Pipe Facing Machine Reliable Technology The CRC-Evans Pipe Facing Machine (PFM) is used to machine precision bevels with extreme accuracy for manual or automatic welding. They are typically used on cross-country pipelines, barges, and in stationary yards. The PFM has two major parts; the clamping section and the machining section. The clamp section has two sets of hydraulically powered clamping shoes that are designed to work equally and simultaneously. The machine is secured to the pipe end by expanding the clamp shoes inside the pipe on PFMs ranging from 8-60 pipe. The machining section of the PFM consists of a rotating faceplate with four or six tool holders each holding tunsten carbide cutting tips. The tools can be set to machine a wide variety of bevel designs and wall thicknesses. Each tool holder may cut a different bevel angle simultaneously. The PFM operation takes from 2 to 6 minutes depending on pipe wall thickness and the experience of the operator. A CRC-Evans Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) or equivalent is required to power the PFM. The CRC-Evans HPU is able to power the full range of CRC-Evans PFMs. The PFM can also be directly connected to an excavator. Please ask CRC-Evans for the appropriate flow chart. Counterbore and Miter Pipe Facing Machines are also available from CRC-Evans. Contact CRC-Evans for sizes and counterbore depths. API 30-Degree Bevel Narrow-Gap Bevel J Bevel
