UNSURPASSED ACCURACY Here are four major factors affecting the accuracy of any Power Shear Deflection of Knife Bar or Table. If there is any deflection of the knife bar or table, the blade settings are disturbed and must be corrected if subsequent cuts are to be accurate. There must be maximum rigidity of these parts to prevent deflection and loss of accuracy. End frames must be rigid and accurately fitted to the table. The mating surfaces of end frames and tables on Wysong Shears are accurately machined and exceptionally large in area. Accurate measurement from the cutting line cannot be maintained if the back gauge ang Ie is forced out of true by the repeated blows of positioning stock or by excessive vibration of the knife bar to which it is attached. An efficient back gauge must not only be sufficiently rugged to resist these impacts but solidly mounted and supported to prevent the loosening and wear that is caused by the vibration of the knife bar on some makes of shears. Improper Clearance of Knife Bar Ways. If the clearance between the knife bar and the ways in which it travels is too great, the knife bar may float or wobble. Unless it travels in a true path, accuracy, is lost. It is essential that the knife bar have ample bearing surfaces-both front and back-with means for adjusting and maintaining the clearances between these surfaces and the wear plates between which they travel. The loss of accuracy would correspond with the amount of movement the stock had made. WYSONG HINGED ~~~BACK GAUGE An exceptionally rugged, hinged back gauge (36 inch range) is standard equipment on all 3/8 " and V2" models. On these models 48" range available at extra cost. The hinged back gauge is also available at extra cost on models 1010 HO, 10-144, all 3;16",1,4", and 5;16" models. The back gauge can be swung up and easily secured to permit shearing beyond back gauge range. FRONT OPERATED POWER BACK GAUGE Any Wysong Power Shear can be equipped with a front-operated 2-speed Power Back Gauge as optional equipment. (Standard on V2" models only.) Fast speed as back stop travels away from cutting edge and 2 speeds as it travels toward cutting edge. Push button controls make setting of Power Back Gauge fast and accurate. Where frequent changes of gauge setting are required, this feature will soon pay for itself. 11

WYSONG'S MAGNETIC SHEET SUPPORT When shearing sheets up to 14 gauge the normal sag between the cutting line and the back gauge angle is eliminated. The picture at left shows a sheet of 16 gauge mild steel held in a straight plane with its leading edge in contact with the back gauge angle. The channels which hold the magnetic rollers can be readily lifted and locked in position when support of a sheet is not required. Ball Bearing Precision Back Gauges (hand operated) are standard on all Wysong Power Shears except Y2" models. Front Operated Back Gauge is standard on Models 10 ~ 0 HD, 10-144, all 3116" models, all 1,4" models, all 5116" models, and 7's" models. Rear Operated Back Gauge on all smaller models. 2 speed power back gauge standard on Y2" models. SQUARING ARMS Available in ranges of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 feet from cutting edge for use on either right or left hand side of machine, as specified. Illustration above shows arm as attached to shear. The embedded stainless steel scale is adjustable to give accurate measure from cutting edge. The scale is machine graduated. Each squaring arm is equipped with two swing stops, with extra stops available. DISAPPEARING STOPS for front gauging. These stops fit snugly in accurately machined T-Slots to make front gauging easier and more accurate. ACCURATE STAINLESS STEEL SCALES are imbedded in tables of all power shears. This feature aids in measuring accurately from cutting line. 12

RUGGED 9-JAW CLUTCH AND DRIVE UNIT FOR WYSONG POWER SHEARS [ Illustration shows rugged 9-jaw Wysong Clutch built of highest grade forged, alloy steel... scientifically heat-treated and accurately machined. Simple in design and operation, the clutch can be set for single stroke or continuous shearing. This timeproven clutch is standard equipment on all Wysong Power Shears. High Speed Gears, accurately machined are straddle mounted on all models except 1224, 1452, 1436 and 616, and HS Models. This insures proper meshing and eliminates deflection. long life Spherical Roller bearings are used on intermediate and drive gear mountings. CAM OPERATED BRAKE ASSEMBLY Standard on all Wysong Power Shears is a highly effective cam-operated brake. All drag on the down stroke is completely eliminated. Activated at the top of the stroke only, this brake assures you of years of trouble-free operation. 13

HOLDDOWNS SPRING ACTIVATED HOLDDOWN-a powerful, automatic, Counter balancing springs with guard removed as used on Modell 010 RD and smaller compensating holddown is standard equipment on all Wysong Power Shears. Inset shows the compression springs which models where counterbalancing is desirable. adjust pressure for varying thicknesses of sheets, or for shearing metals of different gauges simultaneously. /' \./'-, /' ' / / > 14 POWERFUL, AUTOMATIC HOLDDOWN-Powerful, automatic holddown with finger guard for operator's protection is pictured above. Quieter, with no oil leakage, no valves to adjust, less cost of maintenance. Holddowns can be masked to prevent marring of material to be sheared. Can be adjusted to provide pressure best suited for the job. A simple bolt adjustment is all that's needed to regulate holddown pressure. Standard on 1010 HD, 10-144,3116",1,4",5116", 3fa" and Y2" Shears. Wysong Power Holddowns are activated by split-type, heat treated cams located on the main drive shaft. Note heavy counter ba lancing springs which return massive knife bar to top position. Roller and cam (see arrows) mechanically operate the holddown on larger models.

SAFETY FEATURES TREADLE LOCK This safety feature prevents accidental tripping of treadle and possible injury to the operator or a bystander. Stationary holddown guard makes it impossible to get fingers under holddown feet. Stationary finger guard makes it impossible for fingers to reach cutting line. 15
