Introduction Introduction Note: The parameters that are available in a specific vehicle depend on the vehicle configuration. This document describes parameters that are associated with the powertrain. Only parameters that are considered useful to the bodybuilder are listed. For a specific vehicle, available parameters and settings are found in the vehicle s ICS (Individual Chassis Specification) or SPII (Scania Product Individual Information). Please contact a Scania workshop for complete information on the relevant parameters. The parameters are stored in the vehicle s various control units and can be adjusted using SDP3 for bodybuilders (Scania Diagnos & Programmer 3). SDP3 for bodybuilders SDP3 has different access levels. SDP3 for bodybuilders is adapted for adjustment of parameters useful to bodybuilders and for BICT programming. Use the path below to set parameters for the powertrain in SDP3. Functions > Adjust> Powertrain Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 1 (31)

Clutch Clutch Use the path below to set parameters for the clutch in SDP3. Functions > Adjust> Powertrain > Clutch Parameters for Opticruise Clutch control with activated power take-off This parameter controls the clutch control for a connected power take-off with variable torque. Activate the parameter if the driver experiences poor comfort when the clutch is engaged in these conditions. Standard Activated Default setting: Standard Braking in operation with split shaft power take-off This parameter is only used in operation with split shaft power take-off. Disengage clutch The clutch is disengaged when the driver depresses the brake pedal. Keep clutch engaged The driver can brake using the brake pedal without disengaging the clutch. Therefore, the power take-off does not need to be restarted after braking. Default setting: Open clutch Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 2 (31)

Use the path below to set parameters for the engine in SDP3: Functions > Adjust> Powertrain > speed control Order of priority This parameter controls how the prioritisation is made for the control of speed 1, 2, 3 and 4 if several requests are made at the same time. Last used The speed control that was last used will be activated. Number order The regulation of engine speed with the lowest number will be activated. Default setting: Number order Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 3 (31)

speed change at stepped control This parameter controls how much the engine speed is to be changed for each short press of the button on the cruise control switch. The switch for cruise control refers either to the switches at the driver area or external switches connected to the BCI control unit. Stepped control is obtained by short presses on the switches for acceleration (ACC) and retardation (RET). Stepless control is obtained by one long press on one of the two switches. Active, 10-200 rpm in increments of 10 rpm Default setting: 50 rpm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 4 (31)

Maximum engine speed while braking This parameter only applies to vehicles with a torque converter. This parameter is used to set an engine speed which the engine must not exceed when engine speed control 1-4 is used and the driver brakes at the same time with the foot brake. The function is adapted to vehicles that need to be mobile while maintaining a high power output through the power take-off, such as fire engines. The function is very safety-critical and the speed must never be set higher than the speed at which the driver can brake the vehicle using the foot brake. 300-2,000 rpm in increments of 10 rpm and idling speed. Default setting: Idling speed Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 5 (31)

Permit increased engine speed while braking The function is adapted to vehicles that need to be mobile while maintaining a high power output through the power take-off, such as fire engines. The function is very safety critical and only applies to vehicles with torque converter. In order for the function to work, the Maximum engine speed while braking parameter must also be reset from idling speed to the desired engine speed limit. Without With Default setting: Without Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 6 (31)

speed when changing gear, automatic gearbox The function sets the maximum engine speed permitted to engage a gear from neutral. If a gear is engaged from neutral at the same time as the engine speed is regulated, the GMS control unit reduces the engine speed to the defined engine speed. When the gear has been engaged, the engine speed returns to the controlled engine speed. 500-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 600 rpm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 7 (31)

Raised idling speed Raised idling speed This parameter controls the engine speed that the engine must have when the Raised idling speed function is active. Active, 500-800 rpm in increments of 10 rpm Default setting: 700 rpm When the Raised idling speed function is active, the engine speed assumes the preset parameter value and can be increased without limitation using the accelerator pedal. Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 8 (31)

