Introduction Introduction Note: The parameters that are available in a specific vehicle depend on the vehicle configuration. This document describes parameters that are associated with the powertrain. Only parameters that are considered useful to the bodybuilder are listed. For a specific vehicle, available parameters and settings are found in the vehicle s ICS (Individual Chassis Specification) or SPII (Scania Product Individual Information). Please contact a Scania workshop for complete information on the relevant parameters. The parameters are stored in the vehicle s various control units and can be adjusted using SDP3 for bodybuilders (Scania Diagnos & Programmer 3). SDP3 for bodybuilders SDP3 has different access levels. SDP3 for bodybuilders is adapted for adjustment of parameters useful to bodybuilders and for BICT programming. Use the path below to set parameters for the powertrain in SDP3. Functions > Adjust> Powertrain Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 1 (31)
Clutch Clutch Use the path below to set parameters for the clutch in SDP3. Functions > Adjust> Powertrain > Clutch Parameters for Opticruise Clutch control with activated power take-off This parameter controls the clutch control for a connected power take-off with variable torque. Activate the parameter if the driver experiences poor comfort when the clutch is engaged in these conditions. Standard Activated Default setting: Standard Braking in operation with split shaft power take-off This parameter is only used in operation with split shaft power take-off. Disengage clutch The clutch is disengaged when the driver depresses the brake pedal. Keep clutch engaged The driver can brake using the brake pedal without disengaging the clutch. Therefore, the power take-off does not need to be restarted after braking. Default setting: Open clutch Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 2 (31)
Use the path below to set parameters for the engine in SDP3: Functions > Adjust> Powertrain > speed control Order of priority This parameter controls how the prioritisation is made for the control of speed 1, 2, 3 and 4 if several requests are made at the same time. Last used The speed control that was last used will be activated. Number order The regulation of engine speed with the lowest number will be activated. Default setting: Number order Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 3 (31)
speed change at stepped control This parameter controls how much the engine speed is to be changed for each short press of the button on the cruise control switch. The switch for cruise control refers either to the switches at the driver area or external switches connected to the BCI control unit. Stepped control is obtained by short presses on the switches for acceleration (ACC) and retardation (RET). Stepless control is obtained by one long press on one of the two switches. Active, 10-200 rpm in increments of 10 rpm Default setting: 50 rpm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 4 (31)
Maximum engine speed while braking This parameter only applies to vehicles with a torque converter. This parameter is used to set an engine speed which the engine must not exceed when engine speed control 1-4 is used and the driver brakes at the same time with the foot brake. The function is adapted to vehicles that need to be mobile while maintaining a high power output through the power take-off, such as fire engines. The function is very safety-critical and the speed must never be set higher than the speed at which the driver can brake the vehicle using the foot brake. 300-2,000 rpm in increments of 10 rpm and idling speed. Default setting: Idling speed Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 5 (31)
Permit increased engine speed while braking The function is adapted to vehicles that need to be mobile while maintaining a high power output through the power take-off, such as fire engines. The function is very safety critical and only applies to vehicles with torque converter. In order for the function to work, the Maximum engine speed while braking parameter must also be reset from idling speed to the desired engine speed limit. Without With Default setting: Without Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 6 (31)
speed when changing gear, automatic gearbox The function sets the maximum engine speed permitted to engage a gear from neutral. If a gear is engaged from neutral at the same time as the engine speed is regulated, the GMS control unit reduces the engine speed to the defined engine speed. When the gear has been engaged, the engine speed returns to the controlled engine speed. 500-3,000 rpm in increments of 1 rpm Default setting: 600 rpm Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 7 (31)

Active, 500-800 rpm in increments of 10 rpm Default setting: 700 rpm When the Raised idling speed function is active, the engine speed assumes the preset parameter value and can be increased without limitation using the accelerator pedal. Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 8 (31)
Conditions for parking brake This parameter controls if activation of the Raised idling speed function is to be dependent on the parking brake being applied. With Raised idling speed can only be activated when the parking brake is applied. Without Raised idling speed can be activated irrespective of the parking brake status. Default setting: Without Conditions for neutral position This parameter controls if activation of the Raised idling speed function is to be dependent on the gearbox being in the neutral position. Cylinder balancing The cylinder balancing function governs the quantity of fuel injected into each cylinder to reduce engine vibrations at low engine speeds. Active Means that the engine control unit carries out cylinder balancing as usual. Inactive Means that cylinder balancing is switched off. This setting can result in increased vibrations when idling. Inactive when power take-off is in use Means that cylinder balancing is switched off when a power take-off is in use. On some vehicles, vibrations may occur when the power take-off is used while cylinder balancing is activated. Inactive when vehicle is in motion Means that cylinder balancing is switched off while driving. The reason is that vibrations can be due to other causes than a fault in the injectors, for example that the wheels are not completely round. Default setting: Inactive when vehicle is in motion Scania CV AB 2017, Sweden 19 (31)
Power take-off Power take-off Power take-off adaptation Use the path below to set parameters for power take-off in SDP3. This is done to make the Opticruise system work more efficiently. Active Inactive Default setting: Active Acknowledgement This parameter controls if the GMS control unit is to receive an acknowledgement signal when the power take-off has been engaged. The acknowledgement signal then controls the activation of the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster which confirms that a power take-off is engaged. With The indicator lamp is not activated until the acknowledgement signal from the power take off is received. Without The indicator lamp is activated when there is an acknowledgement request for the power take off and the activation conditions are fulfilled. Power take-off, preselected gear This parameter applies to vehicles with split shaft power take-offs. Specify if Opticruise is to engage a specific gear when power take-off on the split shaft is used. The selected gear controls the engine speed and torque into the gearbox and thereby changes the engine speed to the power take-off at the same time. Power take-off Active, 1-12 (the value corresponds to the gear selected) Inactive Default setting: Inactive Torque limitation for power take-off This parameter protects the power take-off from damaging engine speeds by controlling the upper limit for the torque produced by the engine when the power takeoff is activated. Type of activation Power take-off This parameter controls how the power take-off equipment is to be activated. Manual Activation takes place via a switch. The power take-off activation conditions must, however, be fulfilled for activation to take place. If the switch is already on when the safety conditions are fulfilled, the switch must be switched off and on again to activate the power takeoff.
