Alternatives Under Consideration Alternatives No Build Transportation System Management (TSM) Build Alignments Modes o Van Nuys Corridor o Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) o Sepulveda Corridor o Light Rail Transit (LRT) o Hybrid of both Corridors o Streetcar 12
Alternatives Under Consideration No Build Represents Study Area in 2035, if no project built Includes all existing highway and transit services and facilities, and committed projects Transportation System Management (TSM) Implements lower cost capital improvements to increase transportation system efficiencies Intersection widenings and signal timing Increased bus service 13
Modes Under Consideration Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Exclusive lane, but can operate in mixed-flow traffic Clean fuel (CNG) power Up to 100 passengers per bus Transportation System Management (TSM) Can share existing maintenance facilities Implements lower cost capital improvements to increase transportation Similar to Metro system Orange efficiencies and Silver Lines Intersection widenings and signal timing Increased bus service 14
Modes Under Consideration Light Rail Transit (LRT) Exclusive Right of Way Overhead electrical power Up to 335 passengers per two car train set Transportation Typically System one mile Management station spacing (TSM) Implements Would lower cost require capital a new improvements maintenance to facility increase transportation Similar to Metro system Blue, efficiencies Green, and Gold Intersection Lines widenings and signal timing Increased bus service 15
Modes Under Consideration Streetcar Typically operates in mixed-flow lane Overhead electrical power Up to 140 passengers per car Transportation Station stops System generally Management more frequent (TSM) Implements Would lower cost require capital a new improvements maintenance to facility increase transportation Similar to Portland, system efficiencies Oregon Intersection widenings and signal timing Increased bus service 16
