Medium-Pressure Gaugeable Fittings and dapter Fittings 2 Features The simple two-piece design of the Swagelok mediumpressure tube fittings and adapters consists of a female fitting body and preassembled cartridge containing the male and color-coded front and back ferrules on a disposable plastic arbor. The preassembled cartridge ensures installers correct ferrule orientation, visual confirmation of ferrule presence, and proper installation into the female body. Components are released only after the is threaded finger-tight on the fitting body. Female body Preassembled cartridge rbor The Swagelok medium-pressure tube fitting offers a leaktight gas seal and vibration resistance in applications up to 15 000 psig (1034 bar). dditional features of this novel tube fitting technology include: Front and back ferrules Male Patented low-temperature case hardening processing of the ferrules and, plus the specially designed ferrule geometry, promotes a patent-pending hinging colleting action Robust tube grip for a variety of installation practices nhanced vibration protection Strain-hardened stainless steel bodies offer lightweight, space-saving designs xtensive Swagelok product test reports and thirdparty test reports 4:1 design factor. 4 Medium-Pressure Gaugeable Fittings and dapter Fittings Pressure Ratings and Tubing Information Pressure ratings are dependent on the end connection or system component with the lowest pressure rating. Ratings for the end connections used in this catalog are identified below. Swagelok medium-pressure tube fittings listed in this catalog are rated to the pressure rating of the tubing for typical applications (see tubing tables below). ll pressures are calculated from equations in SM B31.3, Process Piping. Calculations are based on maximum O and minimum wall thickness. Pressure rating calculations for cold-drawn 1/8-hard 316 stainless steel tubing are based on an allowable stress of 35 000 psi (241 MPa). Pressure Ratings for Swagelok Medium-Pressure Fittings Used with Heavy-Wall nnealed and Cold-rawn 1/8-Hard Stainless Steel Tubing Swagelok medium-pressure ends are rated to the working pressure of the tubing as listed below and in Swagelok Tubing ata, MS-01-107. Heavy-Wall nnealed 316 Stainless Steel Tubing➀ O Wall Thickness Working Pressure 0.095 15 000 (1034) 3/8 0.134 15 000 (1034)➁ 1/2 0.188 15 000 (1034) ➀ No allowance is made for corrosion, erosion, or elevated temperatures. ➁ Pressure rating based on special wall thickness tolerance ± 10 % for heavy-wall annealed 316 stainless steel tubing. Suggested Information Fully annealed, high-quality type 316 stainless steel tubing STM 269 or 213, or equivalent. Hardness 90 HRB or less. Tubing to be free of scratches, suitable for bending and flaring. Cold-rawn 1/8-Hard 316 Stainless Steel Tubing➀ O Wall Thickness 0.065 3/8 0.083 1/2 0.109 ➀ No allowance is made for corrosion or erosion. Suggested Information Cold-drawn 1/8-hard high-quality type 316 stainless steel tubing. O tolerance ± 0.005 and wall thickness tolerance of ± 10 %. Minimum tensile strength 105 000 psi (723 MPa), yield strength 75 000 psi (517 MPa), minimum elongation 20 %, hardness 26 HRC or less. Tubing to be free of scratches, suitable for bending and flaring. Swagelok Tubing Working Pressure 15 000 (1034) For Swagelok heavy-wall annealed and cold-drawn 1/8-hard tubing products, see the Swagelok Medium-Pressure Tubing catalog, MS-02-334.
