DOUBLE CYLINDER DOOR LOCKS (Identified by a key lockable cylinder on both sides of the door). For all Gainsborough double cylinder door locks, we recommend: Do not lock keylock from the inside of the door when occupants are in the building. If you choose to keylock from the inside of the door when occupants are inside the building ensure that the key is readily accessible and operable by all persons who may need to exit the building. Ensure all occupants know how to operate the lock and keys to gain immediate exit.

Overview The G+ Lockset is an External Door Lockset with 3 primary modes: Deadlock mode the door is locked in both directions. Privacy mode the door is locked from the outside, but occupants are free to exit the building. Passage mode the door allows free passage from inside and outside. NOTE: All G+ Locksets have traditional key operation. The Remote Controls and the traditional mechanical keys control all modes of the Lockset. This user guide covers the set-up and operation of the Electric G+ Locksets and Battery G+ Locksets. The G+ Lockset is available in three versions: Mechanical G+ Lockset The Mechanical G+ Lockset does not require any batteries. The Mechanical G+ Lockset cannot receive commands from Remote Controls. 2 Section 1 Overview
Battery G+ Lockset The Battery G+ Lockset is powered by 4 x AAA Batteries. The Battery G+ Lockset can receive commands from G+ Keys / G+ Home Hub / G+ Home Port. The Battery G+ Lockset can be identified by the Magnet above the strike plate. Magnet Electric G+ Lockset The Electric G+ Lockset is powered by 4 x AAA (NiMH) rechargeable batteries that are recharged while the door is closed. The Electric G+ Lockset can receive commands from G+ Keys / G+ Home Hub / G+ Home Port. The Electric G+ Lockset can feed its status back to the Premium G+ Key and G+ Home Hub. The Electric G+ Lockset can be identified by the Power Transfer Unit above the Strike Plate Power Transfer Unit Section 1 Overview 3

Operation OPERATION BY A G+ KEY Premium G+ Key Basic G+ Key Deadlock Privacy Passage Deadlock Privacy Passage Shift Shift NOTE: Do not engage deadlock if anyone is inside the building. Press button 1 to engage Deadlock i.e. To lock the door from both sides. Successful operation will be confirmed by 3 short beeps from the G+ Lockset. Press button 2 to engage Privacy i.e. To lock the outside door handle but leave the inside door handle unlocked. Successful operation will be confirmed by 2 short beeps from the G+ Lockset. Press button 3 to engage Passage i.e. To unlock both the inside and outside door handles. Successful operation will be confirmed by 1 short beep from the G+ Lockset. Press the shift button first to access a second G+ Lockset, then the desired one of the first three buttons. When engaging Deadlock from Privacy, or if both Deadlock and Privacy are mechanically selected together, the lock will sound 1 short beep followed by 1 long beep to alert the user that the Lockset is locked from inside as well as the outside. 6 Section 1 Operation
Independent Operation of 2 x G+ Locksets Two G+ Locksets can be operated independently by one G+ Key. The first G+ Lockset is operated by the first 3 buttons on the G+ Key. The second G+ Lockset is operated by first pressing the Shift Button and then operating the first 3 buttons. To setup a G+ Lockset as the second Lockset, See Section 2 Layout: Shift and Revert to Privacy Switches (page 15). Revert to Previous mode if the door is not opened If the G+ Lockset is unlocked via a remote control but the door is not opened in the next 35 seconds, the G+ Lockset will revert back to its previous locked mode, (Deadlock or Privacy). This is to guard against accidental activation by a G+ Key. Revert to Previous mode does not work if the door is unlocked mechanically. Revert to Privacy In standard setting, the G+ Lockset will remain in Passage mode after the door is opened and then closed. The G+ Lockset can be set to automatically revert to the Privacy mode whenever the door is closed. This setting can be accessed by the user via a switch in the Battery Box, See Section 2 Layout: Shift and Revert to Privacy Switches (page 15). Section 1 Operation 7
Error If the G+ Lockset is unable to engage the mode requested by a remote control, it will sound an error 3 short beeps followed by 3 long beeps. Possible causes of error include: Low batteries The lever partially operated The mechanical key left in the cylinder Attempting to engage Deadlock mode or Privacy mode when: The door is open The power is off (Electric G+ Lockset only). Operating the G+ Lockset with the door open or power off The G+ Lockset will sound an error if it receives a command from the remote control to engage Deadlock or Privacy while the door is open or power is off. To engage Deadlock or Privacy via a remote control while the door is open or the power is off, the command must be sent 3 times. Feedback Electric G+ Lockset only The Electric G+ Lockset is capable of sending information about its status to suitable Remote Controls. In this manual this information is referred to as feedback. Examples of feedback include: Deadlock mode Privacy mode Passage mode Door Closed G+ Home Hub only. NOTE: The Door Closed signal will indicate door open if power is disconnected to the Electric G+ Lockset. 8 Section 1 Operation
Suitable Remote Controls include: Premium G+ Key The Electric G+ Lockset will send back a confirmation, to the Premium G+ Key, that the requested mode has been activated, or it will send back an error. Deadlock confirmation Privacy confirmation Passage confirmation Shift confirmation The Premium G+ Key will display the confirmation as a green light beside the appropriate button. The Premium G+ Key will display an error with the Electric G+ Lockset as a flashing green light beside the appropriate button. In addition to lock error, the Premium G+ Key will display an error if it does not receive feedback from the lock after approximately 35 seconds. If the Premium G+ Key displays the green light beside the shift button at the same time as another confirmation light, it indicates the feedback is from the Electric G+ Lockset operated via the shift button. G+ Home Hub The Electric G+ Lockset will send back regular feedback to the G+ Home Hub, about which mode(s) the Lockset is in and whether the door is closed and the power is on. Feedback is transmitted to the G+ Home Hub approximately once every 2 seconds. Refer to the G+ Home Hub Guide for more information on feedback. Section 1 Operation 9
Batteries Electric G+ Lockset The Electric G+ Lockset requires 4x AAA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries which are charged via a Power Transfer Unit when the door is closed. CAUTION! Electric G+ Lockset Use only AAA NiMH Batteries. Other battery types may leak or explode causing injury and damage. Batteries and Power Transfer housings may become hot to touch while charging. Battery G+ Lockset The Battery G+ Lockset requires 4x AAA Alkaline batteries. Gainsborough recommends changing the batteries at the same time as changing smoke alarm batteries. Gainsborough recommends good quality Alkaline batteries. Low Battery Warning If the batteries are low on power or need to be replaced, the Electric G+ Locksets and Battery G+ Locksets will sound a warning after the normal confirmation sounds. NOTE: While the Electric G+ Lockset is charged by mains power, the batteries can run down if the door is left open for an extended period of time. 10 Section 1 Operation

