In addition to equipping FAB with one of the world's most modern fighters, the participation in the development of Gripen NG means a technological breakthrough for Brazilian industry. The transfer of technology programme will contribute to the development of an independent, advanced defence industrial base in Brazil.

6 ON TRACK FOR CUSTOMER DELIVERY Since the unveiling of Gripen E in May we have performed validation and verification activities such as tests in rigs and simulators and started the ground test period performing both engine tests and successful taxi testing with the first Gripen E test aircraft.

ACHIEVEMENTS GRIPEN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT NETWORK (GDDN) GDDN, Gripen Design & Development Network - a partnership between Saab and Embraer Located in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo Central hub for the Gripen technology development in Brazil More than 350 professionals from Saab s partner companies and the air force in Brazil, will go to Sweden to participate in theoretical and on-the-job training We have 135 Brazilian engineers in Sweden and about 30 have already finished their training and are back in Brazil

13 ACHIEVEMENTS GRIPEN MARITIME 12 month final design phase completed late 2016 as part of the FX-2 ToT programme included three specialist engineers from Embraer Designed from the outset for CATOBAR and STOBAR Same operational capability plus commonality with Gripen E Small size allows more aircraft to be embarked than larger two engine competition On condition maintenance for simplified embarked support Best in class availability for high tempo sustained operations at sea The development of Gripen Maritime would be conducted with full participation of Brazilian industry Saab believes that Gripen Maritime would be the perfect long-term fighter solution for the future carrier programme
14 CONTRACT WITH ATMOS ON ILS Contract signed last week Atmos have excellent know-how within radar maintenance and support. Build-up of component maintenance capabilities for Gripen sensor systems such as radar and electronic warfare equipment in country to support Brazilian autonomy. Atmos will also be responsible for in country component maintenance for such systems. To secure a cost efficient maintenance solution for the Gripen platform and to secure outstanding availability for the complete weapon system.
