April 26, 2016 KANPUR ELECTRICITY COMPANY LIMITED Report Card for 2015-16 Profile KESCO was formed on 15 jan 2000 as a subsidiary of UPPCL to take care of power distribution work of Kanpur city. KESCO has a turn over of 1900 crores on date. It caters to 5.39 lakh consumers in Kanpur city area. KESCO distributes power through 82 substations and collects revenue through 49 collection centers.. Financial Achievements in 2015-16 KESCO is the first discom in Uttar Pradesh to achieve 100 % of its financial target Rs 1991.69 crores as against Rs 1987 crores set by UPPCL in 2015-16. [ last year revenue collection was Rs 1657.24 crores over which this year increase is Rs 334.45 crores which is 20.18 %). It is on its way to also become the only discom in Uttar Pradesh to earn operational profit from the next financial year 2016-17 due to this achievement. KESCO has achieved through rate of Rs 5.60 as against power purchase rate of Rs 4.58. AT&C loss in 2015-16 reduced to 18.06 % from 26.23 % in 2014-15. 1

Energy efficiency SOLAR ENERGY Technical Achievements April 26, 2016 KESCO HAS INSTALLED ABOUT 201 KW CAPACITY OF SOLAR POWER PLANTS ON ITS OWN ROOFS # ENTIRE KESCO HEAD OFFICE TAKEN ON SOLAR WITH NET METER # ALL COLLECTION CENTERS TAKEN INTO SOLAR # AS SOON AS OPERATIONAL, PLAN TO DO AWAY WITH GENERATORS WHICH POLLUTE ENVIRONMENT # FIRST DISCOM TO DO SO IN UTTAR PRADESH # STEP TO MOTIVATE CONSUMERS TO GO ON NET METERING LED distribution # 13.68 lakh LED bulbs distributed in KESCO since June 2015 in collaboration with EESL. # Super-efficient Fans distribution officially launched on 11.4.16. 1000 fans already distributed # Entire KESCO HQ on LED lights and fans. Kanpur City (Kesco area) has 24 hrs power supply since 2015. Seven new sub stations added in 2015-16. Underground cable sanctioned by State Government for high theft prone areas of Cycle market( Rs 39.82 cr), Mall Road (Rs 32.29 Cr) and Babupurva ( Rs 44.20 cr). Beautification work (for Rs 30 Cr) from CSA through sarsaiya ghat through mall road upto Narona Chauraha to be taken up shortly [All tenders done. All works to be completed in 2016]. Another major work in KESCO in 2015-16 includes electrification of several areas where people had no access to electrical infrastructure ( baas balli areas where people were forced to get electricity through wires hanging on bamboo poles), thus creating electricity access for 70000 households in Kanpur and in the process adding 40000 consumers into KESCO database. This funded through UPPCL s Revolving fund and Business Plan (15-16) of Rs 22 crores. 2

April 26, 2016 IT in KESCO in 2015-16. Launching of cloud services (Kesco DC server at Sify IDC, Noida and DR server at Sify IDC, Bangaluru). First Discom in Uttar Pradesh to do so. Rural Cloud - based billing is to be modeled on KESCO s cloud services.. New billing application m-power hosted on cloud now.. In Metering, entire net metering, bill generation,prepaid metering, Tod billing, swipe machine bill collection at counters through new m- Power.. Billing has been changed to GPS -enabled real time OCR billing.. New softwares like m-dristii, online inventory module, Works management system and e - Tendering put in place for monitoring raids, tender process and infrastructure works. All these have introduced transparency in the system.. Feeder metering and DT metering introduced with online monitoring so as to improve and increase life of transformers.. For the convenience of consumers, various modes of payment: net banking, credit card, debit card, Cash Deposit machine, swipe machine etc have been introduced. 3

April 26, 2016. Map my location and map my substation in mobile app and website helps consumers to identify their nearest location of substation and collection centers.. A new voice interactive call center comparable to any MNC call center at NOIDA is in place to collect consumer grievance through 1912 number. IT.Twitter updates are given at #kescokanpur for realtime supply updates.. Facebook page of KescoKanpur gives updates on all works taken up by KESCO.. WhatsApp is used to monitor 24 hrs supply by a system of nodal officers who update breakdowns immediately which is updated immediately by call center in NOIDA. A separate number to collect grievances from public thru whatsapp also circulated.. Supply position is given to registered consumers through sms (Urja Mitr initiative).. A new Tatkal system introduced in railways model to provide New Service Connections for all 5 KW and above connections. This will be upgraded to premium service in future.. In case billing agency fails to give bill within 20 th of any month, consumer can generate their own bill through Trust - based billing. 4

April 26, 2016 IT. Our control rooms have been revamped and equipped with latest computers and monitors which monitor 24 hrs webcams installed in every substation, collection center and store.. All our officers have been given latest desktops ( entire offices and collection centers), laptops( for CE, SE s and all EXENs) and Tablets ( for all JE s) in lieu with the idea of going into paperless office this year.new data plan also given for enabling officers to feed data and issue notices onsite. Other. 2 Mbps dedicated MPLS data line for all collection centers which may be converted to optic fiber this year. Hi- tech Lab for testing equipments, materials and transformers - the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh. After NABLL accreditation will become nodal for UP. CNG based TATA Magic vehicles - These Vehicles are CNG - based and are available in substations at all times 24*7 which enable us to reduce response time greatly in attending complaints. - 5

April 26, 2016 Mission in 2016-17 SCADA planned in all substations on pilot basis. Plan into set up a control room in Kanpur city itself for controlling supply and supply quality through this control room in KESCO. Enterprise Resource Planning software ( ERP ) to be implemented this year to make KESCO paperless. Talks on with oracle. e- Toilets to be installed in all collection centers on the model of Chennai Municipal Corporation. Underground cabling in four more theft prone areas in Kanpur planned this year IPDS for 460 crores to be implemented in 2016-17 Smart Grid initiative - Ground work for this is already being done with implementing DT metering, Feeder metering, SCADA etc. Plan is to make Kanpur city into smart city with respect to electricity. (talks on with Phoenix and NSGM) 6
