A 1 User notes A 1.1 Meaning of the pictograms Situation which can lead to danger, damage to materials or operating faults if the information is ignored. Automatic mode Automatic sequence Close, screw in, fasten, etc. Open, release, loosen + more, higher - less, lower Continuous operation Time, time sequence Disconnect mains plug A 1.2 Important information The operating instructions should be read by the user before putting the unit into operation for the first time, in order to avoid incorrect operation and damage. If further language versions are required, please request these from your responsible KaVo agent. Duplication and distribution of the Operating Instructions (OI) require prior consent from KaVo. All technical data, information and properties of the unit described in these OI instructions correspond to the situation on going to press. Modifications and improvements to the product on the basis of technical innovations are possible. This does not imply any right to upgrading of existing units. KaVo assumes no responsibility for damage arising through: external influences (poor quality of the media or poor installation) use of incorrect information improper use improperly performed repairs. The following are authorized to repair and service KaVo products: the engineers of the KaVo agents throughout the world the engineers of the KaVo dealers who have been specially trained by KaVo independent engineers specially trained by KaVo. In the event of modifications by third parties, the approvals become null and void. KaVo recommends using only original spare parts for operation and for repairs A 1.3 Safety measures Safe operation and protection of the product is only assured by proper usage according to the Operating Instructions and by using the approved tools. Additionally, the following are to be observed: Safety at Work Regulations Prevention of Accidents Regulations In accordance with these requirements, it is the duty of the user: to use only flawless materials to observe the correct applications to protect the patient, and others, from injury to avoid contamination by the product not to operate the unit if functional parts are damaged. The light must be operated in dry rooms, free from danger of explosion! With lights of Protection Class 1, it is absolutely essential that the earth wire is connected to the light housing. Failure to observe this could lead to danger of electric shock! 2
A 1.4 Uses and applications The workplace light(s) are designed for individual place lighting and, according to DIN 5035 Part 1, are to be used in addition to the overall illumination. Location: Only in dry rooms, free from risk of explosion. Type of operation: The light is designed for continuous operation. Any other use or type of application is considered to be outside the proper useage. KaVo assumes no liability for any resulting damages. Proper useage includes also: Observing all recommendations in the operating instructions, and Carrying out the maintenance procedures. A 1.5 Cleaning and care of the unit Regular cleaning of the transparent diffuser ensures a continuing high level of the light output. Use a cloth soaked in normal household cleanser for cleaning of the component parts. Ensure that the cleanser to be used has no adverse reactions on painted or plastic surfaces. Under no circumstances must concentrated disinfectants or solvent materials such as, for example, Sagrotan, Lysoform, Ethylalcohol or other liquids containing alcohol be used for cleaning. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage caused by chemical agents such as unsuitable cleaning materials. When cleaning or disinfecting, make certain: that the electrical plug is disconnected, that no fluids enter the interior of the unit, as this can lead to faults. 3
A 2 Installation Leuchte darf nicht über der Bunsenbrennerflamme positioniert werden. The light must be securely positioned on the mounting surface by means of the provided adapter part 3. For the location of the adapter part, it is necessary to bore a 36 mm diameter hole through the mounting surface. Guide the electrical cable from above through the hole. Locate the cable in the notch 1 of the adapter part. Provide sufficient cable (looped). 3 Mount the adapter to the surface using 3 screws 4. Insert the light into the adapter. Tighten screw 2 at the adapter as needed. 4 2 3 1 A 3 Electrical connection Ensure that the local voltage agrees with the nominal voltage indicated on the rating plate, before connecting to the mains supply. A 4 Setting up Mounting left or right on the workstation. To adjust the light from the right R to the left L of the workstation, it is necessary to turn the jointed arm 3 180. 1 A 4.1 Turning the jointed arm Loosen screw 5 underneath the joint head 1. Turn arm 3 180 B. Re-tighten screw 5 under the joint head. 4 L R 2 3 A 4.2 Adjusting the hinge-joints The two main hinge-joints are adjustable by means of a lever 2. Each joint is adjusted so that the light can be easily moved, but the joint remains in the desired position. The ball joint 4 at the light-head can be adjusted right or left from the joint as required, with the two screws. A Safe operation and safety in general can only be ensured by correct use according to the instructions for use, maintenance and installation. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage or injury resulting from incorrect operation. Correct use is possible only through compliance with the requirements of EN 61010. - Indoor use - Temperatures between 5ºC and 40ºC - Max. relative air humidity 80% at temperatures up to 31ºC reducing linearly to 50% relative air humidity at 40ºC. - Supply voltage fluctuations must not be greater than ± 10% of the rated voltage. - Overvoltage category II - Degree of pollution 2 (according to IEC 664) 6 5 Compliance is required with accident prevention regulations. Switching on and off The light is switched on and off with the rocker switch on the arm. 5
A 6 Maintenance, repair and disposal Before any repair or maintenance work, disconnect the light from the mains supply! This work must be carried out only by a trained electrician! Only spare parts authorised by the manufacturer must be used. 2 1 A 6.1 Changing a fluorescent tube Open the light 3 Insert a screwdriver 3 between the reflector housing 1 and the diffuser 2, and lift out the diffuser 2. Press the red knob a on the lamp holder, and take out the tube b. Lampe einsetzen Den roten Knopf a an der Lampenfassung drücken und den Lampensockel vorsichtig eindrücken b. A 7 Operating faults Repair and maintenance work on the elec-trical part of the lamp must be carried out only by trained persons or personnel trained in the factory who are familiar with the safety regulations. Before opening parts of the housing, unplug the power plug or dis-connect the appliance from the supply connection on all poles to ensure that the lamp has no voltage applied. Guarantee conditions Under valid KaVo EWL delivery and payment conditions, KaVo EWL gives a guarantee of satisfactory function and freedom from faults in material and manufacture for the duration of 6 months from the date of sale certified by the vendor. After expiry of the warranty, KaVo gives a guarantee of another 6 months for damage attributable to deficiencies in the material or in manufacture. In the case of justifiable complaints, KaVo EWL shall supply spare parts or carry out repairs free of charge. KaVo EWL accepts no liability for defects and their consequences which have arisen or could have arisen as a result of natural wear, improper handling, cleaning or maintenance, noncompliance with the maintenance, operating and connecting instructions, corrosion, impurities in the air supply or chemical or electrical influences which are unusual or not admissible in accordance with KaVo's instructions. The guarantee shall become null and void if defects or their consequences can be attributed to interventions in or modifications to the product. Guarantee claims can only be validated if they are notified immediately in writing to KaVo EWL. 9
