1. Precautins 1.1 General Safety Instructins fr Remval f EV Cmpnents All EV cmpnents have been manufactured in accrdance with applicable internatinal laws. They may nly be remved by suitably qualified persnnel wh must fllw apprpriate prcedures defined by the manufacturer and in line with natinal legislatin. Where ELV s with EV cmpnents are due fr recycling and dispsal, care must be taken t ensure that the EV cmpnents identified by the vehicle manufacturer are remved and recvered. In additin, the natinal legal requirements fr ther sectrs such as accident preventin, hazardus substances legislatin, hazardus and dangerus gds, traffic, building regulatins and training etc. must be bserved. Vehicle dismantlers must ensure that all emplyees handling EV cmpnents, and their supervisrs, familiarize themselves with this infrmatin / instructin material & any additinal infrmatin that may be prvided in the manufacturer specific dcuments. It is strngly recmmended t let emplyees cnfirm in writing the receipt f and familiarity with the relevant dcumentatin and safety / handling instructins. It is essential that all relevant health and safety regulatins tgether with the vehicle manufacturers' instructins fr the handling and safe treatment f the vehicle itself and the EV cmpnents be bserved. Infrmatin, safety and instructin materials, prvided by the vehicle and EV cmpnent manufacturers, as well as the attendance f training curses can be a suitable means f acquiring the necessary expertise. High vltage electricity is stred in the high vltage battery (cmmnly referred t as EV battery). Cmpnents such as an electric mtr, generatr, cmpressr, inverter, heater and air cnditiner are typically part f the high vltage electric system in tday's EV. The vltage f the high vltage battery will vary accrding t vehicle type and the manufacturer. If fully charged high vltage batteries may have an electrical ptential f up t several hundred vlts. 1.5 Required Prtectin Equipment a) Apprpriate prtective clthing dry-electrical High Vltage safety rubber glves, safety gggles, electrical hazard safety shes, acid resistant aprn Please take care t ensure that yur equipment fits prperly, is wrn crrectly and is nt damaged in anyway. b) Self adhesive electrical insulatin tape c) High Vltage Rubber insulatin mats d) Safety barriers e) High vltage insulated tls f) High vltage insulated stick Please refer t the manufacturer specific infrmatin fr ptential r specific natinal requirements fr further infrmatin n the prtectin equipment. 1.6 Imprtant General Pints Cncerning Handling f EVs and it's battery The high vltage system may remain pwered fr up t 10 minutes after being disabled. The methd f disabling the high vltage system is manufacturer specific. Never assume that the EV is pwered dwn because it is silent. Never tuch, cut r pen any range high vltage pwer cable r high vltage cmpnents withut persnal prtective equipment. D nt cause any impact that culd result in any damage. The electrlyte may be flammable and/r txic and can be damaging t human tissue. D nt have any metal bjects in yur pssessin while wrking n the battery. D nt allw pen flames near, apply heat t the EV battery r d nt expse t high temperature, e.g. lng perid in direct sunlight. D nt inhale spray, gas r aersl emitted frm the battery Avid cntact f battery cntents with skin and eyes Wear suitable prtective clthing, glves and eye/face prtectin In case f accident r if yu feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (shw label where pssible) Only islate and dismantle EV vehicle systems in well ventilated areas Avid release f battery cntents t the envirnment. Always refer t additinal instructins that may be given by the vehicle manufacturer. If battery material is swallwed and the persn is cnscius, rinse muth with water and seek medical advice immediately. The EV battery is heavy use mechanical assistance during manipulatin. In case f misuse r severe damage f Lithium In batteries there is ptential risk f heat, fire r degassing. Cmpnents with a strng magnetic filed are used in this vehicle. Operatrs with medical electric device such as pacemakers must nt carry ut EV dismantling as strng magnetic fields can affect the functin f the device. 2. General Remval Prcedures 2.1 Identifying an EV Each manufacturer has their specific identificatin methd fr EV. Please refer t the manufacturer specific infrmatin fr further infrmatin where available. There are several cmmn ways fr manufacturers t indicate an EV mdel: Vehicle Identificatin Number (VIN). This number is given by the manufacturer and may indicate mdel specificatins such as the use f a High Vltage Electrical System. Yu must refer t manufacturer specific infrmatin t lcate and read the infrmatin cntained in the VIN Lgs/ trademarks lcated n the exterir r engine cmpartment f the vehicle indicating use f EV Technlgy. Specific t each manufacturer. Interir: Instrument cluster (pwer meter/ battery surveillance device) lcated in the dash. Check wner s manual 2.2 Safety precautins On receiving an EV first examine the high vltage battery visually fr physical, mechanical damage, intrusin and leakage. If the HV battery is identified as damaged handle in accrdance with manufacturer specific instructin and applicable natinal legislatin and guidelines. Befre remval f HV battery, ensure the area arund the EV is restricted and marked. Place a High vltage sign n the vehicle.
