Capacity: First Stage: 7. Tons Second Stage: Tons The Under Axle Jack is an air-operated lifting device designed for jacking loaded trailers and trucks using the manufacturer's recommended lift points on the chassis. Safety Precautions CAUTION: To prevent personal injury and/or damage to equipment, Read, understand, and follow all instructions, including the ANSI B0. safety code for jacks. Before using the under axle jack to lift a vehicle, refer to the vehicle service manual for recommended lifting surfaces on the vehicle chassis. Wear protective eyewear that meets the requirements of ANSI Z7. and OSHA. Inspect the jack before each use; do not use the jack if it s damaged, altered, or in poor condition. Use the jack for lifting purposes only. A load must never exceed the rated lifting capacity of the jack. Only use the jack on a hard, level surface. Center the load on the jack saddle. Off-center loads can damage seals and cause jack failure. Lift only dead weight. Do not move or dolly the vehicle while on the jack. Stay clear of lifted loads. Place support stands under the axles before working on the vehicle. Do not adjust the safety valve. Do not modify the jack or use adapters unless approved or supplied by OTC. Lower the jack slowly and carefully while watching the position of the jack saddle. Use only approved hydraulic fluid (Chevron AW Hydraulic Oil MV or equivalent). The use of alcohol, hydraulic brake fluid, or transmission oil could damage seals and result in jack failure. This guide cannot cover every situation, so always do the job with safety first. Parts List & Operating Instructions Form No., Sheet of, Back Operating Instructions. Connect the air supply. (00-70 psi of clean, dry air is required for the capacity of this jack.). Position the jack under the vehicle. CAUTION: To prevent personal injury and/or equipment damage, Only use the jack on a hard, level surface. Refer to the vehicle service manual for recommended lifting surfaces on the vehicle chassis.. Turn the control valve clockwise (CW) until the pump starts.. Raise the jack until it nearly touches the lifting point. Check the placement of the jack before lifting the vehicle.. Place approved safety stands under the vehicle at points that will provide stable support. Before making repairs, lower the vehicle onto the safety stands by SLOWLY and carefully turning the control valve counterclockwise (CCW). Note: The handle can be placed in three different positions by stepping on the pedal () and tipping the handle into the needed position. Filling the Reservoir. Remove the jack cover () by removing each side screw ().. Remove the plug () from the side of the cylinder assembly (#7).. With the jack in a horizontal position and the cylinder at its lowest position, fill the reservoir with an approved hydraulic fluid to the lower edge of the fill hole. Maintenance It is recommended that an in-line air lubricator and filter be installed in the jack's air supply line. This will remove moisture from the air and add lubrication that is needed to maintain the jack's moving parts. On a weekly schedule you should: Lubricate the air motor by injecting a few drops of oil into the air connection. Lubricate the cylinder wall by raising and lowering the cylinder to its maximum and minimum positions. On a monthly schedule you should: Lubricate all moving parts with a few drops of oil. Inspect the air jack and all extensions for damage or wear. Always store the jack with the cylinder in its lowest position to protect the cylinder from dirt and damage.

Parts List & Operating Instructions Form No. Preventive Maintenance Important: The greatest single cause of failure in hydraulic units is dirt. Keep the under axle jack clean and well lubricated to prevent foreign matter from entering the system. If the jack has been exposed to rain, snow, sand, or grit, it must be cleaned before it is used.. Store the jack in a well-protected area where it will not be exposed to corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements.. Regularly lubricate the moving parts.. Replace the oil in the reservoir at least once per year. To check the oil level, disconnect the air supply, place the under axle jack on level ground, and completely retract the ram. If necessary, add approved anti-wear hydraulic jack oil according to the Filling the Reservoir instructions on back of sheet of. Important: The use of alcohol, hydraulic brake fluid, detergent motor oil, or transmission oil could damage the seals and result in jack failure.. Inspect the jack before each use. Take corrective action if any of the following problems are found: a. Cracked or damaged housing d. Scored or damaged piston rod b. Excessive wear, bending, or other damage e. Loose hardware c. Leaking hydraulic fluid f. Modified or altered equipment Troubleshooting Guide Repair procedures must be performed in a dirt-free environment by qualified personnel who are familiar with this equipment. Trouble Cause Solution Erratic action. Air in system. To bleed air, place jack on its base with ram retracted. Cycle the ram 0 times.. Oil viscosity too high. Change to a lower viscosity oil. Internal leakage in cylinder. Replace worn packings. Look for excessive contamination or wear.. Cylinder sticking or binding. Look for dirt, gummy deposits, or leaks. Check for misalignment, worn parts, or defective packings. Jack does not lift. Release valve is open. Close release valve. Low/no oil in reservoir. Fill with oil and bleed system. Air-locked system. To bleed air, place jack on its base with ram retracted. Cycle the ram 0 times.. Load is above capacity of jack. Use correct equipment. Delivery valve and/or bypass. Clean to remove dirt or foreign matter. valve not working correctly Replace oil.. Packing worn out or defective. Replace power unit or seals Jack lifts only partially. Too much or not enough oil. Check oil level Jack advances slowly. Pump not working correctly. Replace power unit. Leaking seals. Replace power unit or seals. Low air pressure. Adjust air pressure to 00-70 psi.. Air filter is blocked. Clean air filter. Jack lifts load, but doesn t hold. Cylinder packing is leaking. Replace power unit or seals. Valve not working correctly (suction,. Inspect valves. Clean and repair delivery, release, or bypass) seat surfaces.. Air-locked system.. To bleed air, place jack on its base with ram retracted. Cycle the ram 0 times. Jack leaks oil. Worn or damaged seals. Replace power unit or seals Jack will not retract. Release valve is closed. Open or clean release valve Jack retracts slowly. Cylinder damaged internally. Send jack to OTC authorized service center for repair. Link section is binding. Lubricate link section Sheet No. of 00 SPX Corporation Issue Date: Rev. B, --0
