A switching-mode power supply, SMPS: An electronic power supply that incorporates a switching regulator to convert electrical power efficiently. Like other power supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a source, like mains power, to a load, such as a personal computer, while converting voltage and current characteristics. Unlike a linear power supply, the pass transistor of a switchingmode supply continually switches between low-dissipation, full-on and full-off states, and spends very little time in the high dissipation transitions, which minimizes wasted energy. Ideally, a switched-mode power supply dissipates no power. Switching regulators are used as replacements for linear regulators when higher efficiency, smaller size or lighter weight are required. Intec Power XT3 Technology Intec Power XT3 regulates the whole system under 4-stage charging platform. Uniquely formulated 2-step Constant Voltage Charging combined with Pulse Current charging restore the storage capacity through de-sulfating process. Upon completion of charging, it automatically switches to Auto Wake-up mode and maintain optimum battery condition. Desulfation Pulse Current decomposes Sulfate deposit. It also slows Sulfating process on electrode plates. In combination with higher voltage charging, it restores storage capability of battery and extend the battery life (Ref. Maintenance Mode). What is Sulfation? For lead-acid battery, during use, small sulfate crystals form, but these are normal and not harmful. During prolonged charge deprivation, however, the amorphous lead sulfate converts to a stable crystalline that deposits on the negative plates. This leads to the development of large crystals, which reduce the battery s active material that is responsible for high capacity and low resistance. Sulfation also lowers charge acceptance. Built-In Battery Tester Microprocessor diagnoses battery condition as well as charge status and automatically selects charging mode while displaying the status on the LED panel. Charge level is displayed on LED panel by 10% increment. Battery status and charging failures are referred to Error Code as below. Maintenance Mode Excessively discharged (low voltage) or highly sulfated batteries will not be recharged under regular charging parameters (condition) - Ref. Er1/Er3. Maintenance Mode, being activated manually, enforces restoration process which reverts programmed charging. This mode is backed up by Reinforced Activation Mode referred in the following page. Reinforced Activation Mode This is a supplemental function for Maintenance Mode. It is manually activated when Maintenance Mode fails to restore normal charging function. Remarks: Maximum charging time with this mode should not exceed 30- minute. Restoration is limited for those batteries: * with physically damaged electrode(s). * with exceedingly contaminated electrolyte solution. * with insufficient electrolyte solution. * left over extended time period not in use.
