The BiTDI engine proved itself over 18,000 kilometres of desert testing at the Dakar Rally without a single breakdown add to this over 8 million kilometres of testing by Volkswagen engineers and you have an engine that thrives in the harshest local conditions. Two exhaust turbochargers result in impressive vehicle response at lower engine revs and an increased power output at higher revs. At the touch of a button, Off-road ABS can be engaged. It ensures that the wheels lock up in a controlled manner allowing small wedges of material from the ground (such as gravel or sand) to build up in front of the wheels to further assist braking as well as reduce braking distance. Shiftable 4MOTION lets the Amarok distribute driving force equally across the front and rear axles. All it takes is the push of a button and you will experience reliable traction on almost all road surfaces. For those particularly challenging assignments, low range can be engaged to make sure you deliver on time, every time. During acceleration, rear-wheel drive transfers weight to the back wheels for optimal road contact. It ensures that steering is not influenced by engine torque.
Take on any load. No matter what the load, the Amarok can handle it. The Amarok s load bay dimensions are designed to optimize the available space. A width of 1,222mm between the wheelhouses allows it to load two Euro pallets crosswise unthinkable for most bakkies. All of the Amarok s impressive 3.57m² load area is therefore used in an optimal manner. If needed, the sturdy tailboard can be used as a practical extension of the load area and on models without a rear bumper, it can even be folded down at a 180 angle to make loading and unloading as easy as possible. To ensure that everything is in place, the load can be secured on six lashing eyes using tie-down belts. At 780mm, the loading sill is kept low for easier loading and unloading while the tailboard height of 508mm is exceptionally high. In this way, the load bay is optimally designed for bulk cargo. That s why with an Amarok on your fleet, no load is off limits.

Class-leading comfort.
High-quality workmanship is a hallmark feature in the spacious cabin, offering, among other things, a generous amount of head and leg room and a highly functional cockpit. Special attention has also been paid to stowage areas there s a practical box behind the gear lever knob and a stowage cavity in the dashboard. The driver and front passenger seats can be adjusted individually and ergonomically, which means that you and your cargo get where you need to go in comfort.
Running gear. With a robust 6-speed gearbox standard across the range, no terrain is off limits. Whether it s on gravel, sand, stone or asphalt, you ll enjoy a superior level of comfort, traction and control in the Amarok. Even steep inclines won t be a problem. The Amarok can pull a 3-ton braked trailer load up a 12% incline. It can even conquer hills with a 45 incline while loaded with a ton another unthinkable feat for most bakkies. Thanks to an approach angle of 28, even large obstructions such as tree trunks, dongas and boulders won t slow you down too much either. Just one other way the Amarok Single Cab works harder. Ramp angle. The Amarok can take you over sticks and stones safely. And over significantly bigger things too. With a ramp angle of 23, even large obstacles such as tree trunks and rocks are no longer a problem. Approach and departure angle. The Amarok can brave steep hills as well as deep puddles. It has an impressive approach angle of 28 and a departure angle of 23.6 (28 without bumper) as well as a wading depth of up to 500mm. Side slope angle. The Amarok has an affinity for extremes and can even handle roads with a lateral tilt of approximately 50. Now you ll be able to cross any slopes without a problem. Hill-climbing ability. The Amarok can climb any mountain and carry your load at the same time. A trailer load of 3.0 tons is no problem at a 12% incline. With a payload of 1 ton, it can conquer hills with a 100% (45 ) incline.
Safety at work. The Amarok works hard to keep its precious human cargo safe. Optional ESP prevents the Amarok from swerving, leaving you feeling confident and in control. In order to respond to critical driving conditions, the system evaluates data provided by a network of sensors. It recognises what direction you are steering in and what direction the vehicle is moving in and it also monitors the load situation. The Amarok then responds by adjusting brake pressure, keeping you safe, second by second. Electronic Stabilisation Programme. Optional features that work in conjunction with the ESP further boost safety. These include Hill Start and Hill Descent Assist which prevent the Amarok from rolling backwards on a steep incline and increase braking pressure on downhill slopes. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Another active safety feature in the Amarok is the ABS. If a wheel is in danger of locking, the ABS system immediately intervenes by reducing the brake pressure in a controlled manner. This helps to keep the Amarok fully steerable in situations where hard braking is necessary. In the event of a collision, driver airbags are activated to minimise injury.
Colours. Even the paint applied to your Amarok works harder. Each finish is applied in several coats. The result is a scratch-resistant, tough upper layer which keeps it looking good as new even in extreme working conditions.
