Installation, Connection and Startup Instructions Safety and Compliance: See Annex 1 Introduction: This document describes the standard installation procedure for the Nexxtender Advance and Nextender Base Dual WALL charging station. As a general rule, the installation must be performed by a capable and qualified individual, in compliance with local laws and regulations, following the proper rules and safety measures. As concerns the Start- up: besides possessing the necessary technical competences required for the installation and connection of the charging station, the installer must also possess sufficient knowledge and skills concerning electric vehicles (ISO standard 61851-1). WARNING: the mural charging station is not equipped with a differential switch or a circuit breaker. The installer must consequently add these protections to the electrical panel. Required Equipment: Drill Screw anchors (4X) Screws (4X) Water level Flat screwdriver Ratchet wrench Socket wrench (8) Nexxtender Advance and Nexxtender Base Preparing the electrical panel: When installing the charging station, also plan for some space in your electrical panel to accommodate the protections. We recommend adding a differential switch of 30 ma and a circuit breaker adapted to the station s maximum current. If your panel is complete, it is entirely possible (as pictured below) to put up an additional electrical panel near the charging station. Preparing the wall (support): If the bearing surface is not perfectly flat, create a mounting plate (support plan) to ensure correct alignment and avoid distorting the metal structure during clamping. Always respect the vertical positioning when installing the station. Avoid placing the charging station in an area exposed to direct sunlight (as this could cause problems of screen readability, excessive overheating of dark surfaces and plastic discoloration). Take into account the off- centre position of the power cable during the lateral positioning of the case. Foresee 5 cm of free space above and on the sides of the upper part of the metal case; and about 30 cm around the lower part. Once the metal support is in place, proceed to connect the power cable.
Step by step installation of a dual wall charging station: Unpacking the terminal To install the terminal: firstly, open it to dissociate the power component from the control unit. To do this, place the terminal vertically (Mennekes connector facing down) allowing the locking rods to drop down. Then, remove the two screws on the bottom part of the terminal 1 2
Finally, put the case down on a level surface. After lifting the cover of the electrical outlet slightly, carefully remove the plastic housing of the control box by pulling it away from the front of the box in a perpendicular movement. Installing the case Install the metal case with screw anchors adapted to the support material. Position the metal unit so that electronics and top of the charging plug face down. If necessary, use the drilling template. Adapt terminal height to suit access, normal height for the top of the metal case, relative to the floor, is around 150cm. The fixing screws have a diameter of max. 4mm. When applying the fixing screws, do not forget to check for the presence of sealing discs.
Choice of connection type The Nexxtender is compatible with all electrical network configurations. Connecting the power cable WARNING: Make sure to turn off power to the device before performing this step Once the metal case is mechanically installed on the vertical surface, connect the power cable by using the adequate section, according to the final power. The chosen section will be: 6 to 10mm²with rigid cable 6 mm² with flexible cable Put the provided PG21 cable gland on the cable. Insert this in the intended hole on the left of the metal housing. Remove 15 to 20 cm of the protective sleeve on the cables. Expose the wires for approximately 15mm. Insert a flat screwdriver in the horizontal slit of the spring- cage terminal blocks to open the connection. Insert every wire corresponding to the standard colour in the terminal and the phase marks: Ground, Neutral, L1, L2, and L3. Make a neat finishing loop with each wire, so that none of them protrude from the white metal housing.
After the wiring is completed, gently replace the control case by holding one finger in the opening of the Type 2 plug and then slightly lifting the case. Finally, set it in place without forcing WARNING: for the Nexxtender Advance If a LAN connection (Ethernet) is used, connect the Ethernet cable to the connector provided in the control box and also use the provided hole in the PG12 case, thereby allowing the Ethernet cable to pass through, independently of the power box. Warning: avoid the Ethernet cable getting stuck between the control box and the metal power box. If no LAN connection is used, place the provided PG12 cap. Locking the terminal Install two lock screws on either side of the case. 1
Start- up (only for Nexxtender Advance) First, turn on the terminal. In case the Nexxtender Advance uses a GPRS/3G or a LAN connection, the following text will appear on the screen after turning it on and complete boot- up: - - - LED in bleu NET = OK Automatically synchronized time via the network. Then, test the proper functioning of the station with a station simulator. This will simulate all the states planned by the ISO 62851-1 standard. If possible, start a power test with an electric vehicle. Main features of the Nexxtender Advance and Nexxtender Base Dual Wall station: - Dual- phase 230 VAC or 3- phase 380VAC with Neutral - Up to 32A per phase, adjustable on demand - Mode 3 type 2 - Mechanical locking of the Type 2 plug - GPRS Communication available (for the Nexxtender Advance) - RFID reader, available as an option (for the Nexxtender Advance)