Conditions for parking brake This parameter controls if activation of the Raised idling speed function is to be dependent on the parking brake being applied. With Raised idling speed can only be activated when the parking brake is applied. Without Raised idling speed can be activated irrespective of the parking brake status. Default setting: Without Conditions for neutral position This parameter controls if activation of the Raised idling speed function is to be dependent on the gearbox being in the neutral position. With Raised idling speed can only be activated when the gearbox is in the neutral position. Without Raised idling speed can be activated irrespective of the gear position. Default setting: Without Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 9 (31)

Constant engine speed limiter speed at constant engine speed limitation This variable controls the engine speed that the engine must not exceed when the Constant engine speed limitation function is activated. Active, 500-3,500 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 1,200 rpm Constant engine torque limiter Torque with constant engine torque limitation This parameter controls the torque that the engine must not exceed when the Constant engine torque limiter function is activated. Active, 0-3,500 Nm in increments of 10 Nm Default setting: 1,000 Nm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 10 (31)

Analogue engine speed control Here you can set parameters that affect the analogue engine speed control. Note: If any of the functions speed control 1, 2, 3 or 4 is to have analogue control, the parameter Type of control must be set to Analogue control. Potentiometer, lower voltage limit This parameter controls the voltage that corresponds to a potentiometer value of 0%. Active, 0-5 V in increments of 0.1 V Default setting: 0.5 V Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 11 (31)

Potentiometer, upper voltage limit This parameter controls the voltage that corresponds to a potentiometer value of 100%. Active, 0-5 V in increments of 0.1 V Default setting: 4.5 V Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 12 (31)

speed control 1, 2, 3 and 4 It is possible to set 4 separate controls of the engine speed by individual values. Type of control This parameter controls the type of signal that is to be used at engine speed control. Switch for cruise control The engine speed is controlled by the switch for the cruise control. Either by switches in the driver area or by external switches. Fixed value The engine speed is locked to a certain value. Analogue control The engine speed is controlled by an analogue signal to one of the control unit s pins. External CAN The engine speed is controlled by the external CAN bus. Default setting: Fixed value Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 13 (31)

Governor characteristics This parameter controls whether the control of engine speed for a changed load is to be normal, soft or hard. Normal Control is done moderately fast. Soft Control is done relatively slowly and reduces the risk of self-oscillations. Hard Control is done relatively fast, the risk of self-oscillations increases. Default setting: Normal Fixed engine speed This parameter controls the engine s fixed speed at engine speed control. Active, 300-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 500 rpm Note: If any of the functions speed control 1-4 is to have a fixed engine speed, the parameter Type of control must be set to a fixed value. Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 14 (31)

Upper engine speed limit This parameter controls the highest permitted engine speed at engine speed control. Active, 300-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 3,000 rpm The upper engine speed limit must be higher than the lower engine speed limit. Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 15 (31)

Lower engine speed limit This parameter controls the lowest permitted engine speed at engine speed control. Active, 300-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 300 rpm The lower engine speed limit must be lower than the upper engine speed limit. Conditions for neutral position This parameter controls if the engine speed control is to be dependent on the gearbox being in neutral position. With speed control can only be used when the gearbox is in neutral position. Without speed control is not dependent on the gearbox being in neutral position. Default setting: With Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 16 (31)

Accelerator pedal engaged when controlling the engine speed This parameter controls if the accelerator pedal is to be engaged at engine speed control. With The accelerator pedal is engaged when control of the engine speed is active. Without The accelerator pedal is disengaged when control of the engine speed is active. Default setting: With Speed control This parameter controls how the speed increase will take place, that is, how quickly the engine speed is to be controlled. With, 50-1,000 rpm/s in increments of 50 rpm/s Without Default setting: 1,000 rpm/s If the parameter value is set to Without, the speed increase will take place without any limitation. Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 17 (31)

Upper vehicle speed limit This parameter controls an upper vehicle speed limit for the speed control function. When the vehicle speed is higher than the stated speed, the function is deactivated. 5-150 km/h in increments of 1 km/h Parking brake the parking brake must be applied for the speed control to be active. Default setting: Parking brake Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 18 (31)

