The engineers assume their new position as a project manager without the specific enhancement of leadership or project management skills. These new managers consequently become ineffective as they undergo the transition which often leaves them frustrated and unmotivated. This new workshop will provide the knowledge and tools needed for engineers to understand the transition from the role as an engineer to function successfully as a project manager. The theoretical content is what a project manager needs to know for a demanding medium sized project. What is new is the 3 stage delivery technique to make this course much more valuable for the participants. Stage 1(pre course) Stage 2 (during course) Stage 3 (post course) = New learning Experience = 200% ROI Theoretical + Practical (Real Life Project Simulation)
STAGE 1: When the participants sign up for the course, they are given online theory papers to read and audio books to listen before the actual course. With pre-course questionnaires, the trainer will access the needs of the participants before attending this workshop. Based on that, the actual course - STAGE 2 - will have more impact on the participant because the trainer can prepare more comprehensively and is familiar with the participants industry, requirements and course objectives. Active trainer interaction is necessary to ensure the participants using the pre-course material. STAGE 2: Since the participants got upfront theory and papers, STAGE 2 starts with a Q&A session and then modules to deepen the content for self management, leadership, communication, and risk management. The project management theory is also explained, but this is more a topic of the second day. The second day will be used for SimulTrain, a professional project management simulation which is very close to reality as it requires interaction between the participants and the simulation, which will call the team, send emails and updating project parameters. With STAGE 2 being a very practical session, the participants can rehearse in a team a real project and get the feel of managing time, cost, quality, resources and risks. And the simulation is in a team, hence, coordination, team and leadership skills become visible. STAGE 3: In a standard course, Stage 1 and Stage 3 do not exist. However, based on our vast experience we can see that the correct setup as per STAGE 1 is very helpful for participants to absorb more content, and learn the practical aspect in STAGE 2. Based on the simulation and the results achieved, each team will receive a report with learning points. Additional to that, the trainer will provide a summary of the training with recommendations what is next and tips and tricks for continuous development. With that, the participants gain a much stronger momentum to implement the learning in the job and even continue learning after THE NEW ENGINEER TO PROJECT MANAGER COURSE. WHY YOU CANNOT MISS THE EVENT Today, almost every industry employs Project Management Practitioners. In fact, companies reported that the first step to achieving a good ROI is professional project planning and implementation when they ranked Project Management as the top desired skill in the Global Knowledge-Tech Republic 2016 Salary Survey. Additional to that, the entrepreneurial thinking and applying strategy as a project manager makes the difference to the ROI and timely delivery of the project. Knowing the above, enhancing your skills as a project manager is a MUST and will contribute positively in your daily work with higher efficiency and better results. With THE NEW ENGINEER TO PROJECT MANAGER COURSE the value of the content and the practical aspect will have a much higher impact to the participant and the project. The exposure is to the theory of project management, self management, leadership, communication and risk management and due to the higher interaction between trainer and participant, the topics sink much deeper. With the real application of the theory during the simulation, the participants have a much closer experience to what they learned than any standard course can deliver. The additional learning points and training summary after the course will keep up the momentum of learning and development with the participant
