Prioritizing and enabling capital improvement projects bicycle and pedestrian facilities and safe routes to schools will reduce emissions once such facilities are constructed. Current adopted bike/ped plans are a prerequisite for many State and Federal capital improvement grants. TOTAL COST: $30,000 Demonstration. Second year of program to provide guaranteed rides home to registered participants who rideshare or ride transit to work, to encourage these modes of travel. Prior AB2766 funding for this progam was also $15K Providing insurance for emergency travel during working hours will encourage greater rideshare, vanpool and transit commuting, reducing auto emissions. Printing and distributing 1,000-2,000 free maps of bicycle and pedestrian facilities and safe routes to schools in the adopted 2008 Bikeway and Pedestrian Master Plan will further encourage and enable use of bike and walk modes, reducing auto emissions.
