Safety Instructions WARNING To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following: READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS DANGER To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself. Return the appliance to your retailer or discard the appliance. If an electrical appliance falls into the water, or water drips onto the electronics, DON T reach for it! First unplug it and then retrieve it. If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately. Always unplug appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug fully and pull out to disconnect. Carefully examine the appliance after replacement. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Do not use the prodduct for anything other then its intended use. The use of attachments no recommended or sold by Current USA may cause unsafe conditions. Exposing power cords to water may cause electrical short and fire. Do not attemped any repairs to pump while submersed or wet. Always unplug unit when not in use. Do not operate pump without water flow to the unit. This may cause damage to the unit. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER PROTECTION To comply with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), and to provide additional protection from the risk of shock, this unit MUST be connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet at all times. Do not use extension cords. WARNING To reduce the risk of electrocution, keep all connections dry and off the ground. Do not touch plug with wet hands.

Skimmer Assembly 1. Before removing your Fission Skimmer from the box, please note any exterior shipping damage to the box. It is strongly recommended to keep the box and packaging material in the unlikely event there is shipping damage or service is required. 2. Remove the skimmer from the box and inspect thoroughly for any signs of damage, even if the box does not show damage. If you notice any damage (broken plastic, cracked lid, damaged pump, etc...) please stop and contact your dealer immediately. A B C D E F J I G H Parts List: A. Skimmer Cup B. Skimmer Bottom / Inlet C. Submersible Pump D. Skimmer Cup Top E. Skimmer Bottom Cup F. Inlet Venturi Hose G. Skimmer main body w/ Suction Cups H. Internal Flow Rotator I. 90 Degree Inlet Adaptors J. Internal Bubble Foam Ring 3. Insert the Internal Bubble Foam Ring (Part J) into bottom of the Skimmer Cup (Part A) so that the foam pad fits snugly into the slotted bottom of the cup. The foam pad helps eliminate microbubbles from leaving the skimmer. Slide Skimmer Cup Top (Part E) onto top of cup. 4. Slide Internal Flow Rotator (Part H) into bottom of skimmer (Part B), this will be pre-installed in most cases. Attach Skimmer Bottom Cup (Part E) to the bottom of the skimmer. 5. Please note that all fittings should fit snuggly into place. It is not necessary to use any type of glue or silicone to assemble the skimmer.

skimmer assembly 6. Slide bottom portion of skimmer into the bottom of the skimmer body. Once assembled, the skimmer should look as follows: Part D - Skimmer Cup Top Part A - Skimmer Cup Part J - Internal Bubble Foam Ring Part H - Internal Flow Rotator Part G - Skimmer Body w/suction Cups Part B - Skimmer Bottom / Inlet Part E - Skimmer Bottom Cup 7. Once the skimmer is assembled, it is ready for installation into the aquarium. Please follow the steps on Page 5 for aquarium installation and guidelines.

skimmer installation 1. The Fission Nano-Skimmer is designed for smaller aquariums and can be placed either directly into an aquarium, or into a small filtration part of the tank. 2. After choosing a location for the skimmer, attach the pump to the skimmer. Two 90 degree elbows are included to allow the pump to be mounted in multiple locations for better fitting. See below photos for examples: FIGURE A. This type of installation is ideal for installing the skimmer directly into an aquarium or in a narrow filter FIGURE B. An alternative way to connect the pump directly to the skimmer. Note that the skimmer body can be rotated to allow for a tank corner installation. 3. Secure pump and skimmer securely into tank using mounting suction cups provided. As an alternative, a mounting clip is also included for clipping the skimmer to internal filter walls. 4. Ensure that the air supply line is attached up out of the water. Air must be able to flow freely into the pump intake in order for proper operation. (See Figure C) 5. IMPORTANT: Before plugging the pump in, make sure that a proper drip loop line has been set up for the skimmer. Is is important that the skimmer pump MUST be plugged into a proper GFCI outlet before operation. (See Figure D.)

skimmer installation Air Inlet Tubing Optimum Water Level FIGURE C Please note that air inlet tubing must be above water level. Also note the optimum water level. This water level must be maintained for optimum foam production. WARNING - To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. GFCI Protected Outlet Pump FIGURE D Aquarium Tank Drip Loop A drip loop, shown in the figure above, should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The drip loop is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DON T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then, unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.

skimmer maintenance WARNING: Always disconnect air injection pump before doing any maintenance. Only clean with warm freshwater. NEVER use soaps, cleaning agents or detergents. maintenance 1. Always ensure that the tank water level is maintained. The design of this skimmer is very dependent upon the water level. Not maintaining an adequete water level will result in low or no foam production. 2. Weekly, the skimmer cup should be removed and cleaned of any foam. In heavily stocked tanks, the skimmer cup may need to be cleaned 2-3 times per week. 3. Always ensure that air inlet hose is clean and debris free. Remove any salt buildup by rinsing with a small amount of warm freshwater. 4. Monthly the foam bubble pad should be removed and cleaned in warm freshwater, then replaced. It is important that this skimmer operate 24 hours per day. The skimmer is designed to remove organic build-up in marine aquariums and is designed to operate continuously. Troubleshooting 1. Foam Production is very wet This indicates that the water level is too high in the skimmer or that the skimmer is submersed to low in the tank. The skimmer may need to be raised small increments at a time in order to operate efficiently. 2. Foam Production is very dry or there is no foam production This indicates that the water level is too low in the skimmer or that the skimmer is not submersed enough in the tank. The skimmer may need to be lowered small increments at a time in order to operate efficiently. 3. Pump is not producing any bubbles Ensure that the air intake line is not clogged or kinked. It is important that the air inlet line always be free from dirt, debris and salt build-up. 4. Water is not flowing thru the skimmer Unplug pump and remove from skimmer. Remove bottom inlet strainer from pump and ensure that the pump is not clogged and is free of debris. Submerse pump in water and plug in to check the water flow before reinstalling on the skimmer.
