FIG.A 1 Remove the seat. 2 Unplug the stock wiring harness from the ECM as shown in Figure A. 3 Remove the four nuts securing the ECM to the bracket and remove the ECM. 4 Remove the bolt that holds the seat strap to the rear fender. FIG.B unplug 5 Remove the ECM bracket from the fender. Remove one nut at a time or the bracket will fall into the tire. Reinstall the nuts to support the inner fender bracket. Due to the limited amount of room on this bike, the seat strap and ECM bracket will not be re-used. 6 Connect the PCVEX harness to the stock wiring harness and ECM as shown in Figure B. FIG.C 7 Place the black PCVEX/grey stock connector as close to the fuse box as possible as shown in Figure B. This connection will not lay flat against the frame. 8 Using the supplied velcro, secure the ECM to the rear fender. Place the ECM as far down as possible. The upper part of the ECM will just overlap the bolt hole for the seat strap. Make sure to clean both surfaces with the alcohol swab before attaching. If using the AutoTune kit, offset the ECM about one inch from center to the right side of the bike. 9 Remove the security module from the top of the battery as shown in Figure C. FIG.D security module 10 Move the security module to the right side of the bike. Use a zip tie to secure the module to the tail light connector as shown in Figure D. FIG.E 11 Using the supplied velcro, secure the PCVEX to the top of the battery as shown in Figure E. FIG.F AutoTune Kit Installation Follow these instructions when installing the AutoTune Kit (P/N AT-100B). 1 Remove the seat. 2 Attach the longer harness to the front AutoTune O2 sensor. 3 Route the harness along the frame and go around to the right hand side of the battery to the AutoTune module sensor input #1. 15-004EX www.powercommander.com 2007-2011 Harley Davidson Softail - PCV-EX - 3
FIG.G 4 Wire the harness to the module as shown in Figure G. The harness can be cut to length if desired. 5 Repeat step 2-4 for the rear cylinder using the shorter harness and connect to sensor input #2. The harness can be cut to length if desired. FIG.H diagnostic plug AutoTune module 6 Remove the rubber plug from the stock diagnostic connector. Attach the lead from the AutoTune Kit to the stock diagnostic connector as shown in Figure H. 7 Place the AutoTune module under the PCVEX harness. FIG.I 8 Attach the CAN bus cable to the AutoTune module and to the PCVEX. It does not matter what ports are used. 9 Install the CAN termination plug into the open port of the AutoTune module. 10 Secure the harness in place as shown in Figure H. FIG.J Rocker Model Instructions Use the following instructions for the Rocker models. 1 Hinge the seat up or remove completely. Remove the plastic cover over the battery area. 2 Remove the battery and the plastic tray underneath the battery. 3 Unplug the taillight wiring harness from the main harness. This connection is the large plug to the right of the battery. 4 Remove the four bolts securing the rear fender in place. Remove the rear fender. FIG.K 5 Remove the two allen head bolts securing the plastic cover in front of the rear fender as shown in Figure K. 6 Slide the cover out the right side of the bike. FIG.L unplug 7 Unplug the stock wiring harness from the ECM as shown in Figure L. FIG.M 8 Route the PCVEX harness through the hole in the battery box on the left side of the bike as shown in Figure M. FIG.N stock connector 9 Attach the grey connector from the PCVEX to the ECM. PCVEX connector 10 Route the stock connector to the backside of the ECM as shown in Figure N. FIG.P 13 Reinstall the battery tray and battery. Make sure the PCVEX harness stays underneath the stock relay assembly. 14 Secure the PCVEX to the right side of the battery as shown in Figure P. FIG.Q 15 If using the AutoTune kit, install the module as shown in Figure Q. Follow the AutoTune instructions for the standard Softail guide. AutoTune module Note: This Power Commander EX has an area of non-adjustment which is represented by the greyed out area of the grid shown in the PCV software. No changes to the stock fuel curve can be made in this area.
