NAVAL EQUIPMENT WARSHIP EQUIPMENT

NAVAL EQUIPMENT ALL THE EXPERIENCE OF A WORLD LEADER IN NAVAL DEFENCE DCNS is the European leader in naval defence and a major player in marine renewable energies. As an international high-tech company, DCNS uses its extraordinary know-how, unique industrial resources and capacity to arrange innovative strategic partnerships to meet its clients requirements. The Group designs, produces and supports submarines and surface ships. The Group also provides services for naval shipyards and bases. In addition, the Group offers a wide range of marine renewable energy solutions.

DCNS, YOUR NAVAL PARTNER NAVAL EQUIPMENT 3 Expertise in equipment DCNS designs and manufactures innovative, high performance equipment for submarines and surface ships. A recognised know-how in the fields of weapon launching, weapon handling, propulsion systems design and manufacturing, and secured manœuvering of helicopters. All equipment are sea proven, combat proven and developed in the frame of major DCNS programmes. DCNS has chosen to maintain the capability to manufacture strategic components. More than 30 foreign navies have selected DCNS equipment. Major worldwide programmes, from today and for tomorrow, are including equipment designed and manufactured by DCNS. Customer support Our customers have a great visibility on the industrial milestones from the construction until the set-up phases on-board. During the operating life, DCNS is capable of maintaining the vessels and the equipment installed on board. Industrial capabilities DCNS is operating appropriate facilities and is maintaining a significant number of industrial capabilities for manufacturing associated equipment and as such allowing its strategic independence. The equipment is developed thanks to high skilled engineers in various fields (i. e. mecatronic, electronics, hydrodynamics, pyrotechnic ) who are applying up to date engineering methods which could be part of technology transfer programs.

PROPULSION SYSTEMS DCNS proposes custom-made solutions, from propulsion equipment or system s design to its on-board integration.

DCNS, YOUR NAVAL PARTNER NAVAL EQUIPMENT 7 PROPULSION SYSTEMS CRITICAL POWER-PROPULSION SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT Solutions for a high level of performance of the warship: fast and silent. FULLY INTEGRATED POWER-PROPULSION SYSTEMS FREMM propulsion design. SCORPENE propulsion design. ENHANCED WARSHIPS PERFORMANCE Due to the long history of DCNS as propulsion system supplier, (more than 100 years), the constant innovation in power and propulsion systems is guaranteed. The critical elements for propulsion are kept in house such as systems for direct driven, nuclear powered submarines with very silent, shock proof and compact gearboxes. The modern approach of power and propulsion systems is highlighted in the FREMM frigate CODLAG, (combined diesel electric and gas turbine), where for 80% of the vessel time, the economic electric mode is used. When top-speed is needed, the gas turbines will run over a cross connected gearbox. Another invention is the Raft-Mounted Propulsion System (RMPS), especially for silent anti-submarine warfare frigates, where the engines and the gearboxes are resilient mounted on one single foundation. PROPULSION SYSTEM INTEGRATOR The propulsion system design and manufacturing are key strategic expertises developed by DCNS. DCNS propulsion systems are military shock resistant and contribute to the platform stealth. DCNS has the expertise to operate as Mechanical System Integrator (MSI) and Propulsion System Integrator (PSI). Engineering, manufacturing, on-board installation and through-life support of shaftlines, gearboxes and propellers are developed by the company. FOCUS ON Naval gearboxes Military shock resistant. Low acoustic signature. Can meet flooded compartment requirements. Optimal power to weight ratio/density. Product range for all kind of vessels: raft mounted CODAD, combined diesel or gas turbine, combined diesel electric and/or gas turbine, etc.

WEAPON LAUNCHING SOLUTIONS Innovative, powerful, reliable and safe launching systems.

DCNS, YOUR NAVAL PARTNER NAVAL EQUIPMENT 9 WEAPON LAUNCHING SOLUTIONS A LONG HISTORY IN WEAPON LAUNCHING In 1751, Ruelle begins operation as a forge producing cannons. Today, DCNS offers a wide range of weapon launching systems adapted to the various missions that surface ships have to carry out. VERTICAL LAUNCHING SYSTEMS SYLVER The SYLVER is designed to accommodate a wide range of missiles: SYLVER A43, for defence missiles. SYLVER A50, for tactical missiles. SYLVER A70, for deep-strike missiles. The SYLVER launchers can be integrated on almost every type of warship, from aircraft carriers to patrol vessels. DCNS began development work on the SYLVER in the early 1980s. Reliable, efficient and sea-proven, the system requires a low maintenance. This solution has already been selected by eight navies. Thanks to its modularity, the new launcher (SYLVER Mk2) will fire the new generation of air defence and tactical missiles. TORPEDO LAUNCHING TUBES DCNS is developing a new generation of torpedo launcher for the MU90 for its surface ships, in single, dual or triple tube configuration. Already fitted on board the DCNS GOWIND 2500, the torpedo launching tubes can be integrated on all types of surface ships. FOCUS ON SYLVER A70 and the Naval Cruise Missile SYLVER A70 is the only vertical launching system qualified for firing the Naval Cruise Missile (NCM). The NCM is the European brand new deep strike missile initially developed for the French Navy. In May 2015, the French FREMM frigate Aquitaine, became the first ship in Europe to launch the NCM missile.

WEAPON HANDLING AND LAUNCHING TUBES FOR SUBMARINES DCNS proposes simple, fast and secured solutions for the weapons and the submarine crew. All tubes have the capability to launch various types of weapons (torpedoes, missiles, mines). WEAPON STOWAGE AND HANDLING EQUIPMENT DCNS handling equipment allows the storage, the performing of the internal movements and securing the loading of weapons in the tubes. The weapon handling equipment is adapted to the requirements of submarines design. EMBARKATION EQUIPMENT For a totally secured loading and unloading of weapons in or out of the submarine. WEAPON LAUNCHING TUBES A simple and totally secured system allowing an easy and quick positive discharge, whatever the weapon. Technology performed by a quick deployment with high pressure. Weapons interface: torpedoes (NATO STANAG 4405), missile VSM39, Naval Cruise Missiles and mines. The highest levels of safety are granted by DCNS to these major mechanical elements crossing the pressure hull and participating in the submarine s diving safety.

AVIATION EQUIPMENT DCNS, YOUR NAVAL PARTNER NAVAL EQUIPMENT 11 Landing grids and SAMAHE allow the secure landing and handling of the aircraft in all weather conditions. The grid provides secured landing and take-off, compatible with all types of helicopters, UAVs and VTOLs. The helicopter handling system SAMAHE can accommodate and safely transfer all naval types of helicopters up to 16 tonnes. 40 years expertise in aviation equipment. More than 450 landing grids sold. With courtsey of Schiebel.

INDUSTRIAL CAPABILITIES Capabilities and know-how. Engineering department, industrial capacity, testing facilities.

DCNS, YOUR NAVAL PARTNER NAVAL EQUIPMENT 13 INDUSTRIAL CAPABILITIES TAILOR MADE EQUIPMENT DCNS designs, manufactures and has specific testing facilities to propose state-of-the-art and reliable equipment that will be then integrated on-board surface ships and submarines.
