four screws holding the Dead Plate Support, indicated by the red arrows below. 6. After removing the four screws, lift the Dead Plate Support out and away. 11
7. Use a power driver with a 7/16 socket to remove the two belt adjustment bolts located at the nose end of the unit. 8. Use the blade of a flat head screwdriver to lift the belt. 9. The belt plates are located underneath the belt. 12
10. There are finger slots in the corners of each belt plate. Use these to lift and remove the belt plates from the unit. 11. Note that the belt plates are held in place by the belt plate hooks. 12. Carefully lift the motor cylinder up and slide the belt away. 13
13. Replace the cylinder, being careful not to damage the Electric Eye wires. 14. Pull the belt back toward the nose of the unit and leave it folded and out of the way while performing the following steps. 14
15. Trace the motor cable to the capacitor. Reach underneath the Capacitor Housing and disconnect the cable. The four-pronged connector has a hook that must be pressed before it can be removed. 16. Dislodge the motor cable from the cable holders and remove the motor. 15
17. Obtain a new Motor Cylinder. Feed the motor cable through the opening in the mounting slots so that the cable may be attached to the cable holders and the Controller. 16
18. Slide the belt around the Motor Cylinder at the front end of the unit. Lay the Motor Cylinder back into its mounting slots. 19. Use caution when seating the Motor Cylinder to avoid damaging the Electric Eye cables. Ensure that the notch on the end of the Motor Cylinder is oriented on the customer s side of the unit and is facing downward. NOTCH MUST FACE DOWNWARD. 17
Remove and Replace the Capacitor: 1. Disconnect the three additional cables that are attached to the side of the Capacitor Housing. The black cable with two wires is the switch cable. The gray cables with two and four wires are both for the electric eyes. 2. Using a power driver with a Phillips bit, remove the small screw holding the Capacitor Housing to the base. Retain all hardware. 18
3. Grasp and pull the Capacitor Housing free from the base. 4. Remove the four screws from the bottom of the Capacitor Housing. Open the Housing to expose the Capacitor. Retain all hardware. CAPACITOR 19
5. Using wire cutters, sever the zip ties that hold the Capacitor in place 6. Use the blade of a flat head screwdriver to release the female quick disconnects attached to the Capacitor. 7. Obtain the new Capacitor and reconnect the wires from the previous step. Ensure that the wires are connected on opposite corners, as shown below. 20
8. Return the Capacitor to the Housing and secure in place using 1/8 zip ties. 9. Close the Housing and reinstall the four screws removed in Step 5. 10. Plug the Capacitor Housing back into the base. Replace the screw removed in Step 3. 21
11. Reconnect the electric eye and switch cables to the Capacitor Housing. The switch cable goes in the top position, followed by the 2-wire and 4-wire electric eye cables. 12. Reconnect the motor cable to the underside of the Capacitor Housing. 22
Re-assemble the Unit 1. Re-install the two belt plates onto the belt plate hooks along the sides of the unit. Straighten the belt so that it lays flat over the belt plates. 2. Re-install the Dead Plate Support and the Dead Plate in the same manner that they were removed in Steps 4 6. Be sure to replace the Dead Plate Support first. 23
3. Replace the stainless-steel trim along the unit rails. Feed the Power Switch cable through the opening in the trim and re-connect the Power Switch. 4. Attach the Power Switch to the rail using the two screws removed in Step 1 on Page 5. Before tightening, ensure the switch is oriented so that it is legible from the cashier s position. 24
5. Replace and tighten all of the remaining trim screws. 7. Re-attach the Electric Eyes to the unit using the screws retained at removal. Be careful not to strip the screws. 6. Replace the Electric Eyes by feeding the wires through the slots. Do not pull or tug on the wires, as they may become damaged. 25
8. Re-install the two belt adjustment bolts into the nose end of the unit. Use a 7/16 socket to tighten the belt. It is necessary to tighten each side just a bit at a time so that the belt is tightened evenly. 9. Re-connect the power cord to the power pole to restore power to the unit. 26
Check the Belt Alignment: 1. Turn on the belt power and check each of the corners to ensure that the belt is not touching the side rails. 2. When the automatic time-out causes the belt to stop, you can break the plane of the Electric Eyes to start the belt again. 3. To extend the running time of the belt while making adjustments, open the Lead-In s access panel and locate the Controller Assembly. 27
4. A button marked Test Run is located next to the LED light. Pressing this button will cause the belt to run for longer than two minutes. 5. If it is necessary to adjust the belt, use the adjustment bolts located at the nose end on the customer s side and cashier s side. 28
6. Use a 7/16 socket wrench to make adjustments. Adjusting the bolt left will loosen the belt tension and cause the belt to drift toward the side you are adjusting. Adjust the bolt to the right, the belt tension increases and causes the belt to drift away from the adjustment side. 7. After making an adjustment, allow belt to run at least five (5) minutes before making further adjustments so as not to overadjust the belt. 8. Re-install the nose cover and screws. Replace Lead-In access panel. 29
9. Re-install the POS onto the rail and secure using the four bolts removed in Step 2 on Page 7. Recall that these bolts will require the special bit included in the hardware package.