Cylinder balancing The cylinder balancing function governs the quantity of fuel injected into each cylinder to reduce engine vibrations at low engine speeds. Active Means that the engine control unit carries out cylinder balancing as usual. Inactive Means that cylinder balancing is switched off. This setting can result in increased vibrations when idling. Inactive when power take-off is in use Means that cylinder balancing is switched off when a power take-off is in use. On some vehicles, vibrations may occur when the power take-off is used while cylinder balancing is activated. Inactive when vehicle is in motion Means that cylinder balancing is switched off while driving. The reason is that vibrations can be due to other causes than a fault in the injectors, for example that the wheels are not completely round. Default setting: Inactive when vehicle is in motion Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 19 (31)

Power take-off Power take-off Power take-off adaptation Use the path below to set parameters for power take-off in SDP3. Functions > Adjust> Powertrain > Power take-off Power take-off adaptation is used to estimate how much power the power take-off is consuming. This is done to make the Opticruise system work more efficiently. Active Inactive Default setting: Active Acknowledgement This parameter controls if the GMS control unit is to receive an acknowledgement signal when the power take-off has been engaged. The acknowledgement signal then controls the activation of the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster which confirms that a power take-off is engaged. With The indicator lamp is not activated until the acknowledgement signal from the power take off is received. Without The indicator lamp is activated when there is an acknowledgement request for the power take off and the activation conditions are fulfilled. Default setting: Without Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 20 (31)

Power take-off, preselected gear This parameter applies to vehicles with split shaft power take-offs. Specify if Opticruise is to engage a specific gear when power take-off on the split shaft is used. The selected gear controls the engine speed and torque into the gearbox and thereby changes the engine speed to the power take-off at the same time. Power take-off Active, 1-12 (the value corresponds to the gear selected) Inactive Default setting: Inactive Torque limitation for power take-off This parameter protects the power take-off from damaging engine speeds by controlling the upper limit for the torque produced by the engine when the power takeoff is activated. Active, 0 Nm max engine torque in increments of 1 Nm Default setting: 6,000 Nm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 21 (31)

speed limitation for power take-off This parameter protects the power take-off from damaging engine speeds by controlling the upper limit for the engine speed when the power take-off is activated. The parameter remains active even if you, for example, depress the accelerator pedal. Power take-off Active, 500-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 3,000 rpm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 22 (31)

Type of activation Power take-off This parameter controls how the power take-off equipment is to be activated. Manual Activation takes place via a switch. The power take-off activation conditions must, however, be fulfilled for activation to take place. If the switch is already on when the safety conditions are fulfilled, the switch must be switched off and on again to activate the power takeoff. Automatic Activation takes place when the switch is on and the activation conditions are fulfilled. The voltage must be on before the switch is activated, otherwise the switch must be switched off and then be reactivated. The power take-off is activated when all activation conditions are fulfilled. Drive position Activation takes place when the switch is on and the activation conditions are fulfilled. The voltage does not need to be switched on before the switch is activated. The power take-off is activated when all activation conditions are fulfilled and the voltage is switched on. Default setting: Manual Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 23 (31)

Conditions for neutral position This parameter controls how the power take-off is to be dependent on the gearbox being in neutral. Power take-off Without Not dependent on neutral position. Activate The gearbox must be in neutral position when the power take-off is activated. Activate/Deactivate The gearbox must be in neutral position when the power take-off is activated. The power take-off is deactivated when the gearbox is no longer in the neutral position. Default setting: Without Conditions for parking brake This parameter controls how the power take-off is to be dependent on the parking brake being applied. Without Not dependent on parking brake being applied. Activate The parking brake must be applied when the power take-off is activated. Activate/Deactivate The parking brake must be applied when the power takeoff is activated. The power take-off is deactivated when the parking brake is no longer applied.
