FACTORY AUTOMATION COMPONENTS OF AUTOMATION BlueBay s core strength is its comprehensive knowledge base covering a range of Technologies from the product to the systems level. These Technologies include Machine and Motion Control, Robotics, Vision Systems, HMI, VFD, Networking (I/O), Sensing, Safety, Data Management, Custom Software and Mechanics. ADVANTAGES OF AUTOMATION BlueBay Automation helps OEMs, End Users and Machine Builders design and implement technology solutions to reduce costs throughout their processes and protect their automation investments for the long run. Some of the challenges that BlueBay can help clients address: Motion Control Systems Robotics Netwoking Solutions Automation Safety Systems Mechanics Maintenance demands from complex control schemes and constantly changing software Difficulty lowering lifecycle costs and generating expected returns Complying with changing regulatory and safety concerns Rising costs due to rapidly evolving technologies Reducing and managing energy consumption Install automation where a high degree of accuracy is required Industry 4.0 / IIoT In the world of manufacturing, our own version of IoT, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), is a logical extension of automation and connectivity that has been a part of the plant environment for decades, primarily in the area known as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication. IIoT implementation is driven by the need for smarter, more interconnected operations. To achieve this, organizations require easy-to-use solutions to connect and expand the capabilities of legacy equipment within existing facilities.
SINGULAR CONTROL Yaskawa Singular Control is a new concept allowing machine builders and manufacturers a way to develop manufacturing lines that include PLC, Motion, Drives, Vision, and Robotics under one open standardized programming language, IEC 61131. The Singular Control concept enables the use of off-the-shelf standard control, drives, servo systems, and robotics from Yaskawa and Yaskawa-Motoman Robotics as well as other standard products that use open networks such as EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT. Design your ideal case packing application with gantry robots, then switch to articulated robots without the need for extensive reprogramming. It s all part of Singular Control, which eliminates the need for a separate robot controller and a specialist in robot programming. MECHATRONICS MECHANICAL DESIGN A discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. MOTION CONTROL Engineering discipline that focuses on the modeling of a diverse range of dynamic systems and the design of controllers that will cause these systems to behave in the desired manner. Servo and PT Inline and Right Angle Gearboxes Speed Reducers and Gearmotors Linear Actuators Ternary Actuators Spiral Bevel Gearboxes Shaft Phasing Gearboxes Shaft Couplings Torque Limiters Screw Jack Lifting Systems Rack and Pinion Systems Machine Controllers Single-Axis and Multi-Axis Motion Controllers Rotary and Linear Servo Axes Direct Drive Servo Axes Industrial and Commercial Drives iqpump Controllers Spindle Drives and Motors Industrial Robots CNC Machines Interface and Indication Products Information Technologies Sensor Technologies SYSTEM SOLUTIONS Use of tools and methods to better comprehend and manage complexity in systems rather than seeing only specifi c events in a system. FLEXIBLE AUTOMATION Yaskawa Motoman Precise Automation Asyril Graco SensoPart There are several reasons to automate. However, automation is mostly seen as a means to increase production while lowering cost. Traditionally, custom machines are designed to perform a very specific task. This is known as Hard Automation. While Hard Automation and a high product mix will always have a place in manufacturing, it is generally only feasible for products that require mass production. Therefore, in many cases, it is cost prohibitive for manufacturers to employ automation where lower volumes and high product mix exist. Here at BlueBay, we have noticed a growing demand for Flexible Automation. Because of the cost and flexibility limitations with Hard Automation, some manufacturers have not employed automation and continue to struggle with meeting deliveries while finding it difficult to remain competitive in a global economy. As the costs of robots decrease, and the introduction of Collaborative Robots to industry, the barrier to entry for automated cells has been grossly reduced. The idea behind Flexible Automation is that a particular robotic cell can be adapted to multiple (often unrelated) processes. Some processes that lend themselves to automation might only require a robot to work for 3 hours per shift. It can be difficult to financially justify an automation cell in such a scenario. However, if that same cell could be easily adapted to perform 2 or 3 more tasks per day, justification in terms of ROI (return on investment) becomes much easier. Investing in a Flexible Automation Solution is just that; an investment. Because of it s versatility, these automation cells become assets that can be redeployed as necessary. In contrast, a Hard Automation cell requires a defi nitive product life cycle that must be guaranteed in order to achieve an acceptable ROI. BlueBay offers products and systems that can be combined to achieve the perfect affordable Flexible Automation Cell.
VALUE-ADDED SERVICES Our team of qualifi ed engineers and technicians will ensure that your project is a success from concept to implementation. BlueBay is an Automation Solutions Provider (ASP) that provides technology-based solutions. In addition to providing our customers excellent service in basic order fulfillment, BlueBay Automation s core strengths have manifested themselves in the form of a broad and fl exible range of technical value-added services that we offer our customer: Programming Services - Motion, PLC, HMI, IIoT Electrical Engineering and Design, Panel Layout Design, Electrical Schematics Mechanical Engineering Panel Build, Installation & Commissioning Custom and Pre-assembled Components and Cables (Packaged Kits) Educational Seminars and Product/Machine Technology Training On-site startup and troubleshooting services (Phone & Remote connectivity also available) ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS BlueBay Automation offers full turnkey systems and integration services to provide customers with complete end-to-end solutions. Our experience in advanced automation concepts, including forward and inverse kinematics, have allowed us to supply proven solutions to difficult applications. BlueBay developed an extremely high-speed 4-Bar SCARA robot for an electronics manufacturer. The 4-Bar mechanism was selected due to it s rigidity, low inertia, and ability to operate at extremely high speeds while maintaining a high degree of repeatability and accuracy. The system was built using Yaskawa Direct Drive servo motors. BlueBay helped to develop a Delta-2 style robot for a converting OEM. The custom dual arm D2 robot was integrated into a Yaskawa motion control system utilizing advanced electronic camming techniques. The solution allowed the OEM to achieve precise registration while picking and placing a large corrugated sheet onto a high-speed die-cutter.
