HISTORICAL NOTES THE B MODEL ENGINES WERE INTRODUCED AS IMPROVEMENTS ALLOWED A GREATER SPEED THAN ON THE PREVIOUS ENGINE MODELS THE FFTL-X ENGINE WAS BUILT IN 2166 FOR USE IN THE BATTLE CRUISER PROTOTYPE. THE ENGINE PROVED AS EXPENSIVE AS THE REST OF THE PROJECT SO WAS SHELVED. IT EVOLVED INTO THE FAR LIGHTER AND MORE POWERFUL FFTL-3B 11 YEARS LATER.
