WELCOME TEXAS Cushman CLUB 33 rd Annual State Meet There is a saying that when you are busy, time passes more quickly and time seems to be flying by. Our 33 rd Texas State Meet will be here before we know it and I urge you to register today so you won t forget about it and we ll have an idea about the number to plan for. Along with a meet registration form and schedule of events, there is a map of Abilene showing the location of the Expo Center and all the motels around the City. I ve had several questions regarding the motels and their location in relation to the Expo center and this should answer all those questions. The Comfort Inn on I- 20 gave us a great rate ad we designated them as our Host Motel. Hopefully the map will help you chose a motel with easy access to the meet site. There are a lot of activities to see in Abilene along with the Meet events which give you a large variety of things to do. I want to again encourage you to purchase an Abilene Round Up pass that enables you to visit Frontier Texas Museum, 12 th Armored Division Museum, The Abilene Zoo, The Grace Museum and The Children s Illustrated Literature Museum and Buffalo Gap Historic Village. I will work with the ACVB to have this pass available at the registration desk.

Our rides are still in the planning stage, but we will try to have interesting and scenic rides to fit everyone. Jimmy Martin has volunteered to do the games. You may remember how good Jimmy has always been in the games and I m sure he will have some great games that will make it worth your while to watch and participate in the games this year. Hoping to see a large number of Show Scooters competing this year so put those finishing touches on your scooters. The Mustang Club will once again meet with the Texas Cushman Club for their National Meet. The Display building is large enough for the vendors to have plenty of room around the sides with the banquet area and show scooters in the center. I don t have a commitment on which vendors are coming, but we always have plenty of parts both new and used to fill your shopping cart. So bring your parts list so you won t go home without a part you seriously need. The following motels gave us a good rate and service last time and would be a good choice for this year s meet. Other motels can be found at the www.abilenevisitors.com website. Whichever motel you chose, be sure and make your reservations at least one month in advance of your arrival and tell them you are with the Texas Cushman Club. Camping: There are no reservations for on- site camping at the Taylor County Expo Center. The main campground is just across from the Meet Headquarters in the Display Building. If there is a concern try to come early and if the camping doesn t fit your needs, there are commercial campgrounds in the area that are an alternative. There are 200 spaces on site with water and electricity. Included in these are 50 spaces having full hookups and 42 having 50 amp service. There is a dump station on site. Rates for our meet are $75.00 for Wednesday thru Saturday with check out by noon Sunday. Spaces are on a first come basis. Early arrivals are $25.00 extra per night. The Expo Center will collect for the camping fees. If you have any questions please e- mail me at donhenry1962@sbcglobal.net or call 325-692- 3749 Don Henry, Meet Coordinator #414

Highlander Honey Ride and Luncheon The Highlander Honeys will again have a ride and luncheon for all of the ladies at the State Meet. Saturday, we will leave the Display Building at 12:15 and ride to the Hickory Street Restaurant. We will have Highlander Honey registration forms for any ladies who are not a member. The yearly dues for the Highlander Honeys Club is $2.00 per year. You do not have to ride a scooter to be a member of the group. We will have a car caravan for non- riders. We want to invite all ladies to come out and join in the fun. As in the past door prize donations for the luncheon are welcomed, but not required. Any ladies interested in ordering one of the Pink Highlander Honey shirts contact Jane Press: jane@pecangroveinn.com by August 25 th. DRAWINGS This year we will have a 50/50 Cash Give Away drawing. The drawing will be at the Awards Banquet on Saturday night. You need to be present to win. See Sharon Henderson to purchase your drawing tickets. We will also be having a little different form of a Silent Auction this year. You will purchase tickets and there will be containers in front of the auction items and you will place your tickets in the container of the items that you would like to win. The drawing for the winner of each item will be at the Awards Banquet on Saturday night. The items that we will have in the Auction are gifts donated by you the membership. This is a good fund raiser for the Texas Cushman Club and the success of this Auction is based on the great items that you the members donate. This is not only a fund raiser it is fun to participate in. In the event we have an abundance of donated items the excess items will be given as door prizes at the banquet. 100 YEAR CLUB RIDE 2015 33rd Texas State Meet As a reminder to all Cushman club members, we will be doing the 100 Year Club ride again this year at the state meet. For those who are not familiar with the 100 Year Club, you too can be a member IF: 1. You have a 100 percent Cushman scooter, i.e., no Mikuni carbs, no non- Cushman engines, no custom frames, etc. Only those items that came from Cushman Motor

Works, or were Cushman accessories available when the scooters were in production. Only one exception: you may have updated tires and rims for safety reasons. 2. Your age, plus your scooter s age, is equal to, or greater than, 100 years. 3. You register and pay your $7.00 registration fee at the meet (pays for patches & trophies). We will all line up according to your combined age, and do a short ride to show off our true vintage scooters. You receive a patch and get a chance to win trophies Unrestored Best of Show, Restored Best of Show and/or Highest Combined Years.