PROGRAMMING Teaching G+ Keys to a G+ Lockset There are two programming modes for the G+ Lockset: Teach Mode - All previously taught G+ Keys are replaced by G+ Keys taught during this session Delete Mode - All previously taught G+ keys are wiped from the memory. NOTE: Teaching and Deleting G+ Keys does not affect any G+ Home Hubs or G+ Home Ports in the G+ Lockset s memory. Ensure the Shift Mode selection switch is set prior to teaching any G+ Keys to ensure feedback is received by the G+ Key. If the G+ Lockset shift switch is changed after the G+ Keys have been taught: The G+ Lockset will respond to the new buttons. NOTE: Changing the shift switch after teaching may result in unexpected error signals from the Premium G+ Key. Section 2 G+ Lockset Setup 19
Teach Mode Perform the following steps to program G+ Keys to a G+ Lockset. Teach Mode activation via paper clip or similar Step 1: Place the G+ Lockset into programming mode by pressing and holding the teach button with a paper clip or similar, until the G+ Lockset emits a Teach confirmation sound (1 long; 2 short beeps), then release the teach button. This should take approximately 3 seconds. NOTE: You have 10 seconds to perform step 2 before Replace Mode times out and reverts back to the list of previously taught G+ Keys. Step 2: Press buttons 4 & 5 on the 1st G+ Key to be taught simultaneously as shown until the G+ Lockset emits a single beep. Premium G+ Key Basic G+ Key Press these buttons together Press these buttons together 20 Section 2 G+ Lockset Setup
Step 3: Repeat step 2 for each G+ Key to be taught. Each additional G+ Key must be added within 10 seconds or the G+ Lockset will time out and replace any previously taught G+ Keys with the G+ Keys taught in this session. Step 4: Once the last G+ Key has been taught, wait for the G+ Lockset to emit the Teach Session finish beeps, (1 long; 1 short; 1 long). NOTE: If no G+ Keys are taught during the teach process, the G+ Lockset will remember all of the previously taught G+ Keys. Once the first G+ Key is taught, the G+ Lockset will delete all of the previously taught G+ Keys and only remember G+ Keys taught in this session. In the case of the Electric G+ Lockset, its feedback will replace the feedback of any previously taught feedback devices assigned to buttons 1-3, or 6-8 on the G+ Key. Delete Mode Step 1: Place the G+ Lockset into Delete Mode by pressing and holding down the teach button. The G+ Lockset Teach Indicator will emit the teach confirmation beeps after approximately 2 seconds, and then start to beep again prior to 8 seconds. Step 2: Once the G+ Lockset has stopped beeping after approximately 8 seconds, the programming button can be released. All G+ Keys will have been wiped from the G+ Lockset memory.
