FUNCTION DESCRIPTION: Muffle Temperature LCD Display Programmed Muffle Setpoint Temperature 500 C === 500 C Control Knob Lo T Current Parameter Description POWER UP: Turn on the power switch located on the back At Power-up the MiniPaz checks itself and performs an internal temperature calibration (About 60 seconds). It then goes into a Setup Routine where the user can adjust the Audio, Temperature Units and Temperature Offset. Audio: Selection of alarm frequency and intensity (20 = high frequency, 0 = Mute) Turn the Control Knob to change the value. Push Control Knob to store the new value and advance to the next setup parameter. Audio 20 >>> 20

C/ F: This parameter indicates which unit of temperature the control uses in operation. Turn the Control Knob CW or CCW to change units Push Control Knob to store the new value. C/ F <<<< C >>> Tcal @ 960 C: Temperature offset Calibration of +/- 20 C is possible Example: A value of +5 C increases the muffle temperature at 960 C by 5 C A value of -5 C decreases the muffle temperature at 960 C by 5 C Push Control Knob to store the new value Tcal @ 960 C 0 C >>> 0 The MiniPaz finished the power-up and is now ready for operation. If the knob is NOT pushed then the control continues to end the Setup routine. The display shows Done and the control proceeds to heat or cool to the Lo T and idle at this selected temperature. This is the Idle Mode when controlling at Lo T. Done 25 C >>> 500 C Test Lo T In the Idle Mode the controller will heat up the muffle and control the temperature at the preprogrammed Lo T value (500 C). A heat-up test is performed for 1 minute.

QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS: The simplest and most basic operation is the direct setting of the desired temperature. The muffle temperature can be set to any valve at any time manually by turning the Control Knob. The control will heat or cool to the new value. Heating will use the current preprogrammed Rate which has a default value of 80 C/min (144 F/minute.) 115 C >>> 500 C Lo T Turning the Control Knob will adjust the current setpoint temperature directly. The target temperature will flash and when the flashing stops the value is stored. Below 600 C the adjustment is made to the Lo T setpoint. At 601 C and above the adjustment is made to the Hi T setpoint. 500 C >>> 900 C 5:00 Run Hi T The muffle will now heat with the programmed Rate (80 C/min) to the shown Hi T. The approximate time required to reach the Hi T is shown on the lower left. 900 C === 900 C 0:58 Hold Hi T The muffle will be held at the Hi T and the Hold time will count down. At the end of the Hold time the control will beep and the go to End. Push and hold the knob to end the cycle or open the door for more than 5 seconds.

PROGRAMMING or REVIEWING PARAMETERS: In the Idle mode (Lo T) the 4 program parameters may be reviewed and changed. Parameters cannot be accessed once a program has been started. A short push on Control Knob displays the Lo T value. Turn the Control Knob to change the Lo T value. Push the Control Knob to save the new Lo T value. Lo T 500 C >>> 580 C Two short pushes on Control Knob displays the Rate value. Turn the Control Knob to change the Rate value. Push the Control Knob to save the new Rate value. Rate 80 C/min >>> 70 Three short pushes on Control Knob displays the Hi T value Turn the Control Knob to change the Hi T value Push the Control Knob to save the new Hi T value Hi T 900 C >>> 915 C Four short pushes on Control Knob displays the Hold value Turn the Control Knob to change the Hold value Push the Control Knob to Save the new Hold value Hold 1:00 >>> 1:30

STARTING and STOPPING THE PROGRAM: A Long Push (>2 seconds) on Control Knob starts the Program at any muffle temperature. The control will now heat to the preprogrammed Hi T at the programmed Rate value (see programming parameters). The approximate heating time will be displayed at the beginning of the second display line (4 minutes and 47 seconds). 580 C >>> 915 C 4:47 Run Hi T Once the muffle temperature reaches the programmed Hi T the Hold timer (1:30) starts counting down. 915 C === 915 C 1:29 Hold Hi T The control will start beeping for 10 seconds before the end of the program. At the end of the programmed Hold time (1:30) the control will start beeping continuously to indicate the program is over. The program will terminate after a total of 3 minutes at the Hi T. A short push on the knob will turn off the sound but will not end the program. 915 C === 915 C 0:09 Hold Hi T Press and hold the knob (>2 seconds) to end the program and cool to Lo T. >>> Lo T End

During the Rate or Hold turning the Control Knob will adjust the Hi T parameter; restart the heat rate and the hold time. If the operator has taken a quick look at the work and decided it is under-fired this is an easy way to continue the firing cycle with a modified Hi T. 915 C >>> 930 C 0:13 Run Hi T If the knob is not pressed the program will end when the Hold time reaches 3:00 minutes. The display shows End and the control will cool the muffle to the Lo T as if the knob had been pressed. 905 C >>> 580 C End Lo T A pressing and hold will cancel the program at any time during a Run. Pressing and holding the knob (>2 seconds) will cause the control to change between heating and cooling depending on the current muffle temperature and the programmed parameter values. OPENING DOOR DURING IDLE: 380 C **** 400 C Door Lo T W hen the control detects an open door condition the display will indicate Door. Pressing and holding the knob (>2 seconds) with the door open will prepare the unit to run a program. An alert will beep for 5 seconds if the door is not closed the control returns to Idle. If the door is closed during the 5 seconds the program starts.

OPEN DOOR DURING RATE OR HOLD: 900 C >>> 915 C 0:13 Run Hi T W hile the control heats the muffle during a program it is possible to open the muffle to check the work without canceling the program. However, the alert will sound for 5 seconds. If more time is needed to check the work, close the door after 3 or 4 beeps and open it again. After 5 seconds the program will be aborted and the muffle is turned off if the door has not been closed. Leaving the door open is another way to end or terminate a program. If the unit is in the idle mode longer than 2hrs the muffle will automatically be controlled at 200C. Opening the door or operating the encoder knob will restore the idle temperature.
